Stormchaser, nailed the name!
I have the 2021 Red version of this bike bought from a LBS in Mesa Az and while I've owned others this is my most loved. I've had this as a stock 38T with the 18/17 rear cogs, a 1X with an ULTEGRA rear derailleur and 11 speed cassette, and now with the 38T and 17/15 rear cogs. Needless to say it's very versatile, very comfortable and as a single speed with carbon wheels and 32-42mm tires you have a light weight single speed bike. You can drone along down the road or gravel paths for hours or take this SS bike wherever you like, up and down off anything, in and out of anything like when you were a kid and just say screw the gears. That's why it's my most loved, makes me feel like a kid when I ride it because it's FUN! Bike riding has become to serious with all the fancy frames, hydraulic components and the prices are ridiculous. Wish more manufacturers made more versatile bikes that you could play with whether it be a 1X or SS, whatever your whim.
If this bike speaks to you, it's a great choice
If this bike speaks to you, it's a fantastic choice. I love mine: lightweight, nimble, sings over gravel, fun to ride. It's my first serious bicycle, and I for one am glad I went single-speed. I appreciate the attention to details on what would make a great single-speed gravel bike. The choice of materials and components is intentional to support real-world use. Good quality, field serviceable, and low maintenance. While the bike has an aluminum frame and rigid fork, the ride remains smooth in my opinion. The cog and gear ratio were well chosen and balanced for an athletic person on both level terrain and climbing a range of hills. I'm located in the US East (Maryland), so the terrain is varied yet without massive peaks. A big thanks to the Angelo and the bike team at REI Rockville for ordering and assembly.
