Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".

PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.

TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great overall but maybe not for everyone.

There are some pros and some cons to this overall. I love me an overall, cute and comfortable. The material for these, while durable, is not very stretchy (think old school jean material), luckily it runs a little large so extra room makes up for the lack of stretch in material. What is stretchy, are the shoulder straps, which are a nice touch to allowing more movement within the overall. Personally, I think they are a bit of a weird length for the shorts so I folded them up a hem and liked it a lot better, but I think that’s personal preference. The color is great, it’s a slate grey and has lots of useful and aesthetic pockets. For reference, I am 5’3” 130lb and this is a size 6, could have probably gone down to a size 4, maybe? Overall, a great overall (get it 😉).

Sturdy and good quality

Pretty great! I am 5'7" and about 145lbs and got a size 4 which fit well. Things I enjoy about these trailsmith overalls: 1)comfy stretchy straps that dont irritate the shoulders. 2) actually gits us ling torso gals. 3) super durable feeling and nice construction. Other considerations are that i dont love the length of the shorts. They are too long for my preference but are easily rolled up. I also don't really wear jumpsuits or one pieces in the wilderness because its too hard to manuever during restroom needs. These are perfect however to work in the garden with or when im working on my hobby car. If you are looking for a good working outfit this is it.

Strong, durable, comfortable overalls. LOVE THEM

I love these Trailsmith Shorts Overalls. They are comfortable, durable and the shorts are a perfect length. I live in the desert where everything wants to snag your clothes but these shorts are made for here. I have used them doing yard work and hiking. I just can't say enough about how comfortable and sturdy they are. I feel like this is how clothes used to be made, to LAST! I'm 5'8" and 130 lbs and I'm wearing a size 6. They are a a bit big in the belly area but I was able to adjust that a bit with the over the shoulder straps. I really like the color. A nice change from rust, blue or black. I would highly recommend these to a friend. These shorts will last forever.

Durable and outdoor proof! Odd fitting on the top

As a huge overall fan, I was excited to add these to my line up! The fabric is tough and not stretchy, so it seems outdoor proof (I like to farm and work outside in my overalls, as well as wear them casually). I ordered a size 8, and for reference I am 150lbs, 5'7 and have curvy hips. The overalls fit great on the bottom half. I prefer to cuff the bottoms to make them slightly shorter. The top half is not as fitted. There are gaps between my chest and the front of the overalls (which does leave room if you are larger chested), making the top half feel boxy- but I'm still enjoying them. The straps are easy to adjust, as well as stretchy and comfortable! The side and back pockets fit my iPhone 13.

Great for Chill Adventures!

These cute, yet functional overall shorties transcend your 'fit. While I won't be wearing them for any technical adventures, they're really fun to romp around the campsite in, go for a casual hike in, or grab a drink with some friends in a mountain town. (TLDR - Pros: fit had unexpected dexterity; style/color; material warded off Cholla spines; length of shorts covered area of thigh especially prone to chaffing. Cons: if you're tall = major tube effect from side angle; material's dexterity limited to walking, squatting, sitting (but sizing up might permit more ROM); color in hot places; sweat lingers.) Because these bad-boys are made out of a cotton, denim-like material, I expected them to be pretty inflexible. I was pleasantly surprised by how well these cotton, denim-like overalls moved with my body: they passed the deep squat test with ease, and I don't feel any awkward tugging at the waistline while I walk. They did not, however, pass the rock climbing test: single high-leg moves we're largely inhibited (aka: you wont be mantelling anything in these). Note, however, sizing up might allow for something like this. The length of the shorts is perfect for long walks/hikes. It covers that portion of your thigh that can be prone to chaffing. As a desert-dwelling adventurer, the fabric was really great protection from encounters with all the spikies. They do get stuck in the fabric, but that avoids them getting stuck in you! For fellow desert-dwelling adventurers, the dark colors may not be for you. I took these Cococino National Forest in mid-march for a solo camping adventure and found them to get very hot, very fast in the sun. And the sweat really lingers on this material. That being said, I recommend either limiting these to cooler days and/or getting as light of color as you can. As a tall girlie, I did get a big of the dreaded "tube" effect from these. I suspect this could change however as the fabric wears in a bit more. That being said, I still really the style: it's rugged and simple and elevates the adventure vibes. Overall, highly recommend for chill adventures. Would not recommend, however, for technical, high-intensity, or high-heat activities. **Note while I regretfully didn't get any photos while I was out solo adventuring (phone died :| ), below are some images highlighting some of the design aspects mentioned above.

Multi-purpose and high quality

I wore the overalls hiking with a backpack, hiking with my baby in a backpack, gardening, and shooting archery. The fabric is high quality and seems it will last a long time even with heavy use. It is heavier fabric, so won’t be as good as hiking fabrics for summer hikes. The straps are flexible which was great for archery. Sometimes overall clips slide along the straps, but these stayed in place for all activities.

Comfortable, Durable and Versatile Overalls

These overalls are comfortable, durable and made well. Not only are the straps adjustable but they also have a stretch in case you need to user that if you have a larger chest area. You can even adjust the shorts by rolling it up to fit to your liking and also have a different look. Choosing the black color is not a jet black but more like a weathered black. Make sure you get one true to size as there is no flex throughput the material.

Love these but

Cute & comfortable but REI obviously didn't test these on a rigorous hike because the SEAM around the shorts causes massive chaffing. I flipped up the short bottoms after about 3 miles of a 9 mile hike and it wasn't so bad but there was still a seam right between my thighs. Come on man don't call them trailsmiths if you don't actually test them for hiking.

Comfy and sturdy - bigger sizes please!

I’m going to live in these overalls this summer! Super comfy, but sturdy. Lots of good pockets. I’m 5’3, 200 pounds and the 14 fit me perfectly. I do wish they came in bigger sizes though! Everyone should be able to enjoy these!

High quality and functional gardening overalls

These overalls are great! I love the light plum color and the material feels extremely durable and sturdy. As someone with a short torso, I appreciated that the adjustable shoulder straps could be significantly shortened. The straps are also nice and wide so they don’t dig into your shoulders if you load up the pockets (there are 2 pockets on the chest, 2 front hip pockets, and 2 back pockets). The overalls are great for gardening and home improvement projects where it’s helpful to have easy access to tools and various bits and bobs. Overall, I’d say it’s a high quality functional piece. A note on sizing: this is my fault for not paying closer attention to the sizing charts, but I ordered my normal size and found that these overalls ran a bit large for my preference. There was a fair amount of extra room between my body and the overalls. Some might prefer the looser fit, but I wish I had sized down for something more fitted.
