Requires additional power cable and rack hardware
Two issues that have prevented me from even testing the Varia: it requires a power cable (sold separately), and it does not include a rack mount as implied by the marketing and photos (which prominently display the eRTL615 on a MIK rack!) The manual has a page on rack install, but they provide no hardware. The required power cables are $30 each, and while they offer a Bosch cable it is only an old Gen2 cable which does not work with newer bikes. I have reached out to Garmin support and their response has also been disappointing.
Tomorrow's Tech Too Soon
This is tomorrow's tech, but it comes too early to be useful today. Bought this for my wife's ebike but to install it requires that you drop the motor out and rewire a bunch of stuff. Way better off just getting the battery powered light and charging it up each night. Some day E-Bikes will come with an available plug or even have a universal connection to their rear light so that we can swap these little guys in with no drama...but that day is not today.
