Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and Âľ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Good shape, thick material.
I like the shape of this dress. The material is very thick and more swim suit vs hiking. It would not be comfortable to wear for adventures. But the idea is great. From trail to town if the material was more comfortable.
Great tech dress
I'm reviewing this solely because I do not understand why it only has one low review, because it's a great tech dress! I have so many dresses like this from various companies and I like this one a lot. I like the lightweight, sweat-wicking, techy fabric on the outside (I don't understand the other reviewer who said it is thick fabric, the outside dress part is very lightweight). I like that it has shorts underneath, and that (unlike other dresses with shorts underneath) you can actually go to the bathroom easily by pulling them down. And I like the built in bra.
This dress is my absolute favorite for hiking.
This dress is one of my absolute favorite purchases this year. It delivers everything I want in a comfortable hiking/outdoor adventure dress. The outside is solid fabric that keeps its shape. The straight front makes me look a little slimmer than I really am because it hides my little tummy. The built in shorts are comfortable and I can pull them down without removing the top of the dress. So it works like a romper, but without the drawbacks of a romper. The many pockets are deep enough to really fit something. The cleverly hidden zipper pocket on the dress fits my cellphone or my wallet. I am 5'5" and weight about 140 lbs and wear a Medium. If I were to change anything at all on this dress, it would be the length. I would love to have the option of three to four extra inches in length, but that's just me. I highly recommend this dress to any woman who loves being comfortable and cute on the trail.
Great on Trails & Amusement Parks
If I could give this 100 out of 100. I would. This is the most amazing dress ever! Not only do you have more than one pocket (two on the dress and two on the underlined shorts), but all of the pockets actually hold everything in. The dress and material is incredibly comfortable. So comfortable I've hiked in this without a bra! To top it all off, I've never had a dress that is more perfect for amusement parks. I'm going to Orlando, Florida this summer and I love the water rides but hate being wet for the entire day. I've already experienced being soaked in this dress (perks of Colorado) and I can't wait to be the only dry one when I wear this on those water rides. Thank you so much for this dress!!!!
Shorts Are Too Short
There are a lot of great design features on this dress. I love the numerous pockets including a hidden zip pocket. I love the fit and the idea of the inner bodysuit/shorts. I like how thick the bodysuit material is as it provides a good amount of compression in the mid-section. The thing I do not love is the length of the shorts, they are just too short for anyone with normal sized thighs. I wore it for a day around town and dealt with constant rolling/riding up. It made the dress extremely annoying to wear as I was constantly pulling the shorts down. I also ended up with thigh chaffing due to the inadequate length. Shorts inseam for anything "active" should be a minimum of 5-6 inches. These are only 3.5 inches. If you typically have problems with shorter shorts then this is not the dress for you.
I am buying more!
At 5’9, 155 lbs the medium fits me PERFECTLY. I love this new version so much for summers in the southeastern US! I have gotten so many compliments and have potentially helped REI sell even more. I have also cleared SO MUCH out of my closet as this is all I want to wear. I have hiked the trails around our home in it and the opening between the shorts and inset bra have helped keep me cool(-ish! It’s still 95+ degrees/humidity 🥴). One friend just said she would wear the black to a cocktail party. Town to trail indeed!
Fantastic for trails
This dress is awesome for walks around the neighborhood, hiking, and traveling. Unlike other dresses, the unitard underneath allows you to only slip the shorts off if you need to use the restroom (or find a bush off trail...). I wish the straps were adjustable, but like another review said, you don't need to wear an extra sports bra for low intensity activities.
Cute dress, but some design issues
This dress is a great choice for those days when you're going on a long hike and then out in public. It's got a pair of stretchy shorts attached inside, and a sort of bra-ish thing (not alot of support, but the girls aren't not loose in there). Nice pockets with a snap, and I really like the color; it's quick dry, stain resistant and a little stretchy. But I wore it today with a sunshade shirt and later, by the beach, a puffer coat. When I needed to use the restroom, a porta potty which was kind of nasty, I had to take the coat and shirt off in order to peel the dress down to get the shorts down. There was nowhere to put the clothing that wouldn't be gross, so I had to hold it while performing the maneuver. The shorts also get balled up if you're not careful pulling it on or off. Nice idea, but I think you might be better off just buying a pair of spandex shorts and wearing it under shift dress.
Perfect No Fuss Travel Dress - more colors please!
Bought this dress for a trip to Belize and I loved it so much, I purchased the other two colors. First the split under garment design means you can bathroom anywhere easily. Second, it was so comfortable, wicking away water on the outside but keeping me comfortable underneath. I love this dress and I hope REI makes new colors of it every year. It’s is the perfect no fuss travel dress.
This dress is the BEST!
Took it on a 4-month backpacking trip through Asia and this dress was my favorite warm-weather piece. Loved hiking and biking in it. Really loved the material, outer pockets and inner pockets on shorts. So easy to go to the bathroom too! I just saw it’s discontinued :((((( please please please bring it back!!
