Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Comfortable but Cold
5 stars for comfort, 1 star for warmth. I'm a hot sleeper and was very cold with temperatures hovering around 47 degrees in Disco 30 combined with NeoAir XLite NXT Sleeping Pad. I have a couple of their bags, Disco 30 and Riff 15, both have an overinflated comfort level rating compared to other companies. I'd add 10 degrees to their rating if you want to stay warm and more importantly safe. You need to layer up quite a bit or use a solid liner to get close to the supposed comfort level. Still, as a side sleeper, this is one, if not the most comfortable bag I ever used. The warmth rating is very disappointing.
excellent sleeping bag
Bought this for an upcoming section hike in Vermont, but have tested it out in the Adirondacks and Maine backcountry. I’m a hot side sleeper, and while some nights it dropped to about 45, it kept me extremely cozy and comfy. It’s the right amount of fill , and coupled with the “spoon shape” and the additional flap on the front, it was tough to get used to at first but after an hour or two I was sound asleep. Like I said though, hot sleeper…but the vents were extremely useful for this and helped regulate my body temp, even in the cooler air. It packs down to a very reasonable size, and so far the quality of the bag itself seems 👌
Lightweight, Packable, and Cold
I bought two of these bags for me and my son for a fall Scout trip. The temperature dropped to 44F and we both froze. I might lean towards being a cold sleeper, but my son definitely does not. Given this was our first trip with the bags, we also brought bag liners, just in case. The liners saved the trip, but I wouldn't trust these bags below low 50's, which makes them a single season bag in our area. Our ground pads were R4-R5+.
BEST overall bag
I've loved this Disco spoon bag since it first came out. And now it's even better, 100% recycled and recyclable. The perfect van camping bag for inside or on the roof. The shape and weight of this 30Âş bag are perfectly suited for New England weather adventures. Curl up on your side when you need to for more warmth, or open the gills and lighten it up a bit. The new material is soft and much quieter. 100% recommend this new Disco
Disco on the Grand Canyon
I purchased the Disco for an 18 day private raft trip on the Grand Canyon, launching November 14. Temps varied from frosty 30's to low 50's. The bag was perfect for the temperature range. It packed up small in the morning, and lofted up well in the evening each day, and was great warmth in a small package. It held up well to the rigors of the trip including fine silt/sand that gets into everything, especially zippers. We tented only three nights, and slept well every night. Looking forward to beating it up for another decade or more of adventuring... and recycling it when done.
Zipper tore the outer layer
I just bought this about 2 weeks ago. The zipper is really horrible and snags everything all the time. Today it ripped a hole in the fabric spilling down everywhere 2 weeks before my big Appalachian Trail hike. I can see why it was on sale. Very thin cheap zipper tearing outer layer. NEMO is not my brand apparently.
Specs for Disco 30 vs Riff 30
I haven't used this bag yet, but wanted to share some info I found in comparing this to the Riff 30. I got the Disco 30 Regular and the Riff 30 Regular side-by-side to compare weight and packed volume. Considering the Riff used 800FP down vs. the Disco at 650FP, it should be lighter and smaller. However, the stated weight on REI and Nemo's website is correct - the Riff is 32oz and the Disco is 33oz including their provided stuff sacks (1oz is not much of a weight savings for the added cost). Regarding packed volume, REI's website doesn't include the information for the Disco, however, the Nemo website says the Riff is 4L and the Disco is 3.7L (again, the Riff should be smaller given the slimmer cut and 800 FP down). This isn't scientific, but I placed both in their provided stuff sacks and compressed as much as possible. They are very close to the same volume - the Riff might be 5% smaller but almost imperceptible (and two other people looked at this with me). Anyway, I hope this is helpful information if anyone is comparing the Riff to the Disco (30F Regular size) - to me, the price premium for the Riff doesn't make sense.
Plenty of room for those who move
Soooo…. I’m a 6’3” 250 pound dude who moves around a lot at night. After hours of reading reviews and watching videos I pulled the trigger on the Nemo Disco 30. Took this bag out on a two nighter. First night was 59 degrees and I unzipped the bag at night to get the heat out. Second night I used the ventilation zippers. Yes, they do work. I was laugh at my tent buddy who had a mummy bag who couldn’t move around. I slept on my sides with my knees bent, on my stomach, my bag, upside down, and inside out. Yes I move around a lot and not once did I wake up from not having enough room to stretch out. The only flaw with this bag of the zippers. Both nights I unzipped the zippers and spent way too much time to get the zippers to realign to zip all the way up. Honestly, it’s a minor issue for major gains. Great sleeping bag, got more trips in mind for this bag.
This bag is loaded!!
Greatest thing about getting something new when you have kids, are all their questions that follow! The shape really allows for you to move and get comfy. Built in pillow pocket “is so cool!” Said my 6 year old son. The air vents work and aren’t a gimmick. My 8 year old Daughter said, “Daddy, they gave you 2 bags! One to keep it in at home and when you go hiking!” This bag is quality and can pack small! My kids have already asked for their own for when their Birthdays come. Pillow pocket, air vents, weight, warmth, shape, exterior foot box is durable, plus a home storage bag and compression sack…. This bag is loaded!
Best sleeping bag I have owned...
The bag is extremely light. I like to sleep on my side and it is very comfortable to move around once zipped up. I have only owned "mummy" bags prior so I really dig the "spoon" design. The best part about this bag is my wife and I can zip our bags together and make one large bag. This bag is a LEFT ZiP and my wife has a Nemo RIGHT ZIP bag. They need to be opposite side zippers to be able to connect together. Really love this bag.
