Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

While you won't score any fashion points on the Red Carpet, you'll be rocking it while staying dry on the Green Carpet! Took these out for a hike in the rain and was pleasantly surprised by the many features I wasn’t aware of before. Nice thing about them is that the side zippers run the entire length of the legs, with velcro closures at the waist and bottom of the legs, making it extremely easy to get into and out of with boots on, a well as not having your clothes get all balled up trying slip your legs in a tight sausage casing. The leg opening has a small inner draw-string to tighten up the circumference which is helpful with splash-backs from driving rain. I think what surprised me that I found most useful was being able to unzip the upper portion of the pant along the sides to allow for venting and cooling when things got warmer, something I don’t have on my ultralight rain kit; perfect for hiking in intermittent weather when you don’t want to keep jumping in and out of your rain gear and the mess it makes with muddy wet shoes to boot. i typical wear a M (32x30) yet these were L which were actually a better fit given the un-restrictive movement they offered and the ability for air to move around the legs, especially when the side zippers were opened up. Length was good, extending down over the top portion of the shoes, rather than sitting at the tonge and funneling water right into them. Kept me dry, well made, nice articulated knees and with the draw-string elastic waistband was easy to get a good ride. Stand by that tree over there and give me your star-studded smile while I take your picture, you A-lister!

Solid Performance, But Runs A Bit Large/Long

Due to lack of rain at home, these got tested during a afternoon monsoon on the Florida coast. They performed admirably; I stayed completely dry during a very wet and windy beach walk. My only complaint is that the Large Long size is too large and too long for me (and I'm 6'3", 34 waist). I think the regular length would be fine on me (which may be the first time I've ever said that!), and I would definitely at least try a medium size to see if it might work. These are basically hard shell pants, so for those that don't like "rustling" sounds as you walk you may want to look elsewhere.

Great Rain Pants With A Comfortable Fit For Hiking

These pants fit very comfortably over any other pants you're wearing and have a relaxed fit. I appreciate the full length zips along each leg that enable you to get the pants on and off without having to take off your hiking boots! The loose fit means that these pants are probably better suited to hiking or walking than being used as cycling rain pants – I'd worry that the material may catch on the chainring. Water proofing is good, and the capacious pockets (easily big enough for a large smart phone) have zips and rain guards over them, so they shouldn't ever allow water entry. The one thing I'm not too crazy about is the cinch system for the ankle cuffs – it's not intuitive to use or easy to do once the pants are on. Seems like it would be best to set it the way you want it once and then leave it like that.

Great rain pants for adventure.

I used these pants while photographing waterfalls in the rain. I really liked the ability to unzip from the hip and the ankle to get these pant over my boots and existing outerwear. These pants ended up being very comfortable while hiking in them, I did not feel restricted at all.

Front pocket rain pant!

These rain pants fit like a relaxed trouser. Length is prefect and sit low on a hiking boot. Rain was light but pant breathed well. I especially like the velcro closures versus buttons which are easier to use with gloves on. Front Pockets! yes. Hard yes to front pockets and no rear pockets. Rear pockets only fit a wallet, I'm hiking so wallet is not an issue. Also the front pockets seem to vent a bit as well. I'm 6'0 with a 33 waste and 32 inseam. Mediums fit well.

Stay dry with REI CO-OP Rainer Rain Pants

Super light weight, packable and doesn't take up much room! Keeps you nice and dry, I had to try in the shower, as I been missing the rain here in the southwest. Has a full side zipper from waist band to ankles to easily put on or take off, with Velcro to keep zipper secure. Sench down ties on the ankles.

Full Zip and waterproof! Nuff said.

Sise (M) Great pants - The full zip makes strapping up, and taking off, on the fly in boots and gear easy. These permanently live in my pack unzipped and ready to go. Pro – full zip! Need I say more. The Velcro around the waist makes getting in/out easy while you zip em, and there’s a bungy at the bottom to secure them. I kind of want the bungy to be heavier but I’ll gladly compromise the weight on something that simply lives in my pack. Baggy enough to fit over other gear. I have not had water penetrate them in the short term. The inseam stitching is well protected and the zippers are covered in opposing directions. They get a little toasty, even in cold weather, but I’m able to vent them with the double zipper. I expect these to last for a long time. The claimed weight is 12.6oz and I weighed them at 11.5oz. Con – They’re Baggy, which could be pro or con. I’m typically a 30/30 and these fit well in the waist over other gear but they are long for a medium. The ‘short’ size would have been better for me. Though, they are baggy enough to fit over just about any gear I could possibly be wearing. There is no front zipper or easy way to relieve yourself without dropping trou in a normal way; I didn’t really find this to be a con but some people might. Zippers can be tricky until you get used to them. *I really like these; and they’re made from recycled materials!

NOT waterproof!

I purchased a pair of these pants for a hiking trip to Mt. Whitney. On our way to the summit a thunderstorm started. I quickly donned my new rainpants and expected them to keep me dry. Within minutes the rain soaked through the pants at the thighs and my legs became completely drenched. Too wet and cold to continue, I turned around and didn't reach the summit. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this product and am going to return it.
