Sizing Notes

Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.

Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:

Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.

Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.

Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

IS THIS SHOE TRUE TO SIZE? The product Features above will provide a suggestion if Altra advises you to size up or down in this particular shoe. If no such note exists, please order your regular size.

Perfect for wider feet!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently had a knee replacement, and I am beginning to get back into fast paced walking and slow jogging. I've had a lot of trouble trying to find different types of sneakers that didn't have so much impact on my surgical knee that were wide enough to fit my feet. I tried these and theyre amazing. I had no foot, leg or knee pain. I have double wide feet and the fit was perfect. They were not snug or too loose. This is the perfect sneaker!

Ugly looking, but helped my plantar fasciitis!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got to test these shoes complimentary of bzzagent, and having plantar fasciitis is so miserable. Having foot pain and then having it affect your hips and your knees and your back is no fun. These actually helped to make the pain go away. They were high and I felt really tall, but they were half a size too big. I usually wear a 7, and the 7 1/2 I could slip right into, but they did stay on all day. These were some amazing shoes! I definitely recommend these!!! Thank you bzzagent!!

Wow! Amazing shoes!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't say enough great things about these shoes! This is the first time I've ever found a pair of shoes that are really wide enough in the toe box. Everything about them is great, breathable material, great cushion and fantastic fit! I wore them on the treadmill a few times and then put them to a road test, and they were amazing! Then I gave them the ultimate test, two theme parks and they passed with flying colors! I was the only one in the group that didn't have sore feet after one day at Knotts then the next at Universal Studios. These shoes are just amazing and I will be back for more!

Cheap Liner Inside

Love this shoe but the liner is falling apart after less than 3 months of weekly (but not daily) wear. It was almost the perfect shoe. I have trouble with Altras wearing way too soon in different places.

Comfortable but poorly made

This shoe was very comfortable for my wife's job as she needs to stand all day, until the heel liner wore out around 5 months of ownership, which caused a rub spot. Altra denied the warranty claim. We have never worn out a shoe this quickly, especially one that's so expensive. The shoes is tied with lace lock method so heel slippage is not an issue. This seems to be a common issue with this model

Painfully narrow

This shoe s very narrow in the mid foot / arch area. Unfortunately I did not wear the shoes a lot when I first got them and they're outside the return window. I assumed they would be great shoes because all my other Altria's are. I'm now looking for a hard arch support to put in that will hopefully protect my arch from the hard edge of the shoe digging in. I wonder if the men's version is wider? I wear the Mens Olympus hiking boots for work and love them. I do love the pink/orange/yellow color combination of this shoe. And I also like the softer cushioning.

I Found My New Love..

I am new to this brand of shoe. I did some google searches and ALTRA was highly recommended. I work 10 hour shifts in a prison environment. I found out quickly, my military style boots did not jell with concrete floors. I needed a solution ASAP, because of pain in my feet. I read the reviews of the Olympus 2 and I knew this was the shoe for me. I ordered the all black pair and I was off to races. It would have been great if this shoe came in leather. I received my shoe in a timely manner. I put them to the test , I worked 10 hours plus overtime and I need not experience anymore pain. It was unbelievable, I had to look down at my feet, because I couldn't believe the pain was gone. I have purchased other walking/ running shoes in the past, because I love to walk (HOKA, NIKE, NEW BALANCE, BROOKS, SACONY). However, this shoe provide a different experience: the toe box allowed room to freely move my toes, extremely light weight shoe, great comfort and support. If you work long hours, take care of your feet. This is the shoe that you need. It's worth the money and you will not regret it. I received a lot of questions and compliments from my coworkers regarding this style of shoe. I provided the website for them to order (#TEAM ALTRA)... I will be ordering another pair. Thank you for a great experience.

Via Olympus 2 are great lightweight road shoes

I was quite pleased and surprise by these shoes. They were comfortable right out of the box. I speed walk and they were great first time out. they are very light weight and enable me to walk faster than the trail shoes I have been wearing. They have a lot of cushion but do not have a spongy feel. I have bad knees and feet and I noticed less pain after wearing them on my 3.3 mile walks. I am over 70 so the maximum cushion makes a big difference. Ordering a 2nd pair.

Great for the Camino del Norte!

I walked the Camino del Norte in this shoe, doing about 13 miles a day. Plenty of room for Injinji toe liners and Darn Tough socks. They kept my feet comfortable and pain free on tarmac, rocks, roots, gravel, mud, rain and hail. After an all day rain and squishy shoes, I pulled the insole out and they and the shoes dried overnight. My knees and hips did extremely well in this shoe, apparently due to its 0 drop. Best of all? Not one blister. Not even a hot spot.

Liner is falling apart

I bought these shoes last fall and have just put them into consistent use since May. I have put between 200-300 miles on them walking and the liners have holes in both heels. I had fusion surgery for a rigid hallux in March and these were just what I needed to accommodate my swollen foot as I resumed normal activities. The cushioning has also been appreciated as I bring my walking distances back up (20 - 30 miles/week). However, with the liner going to pieces in both shoes they will not last much longer. I'm quite disappointed.
