Would be perfect if Salsa offered this in a Class-1 version for the US like they do for Canada. There are so many local trails that allow Class-1 or 2 e-bikes, but not Class-3. Give your customers a choice, Salsa! That said, I used the Bosch Flow app to lower the pedal assist speed limit to 20MPH to abide by the local regulations. Not sure if that's totally legit, but we'll see. Love the large battery capacity and range extender option. I'm 5'-11" and on the size LG frame, the reach is great, but be advised the stand-over height is quite high on this bike, despite the relatively short seat tube dimension. I think this comes down to the BB height is quite a bit above the bottom of the motor, likely done for ground clearance. Also, the 29x2.3 tires are quite tall, in fact, the diameter of the tires is more than can be adjusted in the Flow app. I'm considering dropping to a 700x50-ish tire when I wear out these tires.
I was looking for an e-bike for a few years and finally settled on the Salsa Tributary. It had a decent capacity battery plus the range extender option. The dropper seat post is nice as are the tubeless ready wheels/tires that I converted to run tubeless. I find the 11-42 cassette works well in the 1x11 setup, I can do anything from 20+% grades in the 42-42 combination up to maintaining decent speed on the flats. Also really impressed with the range, I find Eco mode burns a but over 1% battery capacity per mile, which should beat the 72 mile range estimate. Add the range extender and it should do 100 miles easily. As far as cons, I wish that REI would offer the Class-1 (Canada) version of this e-bike in the US. This would greatly extend the use of this e-bike onto trail systems that prohibit Class-3 e-bikes, which is quite common in California and other states. I also wish there was a built-in lighting option, that is head and tail lights wired into the Bosch motor controller. Again, some states, like California, are requiring at least tail lights on certain classes of e-bikes and having something hard wired into the bike battery and controllable by the mini-remote would be awesome.
