Good Casual Sneakers
In general, ok casual/light sports sneakers. I tested the pair on "regular" work at office and walked with it along our neighbourhood with dog, comfortable on toes and sides of my feet, a little squeezed and not quite "breathable" probably due to the waterproof feature included. I tried the pair over an easy mountain slope hikes and felt okay too. The bottom of sneakers does provide some traction on dirt, and also provided enough protection/support around the heels. The portion below ankle on the sneakers felt a little too "thin" when I walked downhill on the trail, thus causing some sort of knee pain but the effect could be ignored.
Good-looking, Fashionable Waterproof Sneaker
This review is solely from the cosmetic look and feel of the product in my hands, as the size 10 boot is not fitting my foot. I really enjoy the look of the boot and would absolutely wear this with an outdoor-fashion style. The tread isn’t particularly great, but they are not advertised as boots, so it isn’t trying to be something it isn’t. The inside is a nice soft texture that would be really warm, and the fake leather looks and feels great. There is a picture I attempted to include of water pouring over the boot, and it repels the water and any drops just bead up and do not soak into the material. Overall I think these are a great-looking fashionable boot-style sneaker that would make for an excellent option for going out in the rain.
Sharp looking casual boot
Very nice casual boot, more sneaker like. I wore them out several times over the course of a week during a stay in Southern California. Beach weather dropping into the low mid 60’s temperature wise. Feet stayed warm and they looked sharp paired with a simple pair of jeans. I ordered up a half size, and the fit is perfect. I feel they run a bit on the smaller and more narrow side. Overall, very impressed and can’t wait to wear them in colder climate this winter.
They look great, but run a bit small
I was excited to see some stylish sneakers that were insulated! Perfect for winter right around the corner. The first thing to notice when opening the package is the company definitely stays true to their environmental claims, with no excessive (or plastic!) packaging. Love it! These shoes are definitely good looking; and the details, such as the cork logo band on the ankle definitely add to the aesthetic. The grey pairs well with the gum soles, and again the details: the stitching to match the sole helps pull everything together really well. So how about the insulation and comfort? Well they are definitely insulated and it's nice and soft... but (here comes the but) they run small. For reference, I wear a 10.5 in both Vans and Danners and it's a comfortable fit -- I got these SAOLAs in an 11 and it was tight. Real tight. Forget adding fluffy socks to add more warmth for me. With some thin socks they were still pretty snug, but hopefully with some more mileage they'll loosen up a bit before my toes get too angry at me. So that being said, I'd suggest going up a full size; especially if you want the option to add winter socks for more warmth. Overall, they've felt like a solid shoe and are pretty darn stylish for cold weather footwear -- just beware of the sizing.
Good for the environment and your feet
The shoes have a wonderful leather-like texture to them. There's a good amount of padding around the top so I wasn't worried about that rubbing too much with ankle high socks. The laces are braided backwards so I re-laced them before going for a walk. The insert is made of cork so I was concerned that they wouldn't have much padding but they felt great. I was on a 4 mile walk and the asphalt wasn't bad at all. They broke in pretty quickly and the walk was great. The tread is more for flat or slightly inclined walking. It's inline with converse or vans in terms of grip.
Great Shoe If You have Narrower feet
I was excited to receive this shoe because it appeals to my lifestyle and meets my style. Upon receiving the sneakers, I could immediately tell that their design and materials were well thought-out. The tread design is great for gripping slippery surfaces, such as rocks when crossing a creek. The red laces add a nice pop of color. The collar and tongue are lined with soft material, which feels great on the ankle when using shorter socks. There are lacing hooks high up on the collar, which really help to lock the ankle. The shoe itself is lightweight and flexible. I wanted to like this shoe, but couldn't as I have wider feet and the fit is for narrow feet, which is why I can't give 5 stars. I had my friend try on the shoe, who has narrower feet, and they let me know if was super comfy. With it's weight, you feel like your not even wearing shoes. This would be beneficial to someone hiking in the Southeast as you can have a lightweight, breathable shoe with great traction on wet surfaces. The look of this shoes put it at home on the trail while equally being able to wear it out for a night on the town.
Nice and warm but a bit narrow.
I've been looking for some stylish waterproof shoes and these fit the bill perfectly. Nice and warm with a high top. The opening is a bit tight to slip in without loosening or holding the back loop but quick and simple to lace up with the metal hooks. My feet are a bit wide so brand new the shoes are tight. Hoping they will stretch out over time and be a perfect fit. Wish they had wider options. Overall a great shoe.
Great looking waterproof shoes for narrow feet
Where these shoes stand out is in aesthetics, versatility, and keeping my feet dry. These shoes look great and don't look out of place as a daily, causal shoe for those colder, rainy days in the city or on a light hike. I like that they keep my feet dry on rainy days—even after walking through some bigger puddles—without looking like a rain boot. Another positive is that they are very easy to clean, even after a muddy, gravel hike. Where these shoes lose a star though is in comfort. These shoes feel a little narrow even though the length is right. I've never had to wear wide shoes, but in these I would. They also don't have much arch support so my feet get tired after only a couple hours walking in them. I would switch out the shoe insert for a more supportive one, but because of how narrow the shoe is (even after loosening the laces) there's too much pressure on the sides and top of my feet. I also probably won't wear these in weather colder than 40 degrees (F) since they're too narrow to wear with thicker socks and at that temperature, my feet did start to feel a little cold. The good thing is that my feet have never felt hot wearing these even in the high 60's. Overall, I like to wear these shoes for short stints out and about or commuting in the city when it's wet and raining because of how great they look, but I don't reach for them when I know I will be on my feet for a long time.
Great shoes, sizing was a bit tight.
I'm having a hard time reviewing these as the size was just not right for me. In sneakers I wear 11.5 and these are 11.5 but a bit on the small side, length and width. I feel if they were the right size they would have been great. Other than the sizing the feel putting them on is very nice and walking around my house, sidewalks and downtown Knoxville was all comfortable until the size became bothersome. I think the soft fabric at the top helped too as they give a bit there. I am not generally a fan of high top shoes but these didnt bother my ankles like other high tops have in the past. I feel the look is awesome! I have a lot of green shirts and khaki shorts and these fit with all of them. They have a dressier look but still casual. The heel and toe grips are no joke. I don't think I could slip in these if I tried. The gap between the toe and heel grip was odd at first but it almost felt like i was given an extra spring to my step. The temperature has cooled a bit but it is still warm outside and my feet stayed a little clammier than I would prefer. I think these will be better in the cooler months. It has also been dry so I was not able to test the waterproofing but they seem like they will hold up very well in the rain. My feet always sweat in high tops so this may just be a personal issue. All in all, I'm hoping I can stretch these out a little and leave them a hair loose as they have many great qualities: comfort, warmth, waterproof and look. I would suggest trying the size on first or going a half to a full size bigger and if your feet run wide, see if there is a wider version. After about 3 weeks of on and off use these have stretched slightly and are more comfortable. Still a hair short but other than that I would say 5 stars
