Perfect jacket. Regular fit (not slim) for layers

I have tried many lightweight wind/rain jackets for running. My beloved Marmot jacket is no longer produced. The Mountain Hardware Kor fits nicely and blocks the wind, but isn't water resistant at all. The Patagonia Houdini hoody has gotten slimmer and slimmer each year so there isn't room to comfortably layer underneath. If you size up, you'll end up with a jacket that's way too long at the hips and arms. Then I found this Houdini Half-Zip and it's PERFECT. It's lightweight, blocks the wind, is pretty darn rain resistant, and it's a regular fit (not slim) so you can comfortably layer underneath or throw it on over whatever you're wearing.

Ultralight and packable

This is a great addition to a layering system for backpacking or hiking. I tend to get extremely hot and sweaty when hiking uphill then very cold at the windy summit. I throw this on whenever I stop to snack or have a break if it's chilly. It keeps wind out and traps my body heat from moving while I'm sitting still. It's not breathable but its wind resistance will keep my damp layers warm. It's also nice for hanging out at camp if it's windy or just to trap another layer of heat. I wear it over a puffy when it's windy instead of breaking out a full rain shell. The best part is how light and packable it is, so it's never a question of whether to bring it. When I'm using it often I will even just shove it in my pants pocket. Recommend getting a size or two up to fit over layers-- it feels like it's sized as a regular top/base layer top instead of a shell/outer layer. I have the rock wash color and it's super cute.

The Bomb!

Love the color scheme and lightweight fabric of this pullover. It’s perfect for hiking, weather when a coat is too much and my chilly air conditioned office.

Very cute and functional

I love this jacket! I am a big fan of the houdini jacket but wish it had more pockets, so this fits the bill with the 2 side pockets. It is roomier than the houdini too, but that makes it more comfortable. I love that it stores in its own pocket and it is light but warm enough for hikes and runs.

Great Light Anorak

I love the light weight of this top. normally would not get a style like this since its a pull over but the extra long zipper makes it eady to slip on. The chest pocket is easy to open for handy storing of a snack. Side pockets are a bit too reach but I did order an XXL instead of an XL. I just wanted it really loose to slip over hiking clothes . The sleeves are nice and long and I will make use of the drawstring at hem. The pattern is fun and bright

Best jacket to keep chill and sweat away

The Houdini Stash Half-Zip Jacket perfectly works for me as the top layer for high energy adventures in Maine. I wanted something that can keep the bite out of temperatures as low as the high teens with a light breeze with a light fleece or my nano puff on underneath. This jacket does it perfectly. I've worn it so far on runs, nordic skis and hikes. It's so lightweight that I don't think twice about throwing it on. I sweat easily so it works well for my temperature regulation. I wore it with just a silk base shirt on a hike in the white mountains in below freezing weather. Kept me warm enough but not too warm to sweat. Then for the decent, I just layered on a fleece plus puffy jacket. Perfect system, I'm very happy because it took a long time to figure out!

Wonderfully lightweight, color darker than photos

Recently discovered the Houdini line of light jackets. These are great because they are so light and compact to take anywhere. They keep out just enough wind for being outdoors in light activity like brisk walks and hiking on cooler days. My preference, however, is the full zip as I realize I don't like pulling things over my head as much. I ordered the Ellwood Green but the stock pictures are lighter than the actual color. When it arrived, it felt like the color was a bit duller with a hint of grey. It's better than black but not for me. I would suggest sizing up if you are between sizes. While the S would probably be fine, my thick arms would be a bit tight. The medium works fine with a little room for layers. If you are petite like me, the sleeves will be too long but it does give you the option of shielding hands from the wind. The half band of wrist elastic makes it wearable and the bottom cinch can help trap a bit more heat. It may be good for a bit of mist but I'd stick with my 2.5L rain jacket for wet conditions. And if you are not aware, this is treated to be water resistant but not waterproof. Like other brands, this requires retreatment to maintain the jacket's water resistance.
