The Resolve 35L daypack is nearly perfect. The material is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. I like that compression straps are included and can be shifted into different placements on the pack. The pack is well-designed and spacious. It carries well loaded and ventilates as good as any pack does on my amply sweaty self. What I would change: Adding a stretchy mesh pocket to the front panel for quick stashing of a rain coat or wet item would be amazing. Also as a larger lady, I'd appreciate a more robust hipbelt, with pockets that sit farther forward on the belt and have some sort of closure mechanism. Other than those 2 things, I think this pack is great.
I was really excited for this product due to the rave reviews but was really disappointed and frustrated by it. It recently took this pack on a 2-week trip, 4 days of which were for a hut-to-hut hike. Because it was hut-to-hut, I didn't have many items to carry. My filled pack, which still had room to spare, weighed just ~15 pounds but caused immense back and shoulder strain after wearing it for less than an hour at the airport. I carefully reviewed the fit guide and instructions, did the measurements as instructed with the help of another person, and made numerous adjustments with the shoulder straps, hip belt, back height etc., but could just never find a combination that felt comfortable. It might just not be the right fit for my body. I'm straight-sized and do not have particularly large hips. Pros Beautiful durable fabric. Looks and feels good to the touch. It still looks really pretty new and clean after use. Citron is a gorgeous color. Back never felt hot and sweaty so circulation was pretty good. The side pockets are great for easy access. The compression straps were a nice touch and perfect for accommodating different items that I prioritized during different parts of a trip that included varying terrain from mountains, oceans, and cities. The secret pocket and full-length side zippers were great for security and convenient access. Cons This pack really made the journey more difficult. The padding on the back is really light in comparison to other packs. I looked jealously at my partner's pack which was nicely padded and had wider hip belts. The hip belt and shoulder straps are both, thin, narrow, and lightly padded. They do not really help with weight transfer and distribution. The edges on the shoulder straps also made constant contact with my arms and dug into my sides. No amount of adjustment of the shoulder or chest straps could fix this problem. The edges are made from the same fabric as the main pack, so while durable, it was not comfortable for skin contact. I also tried changing the back sizing. Based on my measurements, I was a small, but because it was so uncomfortable, I played around with XS, S, M, and L. I still had the same problems across all sizes. All in all, the weight distribution of the pack felt extremely minimal and nearly nonexistent. The shoulder strap pockets seemed like a great idea, but they're so small and there's no stretch at all. Regular-sized sunglasses can just barely fit and if you button up the compartment, it's too tight and you risk damaging your sunglasses. The hip pockets are too far to the side for comfortable access during the trail. They're also really small and aren't very secure. They're just completely wide open. Even if they're not zippered, they should at least have a top and bottom half with some stretch to ensure that things don't fall off. The top handle is a flimsy thin rope that is extremely uncomfortable to hold if the pack is not empty. I really wanted to like this pack because of the color, fabric, and unique shape that made it attractive but it is just so extremely uncomfortable. It seems they prioritized form over function. I will definitely be returning.
First of all, this pack is recyclable?! Amazing! I can't speak to how it holds up over time as I just got it. However, the features are incredible. As someone with a short torso, I love having an adjustable pack so it will be comfortable mile after mile. The cushioning is comfortable, and the side zip for the 35L size is a great addition. The small phone pockets on the shoulder straps are a major plus, though I'm not sure they'll fit extra large phones. I can see this pack being a trusty companion on my day hikes.
I travel to back country hike a lot. It's been such a struggle to find a women's specific backpack that I can both carry on a plane and is large enough to carry all my gear. This backpack in so perfect! It shrinks down so small but can expand so much once I'm off the plane. Added bonus is comfortable and pretty!!
Pack has many convenient pockets up in the front of the pack for quick storage. I put my car keys and cell phone in those pockets. Quick side access into main compartment to grab gear on the go that is stored in the larger area of the bag. Highly recommend!
Haven’t gotten to hike/climb with it yet, but it has everything I was hoping for in a bag. The extra straps that you can attach out on the front are clutch, I live in Colorado and layers are a part of life! Will update once I’ve gone live with it.
In hindsight, I probably should have gotten the 25L as I don't foresee myself using this pack for overnights, but I went on a short hike with it about half full and it wasn't sloppy or flopping around so I think it will be fine as a daypack. I'm definitely looking forward to taking it on longer hikes! Things I liked about it: -adjustable back length! -a zillion loops -the side zip that opens the main compartment all the way -pockets on the shoulder straps & hip belt -the sternum strap is adjustable, but instead of sliding up and down it can be fixed in one position. -detachable brain if you want to travel a little lighter -comfortable! -I'm plus sized and the hip belt is long enough with room to spare -water bottle pockets are large and stretchy, with added toggles to store things like trekking poles -of course, the sustainability of the pack is great, and honestly the fabrics feel awesome. I like the pack a lot and happily give it 5 stars. BUT there are a couple things I personally would change about it that may or may not be dealbreakers for others: -I would like to see more pockets--maybe one more internally and a couple more externally. I like having the ability to organize my gear a little more than this pack allows. -As a bigger person, I would have liked the wings of the hipbelt to be a bit longer. In general I would have liked the hipbelt to be more robust--that's the primary reason I don't think I'll be using the pack for an overnight. -I could pull my water bottle out of the water bottle pocket without taking off the pack but to put it back I had to take the pack off. This is not uncommon so it's not a big deal but I wish more packs were designed for easy water bottle access. Overall, this is an awesome pack and I love the philosophy behind its creation! I'm really happy with it and looking forward to using it on longer hikes!
I recently purchased the women's resolve 35 pack, and although I am a huge fan of Nemo products, I was justifiably skeptical a first in a category as well established by other major manufacturers such as "backpacks" could prove to be a slam dunk, but I love the ethos behind Nemo's "Endless Promise" line, so I decided I would give it a shot... There are a few things that I would like to see done differently, but overall Nemo brought their usual innovation and flair to the table. THINGS I LOVE ABOUT IT: -shoulder straps are insanely comfortable. -Full length side zipper allows me to easily gain access to the center of the pack (I keep toiletries and personals in the main pocket's internal zippered pouch and this makes accessing them breezy. -Endless Promise is definitely a cool program -water bottle pockets are highly adjustable for different sized bottles -modular attachment straps keep things tidy and can be used in several different places to suit your needs. (These types of straps are things I make myself and add to my packs, but it's nice Nemo included them and made their different use cases obvious and plentiful). -Fabric is smooth and durable and doesn't catch snags. Even the mesh used is so tight knit it doesn't want to snag as much as others. -traditional hip pockets are not present, but there are nice open pouches that fit small snacks or bits and bobs easily and without pesky hard to reach zippers. THINGS I'M NOT AS KEEN ON: -I wish the mesh on the shoulder straps had some stretch to it, it would be a cool spot for a water bottle, but I have yet to find one that fits aside from small soft flask style bottles, and even these are tricky to get in. -included strap keepers are a rather bulky plastic. Not a big deal by any means, and I can just replace with small shock cord, but for a 100% recyclable pack, this makes me feel wasteful. All in all, I am loving this pack and think it was a wonderful and innovative Debut into an already incredibly thoughtful product category.
First, I love Nemo and am a long-time user. I haven't had a chance to take out my Resolve 35L pack yet, but I love it's design! The conscious effort make equipment that can be repaired and recycled is not a usage comment, but worthy of praise. I enjoy that it is a smaller pack that has a removable brain. There are some bungee aspects that are a bit convoluted for adjustment but it makes them secure, just not the most user friendly. I like that it has some pockets inside but is more of an open interior. The full length side zipper I would only use in city backpacking or airplane travel situations, when I am thru-hiking or out for months on the trail I line my pack making that feature null. I love that their material is thick. I know there are thin light materials that the ultralight backpackers flock to but they tend to be noisy and not breathable and I like having sturdy feeling fabric that is tactile and won't tear easily. I like that there is an adjustable back piece which is why I chose this pack over their other option with a brain. It is smaller than other packs I've owned, but this is a challenge I gave myself. I'm used to a 45L, I'm not sure I need all that. It does mean there are like designs smaller packs don't usually have like a large one exterior pocket just on the face of the pack, some large packs don't have this either. This is always where I put my Nemo Hornet 1P tent on other packs and I'll have to add bungee cord lattice-work to do something similar and could leave it open to tearing. I don't like to put my tent on the interior as it's often damp whether from rain or condensation. I'll also have to add loops to the bottom for my according folding bed mat, but this I have had to do on all packs. I haven't put weight in it. I moved recently and I have to get my backpacking gear from my mom's and she is in another state. I also think with the smaller size I may be forced to only use it in spring and summer with my EMS summer sleeping bag, my Nemo Rave may take up too much space however, I don't typically use a stuff sack since I line my pack and there may be no issue at all. Again, the smaller pack was a challenge on purpose. After a recent move I was invited to a short backpacking trip with coworkers in the Adirondacks and so I purchased this right away. Ever since Nemo started making packs, I've wanted to try them. I have loved all other Nemo purchases I have made! The hip belt padding is more narrow and extends out less than expected. As a large hipped female, this is common, but the ability to keep the torso short helps (kudos to adjustable torso) and them being malleable instead of firm like an REI Flash 45L, it feels good. The straps sit well on the shoulders. The weight offset straps at the shoulders are nice to build an angle to distribute weight to the hips. The chest straps are adjustable but in another convoluted fashion. This makes them very secure where you keep them, but not easy to adjust on the fly. There is this small interior wire which is light and adds structure but unsure of ite necessity but it doesn't bother me. I never use hydration bladder reservoirs and would have preferred an open top face of pack opening for my tent but bladder reservoirs are a staple now. I use smart water bottles and sawyer squeeze filter and the bottle pockets on the side are nice and deep. This is good for holding water bottles that are tall and narrow, it doesn't seem like an easy grab situation. This may be a downside as someone who does not use bladders, this pack does seem geared to that as your hydration source with ease. I'm still excited to use the pack even with the concern for some things not being ideal, this has been true for all packs. I've never found a pack I like, the search is on, I am excited to use this one. The citron color is gorgeous also! I know the pack will serve me well one way or another. When I hiked the AT in 2017, my Nemo Hornet 1p and Rave down sleeping bag and Ditto Slim wallet were staples! Unfortunately, I lost my ditto slim and am super bummed they aren't made anymore. When not hiking, their Puffin blanket serves me at home or during stargazing. I have the older Nemo Stsrgaze chair without the head rest, but has a rubber bootie that likes to fall off of the leg. Nemo replaced the missing boot for free but for some reason the leg is more narrow and it falls off and I have to keep an eye on it. I use this chair often though and keep it in my car. I recently ordered one with a head rest because the night sky at my new apartment is stellar and I fully intend to now sit waaaay back and look up for hours! I also recently got a pillow from Nemo and hope to review this on my next trip. I don't usually use a pillow but part of the smaller pack is because I think I need fewer clothes to be honest based on experience. This means though I'll be in my camp clothes sleeping and drying my hiking clothes and leaves me no clothes for a pillow. The pillow appears to pack down small so i am giving it a shot! I went all over the place with this review and don't have field experience with the pack, but again it is promising. Nemo hasn't let me down yet. I'm not a super light backpacker, but I'm not about too much comfort either. Somewhere in the middle. The construction and manufacturing are peak, as usual! I'm so excited to use the pack this summer! I tried to upload photos, but it is endlessly loading. Maybe I can add later.
