Comfy & Durable Active Short
I wore these shorts during an expedition travel sailboat cruise in the Caribbean and they were great! I didn't overheat in the humid weather, and I wore them on the ship, during beach outings, light hikes, and town visits. They are the perfect "dad short" vibe - a little baggy & very comfortable. I would say runs slightly large, which made them extra comfy while still protecting from potential chafing. The snaps on the pockets were important. I was moving around a lot from the ship to tenders/zodiacs and piers or beaches with things in my pockets and the snaps helped keep everything in place. Also really like the secure zip pocket for more important items like money, etc. The zip pocket is discreet & secure. I'll definitely wear these a lot more, they seem to be durable, are versatile, and wash well.
Great all around lightweight shorts
The Active Pursuits 6” shorts are just what I need to be versatile! I’ve been wearing them trail running as they are lightweight, stretchy, and comfortable. They don’t feel restrictive around the legs or waist. I got a size medium as I’m 5’4” and 150lbs and they fit perfect. It has an elevation waistband with a drawstring which is super helpful. I’ve also worn them rock climbing and they don’t get bunched from The harness. They fit pretty well with the harness legs too. I have a trip planned to the Grand Tetons this summer and these will be my main hiking and climbing shorts!
Unisex short - great for hiking!
Unisex short - great for hiking! I tried running in them but they had a tendency to ride up between my thighs. These are not lined, which I rather prefer for running shorts. They were fine for short runs & I think they’d make great backpacking shorts. They’re certainly unisex sizing and run on the baggy side. I do love the snap pockets & the hidden zip pocket. I trialed a size large as I usually size up in shorts. I would have done better with a medium in these! I look forward to using them as a summer casual short & for camp trips.
Great Adventure Shorts For Tall Guys
These shorts are exactly what I was looking for! As a taller guy, shorts always ride up my legs and get super tight but these have great room and don’t irritate my skin. They are super durable for mountaineering and have been on many class 4 and 5 scrambles and look brand new! They look stylish and the medium fit great on me at 6’2 180lbs. The fabric feels great and high quality and the features are minimal which I like. I love them so much I bought 2 so I always have one ready for the outdoors. Great for running and backpacking as well cause they’re super light and packable.
Good Stuff
These are easily some of the best athletic shorts I’ve had. The material is just stretchy enough without feeling too pajama-ish. At the same time it feels very robust. While it may not withstand abrasion like 100% nylon would, it does feel a bit tougher than most stretch shorts. The pockets are pretty neat. I like that I can button the hip pockets to keep contents secure. Speaking of secure, the right hip pocket contains a smaller zip pocket—perfect for keys, cards, even a phone. The shorts don’t seem to ride up like many other pairs. The elastic waist is strong enough on its own but the tie lets you really strap in for high intensity activities. I love that you can use these from taking a walk, to yoga, to backcountry hiking. Looking forward to using these more as the weather warms up. The one thing I feel is missing is a back pocket but that’s pretty minor. All in all excellent product.
Better Than Baggies
I bought these during the sale and LOVE them! I'm 5'8" and the inseam is the perfect length for wearing them high waisted. I love the material and think they are 10x comfier than Patagonia Baggies. I also love the secret pocket inside the pocket! I plan to buy more colors.
decent all around active wear shorts
I was really excited about this non-binary clothing option, and will continue to keep an eye on this line, but for my body type I think there are better options out there. These shorts have a very wide leg, so if you have thick thighs or a high waist-hip ratio, these could be a good option. For me it looked like I was wearing a skirt. The material is slick - I don't love the feel. It is somewhat stretchy and with the wide leg I felt comfortable biking, hiking, and running in these. They would be good in the gym for weights too - but again due to the wide leg you would need to wear something under to not show off the goods to others in the gym. The zip pocket for keys/whatever is nice and large, however I wouldn't want to put a phone in there as the bagginess of the shorts would likely have the phone flopping around a lot. All in all - these are decent all around shorts. The pink is cute and I love that REI is working to support us NBs.
Decent but baggy work-out short
These shorts are fine - baggy enough & enough stretch that squats or basketball would be ok. I used them so far on runs and during a spin class, they work for both those activities. Pockets are deep and there is a small zip pocket for a key or credit card, which I appreciate. I'm rating them 3/5 stars mainly because they're nothing special for $60, and for me run too big. I think if you have more muscular legs or greater thigh girth than I do these may be a good short option - for me they kind of look like a skirt. I do appreciate REI's attempt at a non-gendered line, and will continue to check those clothes out. These are a basic short so if that's what you're looking for, you've found them.
Nice shorts, but the fit didn't work for me.
I love that these are marketed as unisex, but... Making unisex shorts is tough. I am a 5'3" woman with narrow hips and big thighs and these just fit funny on me. If I wear them below the waist as I normally would, the crotch is weirdly low, and if I wear them above the waist (which makes me look like my grandmother but YMMV, some people can pull it off), the butt is really tight. I usually wear a women's M or L and ordered a small in these, and I do think they are the right size, but the cut is just off for me. It's a bummer because the material is comfortable, the pockets are deep, and they seem well made and durable.
Great for thick thighs!
Do not pass these up! My thick thighs have finally found the best pair of shorts for any activity... I can now finally run without my thighs rubbing. These unisex shorts are a great length and don't ride up on me, either. The large is a little large in the booty area for me as a woman... but the style is also boxy and androgynous which I am good with, just have to get used to the different style. I feel like I'll never wear women's specific shorts again because these are SO comfy and they have BIG pockets and pickets with SNAPS! I am so happy! Buying 3 more pairs!
