Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".

PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.

TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Works well in light rain

First, this jacket looks sweet! I was surprised that the regular (and not the tall) size works so well for me at 5' 9". The sleeves and body are both a decent length and provided ample coverage. I also love how well the jacket blocks the wind. I found the pit zips easy to adjust and effective. It took me few tries to dial in the hood adjustment but once I did, the hood works well both with and without a baseball cap. Now, for the "rain" part of the jacket. I have (and love) the Rainier rain pant and expected the jacket to behave the same way my pants do -- shed all the water that comes into contact with the clothing. The jacket worked very well to shed water in a light rain on my first rainy Seattle walk. I was out for 15 or so minutes, all the rain rolled off the jacket, it was perfect. I had a layer on under the jacket, I didn't get overheated and there was no "wet" from any perspiration. My second walk was in a real rain, Seattle got over 1.5" that day. I was out for an hour in my Rainier pants, jacket, waterproof shoes. I had a fleece layer on under the jacket. I noticed that some of the rain rolled off the jacket but some also appeared to be soaking into the jacket. This was true on the sky-facing portions of the sleeves and across the chest and shoulders. My pants didn't have this issue; in fact, I found a wet bench and sat down for a few minutes to see if any water would "press" through the seat of the pants (it didn't). When I came inside, I am happy to report that hardly any of the "wet" from the rain had made its way all the way through to my fleece layer. I had not perspired or overheated during this walk, so there wasn't any moisture coming from me, only a tad across my shoulders that had come through the jacket. I've been looking for a reliable rain jacket to wear with my Raininer pants when hiking and backpacking. I don't know that this jacket is "the one" for heavy rain days but I do think it will work well for me when the forecast is for lighter precip days.

This jacket totally LEAKED water through the fabric after being in a medium rain for 10 min. My hair was soaked and my upper body damp from the water seeping in.

Great Rain Jacket

I love how this rain jacket is light and made from recycled ripstop nylon. The size M jacket is fitted when I wear a light puffer jacket underneath. When wearing only a medium weight base layer, there's room. However, even with room, I was protected from the rain. I've never found the need for "pit zips" so would be fine without this feature. I like the two large external and two large internal pockets. The hood adequately covers my head, allows for reasonable peripheral vision and can be adjusted with a velcro tab. It's a great jacket for hiking in the rain and easy to stash in a backpack. I am happy with this rain jacket and will use it for many more seasons.

Super light, packable rain coat

This is great for those climates where there's a consistent rainy season and where it's generally warm. Super light and roomy so you can layer underneath it. I love that it has tabs for the hood and sleeves to make it fit better! It's also SUPER lightweight and breaks the wind a bit too. The dark blue color matches pretty much anything.

Not just for rainy conditions!

This Jacket saved me from freezing. I had purchased this jacket because i needed a good rain/windbreaker jacket, though i was thinking more along spring hikes or something. But THANKGOODNESS I brought it along to my snowshoeing hike. I have a good light winter jacket that i use for most of my winter hikes but is not good in windy conditions. When i got to my hiking location it took only 1 min to start shivering. The second i layered on this jacket I was cozy!! I couldn't believe what a difference it made. It was -15 windchill that day with 30mph gusts. It is light and breathes well, i did not sweat even though the hike was challenging. The sun made it beautiful. This was the best purchase i have made in a while! Perfect for layering and as single layer. If its this good in wind then im sure its amazing in rain!

NOT waterproof

Just wore this for the first time playing the Plantation Golf Course in Maui. It was lightly raining when we started and I was completely soaked in less than 5 minutes. The jacket did absolutely nothing to keep me dry plus it was stifling. I could not have been more disappointed. Will be shopping for a new coat when I get home.

Reviews must add an "Expected Life".

After years of hesitation I finally decided to write this review. These 2.5-layer layer waterproof jackets are doomed too early. I've owned several of REI's rain jackets that claim to be waterproof. Initially, they are great! Biking, hiking, even kayaking they've been wonderful. Then, after a few short years they delaminate on their own even when used lightly and stored in a cool, dark, dry closet. I didn't know this in the beginning and bought several thinking I could use them for 10+ years or more but nope, I've tossed 2 of 3 all within the 10-year span; one well-used and the other not nearly so. In the future, the "Features and Benefits" needs to add an "Expected Life" under optimal, even storage conditions. Without that we just adding to our future landfill/waste issues.

Sadly, no

I was looking for a waterproof jacket and loved the color and fit of this one. It worked fine outdoors a few minutes in a brief rain drizzle, keeping me dry. However, when I wore it another time on a hike in light rain (not heavy rain) it was not waterproof after walking for 20 minutes. The jacket was very wet inside and outside, and took hours to dry. Very disappointing! But kudos to REI for acknowledging my disappointment in not finding this jacket to be waterproof as described, and reimbursing me.

Almost there

I am a minimalist traveler. I bring one packable jacket. Merino wool underlayer for warmth. I am looking for a specific set of features. This one is sort of there . 1) a rain jacket that doesn't look like a rain jacket. Not quite but better than most. 2) pit zips? Yes. 3) full mesh lining? No. Interior on this one is sticky. Columbia watertight lining is much better. 4) Stowable hood? No. Wrapping the hood adjustment Velcro tab under the collar hanger is awkward and ugly. Roll into collar flap with velcro stays will make this jacket better. 5) reasonably water repellant? Maybe. 6) Packable? Yes. 7) Wind resistance? Yes. not sure why its impossible to find a jacket that covers all points. This one is closer than most.
