Definitely recommend this jacket!
I really like this rain jacket. My almost-four-year-old is on the taller end and 4T fits great. The jacket is not insulated but is roomy enough for a fleece jacket or a sweatshirt underneath, so while we’ve only used it with extra layers in cool weather, I’m excited that this will work for summer as well. The material feels great and will be a nice hand-me-down for multiple relatives or friends. The sleeves are long but honestly, kids will want to keep their hands inside and dry. The hood is shaped in a way that keeps them dry and still lets them see to the side. I definitely recommend this as a high quality, versatile jacket.
Lightweight Jacket w/ Convenient Toddler Features
The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because I haven't owned it long enough to provide an insight on long-term use. This is a high quality, lightweight jacket for my 4 year old. There are 2 unique features on here that I wasn't sure about when comparing to an adult rain jacket, but quickly realized how functional it is for small children. 1) The velcro flap covering the zipper is small circles instead of a long rectangular strip and 2) The pockets don't have zippers. With this modifications, my child is EASILY able to un-velcro/unzip the jacket himself, and he is EASILY able to put his hands in his pockets if desired. There is a small flap covering the pockets to help prevent rain fall from entering the pocketed area, so that is not a concern. As for other features, there is a soft fabric material covering the neck to add comfort and prevent chaffing when zipped all the way up. There are no bungee cords to synch the hood of the jacket down, however, there is an integrated elastic material on each side of the brim to keep the hood tight on the head enabling the hood to move when my child moves his head. This is a big plus as there is no complaining about not being able to see while he is walking and observing nature. As with most rain jackets, I expect this to wet out during extended exposure in torrential down pour, but that is status quo for this material and nothing new for me. He loves wearing this jacket to go over base layers to block wind and stay dry, while keeping his hands warm!
Great first rain jacket
This is a great first rain jacket for our toddler. At 10 months old, the 12 month size is a little big but he'll be able to wear it for a while before growing out of it. The jacket is really easy to get on and stays put while he's moving around. And it doesn't seem to hurt his mobility. The elastic of the sleeves is really nice and keeps the arms of the jacket from sliding over his hands.
Quality lightweight jacket for the little one!
This is an awesome jacket for my 2 year old. First off, it feels really nice - lightweight and somehow soft even thought it is durable and withstands rain and wind extremely well. Some rain jackets have a sticky feel on the inside, but this one feels nice and breathable. I also like that it's simple which is a must for a toddler. It has just the right amount of features without going overboard like the adjustable hood with elastic on the sides for a good fit, nice reflective details, and a hanger loop on the inside. I appreciate the soft material by the neck part so that it's comfortable for my kiddo when we zip him up. It's a thin jacket but does the job in the rain and cold wind. I got one size up so that I can layer him up and get some good use over the next year since we get rain throughout the year. Definitely recommend!
Great quality for the price
This is a pretty good rain jacket. It stops the water from soaking through to clothes underneath, it fits well, and seems pretty durable. The zipper is a big, wide kind so that makes it easier to zip up without getting caught. It also has a Velcro cover to make it fully water proof and it's well made so it closes easily. The pockets for your hands are larger, and don't bind up trying to put your hands in. There is also a zipper pocket The hood is attached, and it's big enough to fit over another hat for warmth. Overall, a very solid rain jacket for the price point - if you're looking for good quality at a budget, then this one is pretty spot on.
Great and lightweight
Quality rain coat! We have the rain suit for my son and love it, but also wanted to get a coat for times we don’t need the whole suit. It is very effective at keeping our little dry and isn’t too bulky or heavy. The one thing I wish it had was a way to cinch the bottom. My kiddo is a small for his age and being able to adjust the hips would be nice. But there is a way to adjust the hood. We love this line of rain gear - handles the Washington coast rain. It is a light weight jacket so it isn’t something to get as a “winter” rain coat.
Solid Shell
If you’re in need of a shell for your kid this is an excellent choice. Good wet performance -shed medium to light rain for at least 30 minutes before wetting through (for reference my Patagonia shell lasted only a bit longer). For our child the fit is great - he’s a little thinner and tall for his age. Good for layering. Only improvement I’d make is a Velcro sleeve closure. The elastic doesn’t hold above the wrists and so I’m constantly folding inward to prevent his hands from being covered. We use it a lot, and construction quality is high. If lasts two seasons it will be money well spent and I suspect a loved hand-me-down.
Perfect Little Jacket
My 2-year-old daughter and I’m extremely happy with it. The jacket is made of high-quality material that is both waterproof and breathable, which is perfect for rainy days. It has a comfortable fit and is true to size. The jacket is lightweight and easy to pack, making it perfect for travel. The jacket has a hood that fits well and stays in place, keeping my daughter’s head dry. The jacket has a simple design that is both stylish and functional.
Amazing jacket for active puddle jumpers
This is the second Rainier jacket that our toddler has: she grew and we got the 3T now. The quality and packability of this jacket is amazing, but importantly it is lightweight enough for the toddler to freely jump in puddles in the heavy rain and waterproof enough for her to stay dry. We got caught in a long heavy rain while visiting Oregon Zoo and for the entire 3 hours of the visit our toddler stayed happy and dry, even though she was actively trying to get all wet. We will surely be coming back for the 4T when time comes!
Love the lavender shade!
Purchased a rain jacket for my granddaughter in the lavender shade. Keeps her dry. Cute.
