Excellent Power Bank
I bought this power bank to replace a smaller and lighter power bank I’ve used for years but couldn’t find. This model is two ounces heavier than advertised, as other reviews have noted, but it packs a lot of power. I recharged my IPhone twice, my InReach once and my watch once on a recent nine day backpacking trip with nighttime temperatures in the upper thirties. It’s quick and easy to use. I could have recharged all the devices again had I needed to. I wish it had built in cords , but otherwise this power bank surpassed my expectations.

More weight than advertised
I ordered the BioLite Charge 40PD 10000 mAh power bank based on the advertised 7.4 oz weight as a reasonable cost improvement over my current 15 oz 20000 mAhpower bank. However, it's actually 9.4 oz. The lower weight savings aren't worth the cost and loss of power.

Excellent customer service

I spent several back and forth emails with Biolite customer service over this charger to make sure I was using it correctly and that it was working properly. CS was great and gave me quite a tuition. The first charge of the battery bank took close to 24 hours. CS told me to try a different charge cord after draining it fully. The second charge took up to 8 hours using USB port. After more chats with CS I used the C port to charge after draining it for the third time. Charge time was around 3 hours. I now know far more about my Biolite charge unit since instructions are extremely limited . Good customer service is something I find extremely important and keeps me coming back to a brand. Biolite fulfils ! Oh, and the charger charged my iPhone 13 3 times when around 40 percent with a bar left on the charger. I like the bar system of showing how much charge is left in the charger.

Necessary hiking accessary.

Bought this Power Bank for hiking. I can get almost three full charges for my iPhone. It is a little heavy but definitely worth having.

Perfect to keep my phone charged on long mt hikes

Using AllTrails on hikes, my phone was running out of juice on really long ones. This charger is pretty light weight and easy to charge and use. As a solo female hiker, I feel it's a necessity for me until I get totally comfortable with my topo maps and compass.

Such an upgrade from my old 2014 powerbank

The BioLite Charge 40 PD Powerbank has been an excellent addition to my outdoor gear. It is compact yet packs enough power to keep my devices charged during multi-day trips. I can easily recharge my phone multiple times, and it works perfectly with other USB devices like my headphones and camera. Super fast charging. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs a dependable charging solution for their outdoor adventures or daily use. Great product!

Started out great but…..

Initially really nice but a year and a half later this won’t hold a charge. Perhaps my fault for not using it properly or enough.

Very heavy

This is very heavy. Not practical for carrying in purse or backpack IMO.

The Sweet Spot

Had a 5000 mAh pack which was sufficient for two charging emergencies with my iPhone 8. Upgraded to an iPhone 10 so needed a bigger pack. I really liked the portability of my old pack so I considered the Charge 20 PD but decided I wanted the extra juice. This feels huge vs the old pack, but I'd put this one as the sweet spot between power and physical size; I wouldn't want bigger or heavier. The grey part of the body is a softer textured plastic to improve your grip. Overall I'm satisfied with this purchase.
