Tasty and very filling, with balanced nutrition

I've never had breakfast hash so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was quite satisifed with the taste, flavor and amount in this light yet well balanced nutritional package. Would recommend to anyone backpacking or trying to pack light for a camping trip. Though it says its 1 serving, I shared with my partner and we were more than satisfied with the 2 portions we made from the package. I may recommend you add a little hot sauce for a kick but not entirely necessary. The only issue I had was eyeballing the required amount of water. There is a dashed line on the package but I am not sure if that is the fill-to line since it seemed like I added too much water. So make sure you have a measuring cup of some sort with you if you take it on an adventure.

Delicious but a little finicky

I was excited to try the Good To-Go Breakfast Hash, because it's often difficult to get adequate fruit and vegetables on the trail. I tried this at home for my first go, because I avoid trying new foods on the trail. My digestion is pretty solid but why take chances. That said, I did prepare it just like on the trail. I followed the directions exactly, at least as much as they allowed. I say this because the direction's measurements were not exact. Huh? They state "a little more than one cup" of "BOILING water". In the end, I guessed right, but I didn't appreciate the vagary. The soak time was 15 minutes. The first thing I noticed opening in the bag was the smell. It smelled really good! So I did the final stir thoroughly and took a bite. Delicious!! But now, the bad part. The vegetables were still a little crunchy. And worse, I got a hard surprise with a chunk of the feta (about the size of a single dice). Dang! I actually checked it to make sure it was food. It was densely hard, though not tooth breaking hard. (And yes, I made sure the water was at a rolling boil before I added it.) So, I resealed the bag and gave it another 10 minutes. This time was much better, the vegetables were just right, and the whole thing wasn't too saucy. The feta was still too hard, but at least it was edible. It did tasted very good. I feel like the company kept the chunks larger to change up the texture, but I believe it would have rehydrated better in smaller pieces. The meal was filling too. I ended up only eating half, and saved the rest for lunch. I found the taste almost as satisfying at room temp. Will I buy this again? Definitely yes. I will play with cold soaking at 2/3 cup, to mitigate the feta issue, and then add a half cup of boiling water to serve. Overall, I really enjoyed the flavor and meal, so it is worth playing with prep to perfect it.

Hard pass

I'm not sure how this managed to be both soggy and uncomfortably crunchy at the same time? The flavor was good but the texture was so off. It felt like eating oatmeal with small pieces of gravel mixed in.

not good at all

I am trying to eat this right now at camp and I just can’t. I let it soak a LONG time, but still has crunchy bits and the taste-not something I want to start my day with. Sorry but just was so bad I had to vent immediately by submitting a review.

Tasty but doesn't rehydrate well

I tried this actually for dinner. The flavor was not bad but the vegetables didn't hydrate adequately. I put in more water like I usually do and allowed and additional 10 min. I rehydrated using boiling water and an insulated pouch so it did not cool much during the rehydration process. I shouldn't have eaten it all because it left me with intestinal difficulties for 2 days afterwards.

meh

The flavor is fine - but not what I crave with a savory breakfast. The worst part was it doesn’t re-hydrate well (and I wasn’t at elevation)! I think it was the feta that didn’t re-hydrate AT ALL. Just dry chunks that explode like cardboard dust in your mouth.

Sweet spinach mush with crunchy bits

the overwhelming flavors for me were spinach and rosemary. it was not satisfying as a meal at all, I really had to force myself through it. I agree with the soggy yet crunch reviews. The only savior was the feta bits.

Simply Horrible!

Out of an order comprised of eleven total backpacking meal pouches from several different brands purchased for a lengthy trip, this one - the only one I got from Good To Go - was the absolute worst of the bunch. This is the only dehydrated backpacking meal that I have ever had in my entire life that had me choosing to stop eating and throw it in the trash after only a couple of bites. It tasted that bad! When I read "breakfast hash," I had notions of eggs and potatoes, maybe some rice or other grains, a bit of cheese, and some savory seasonings. Reading the actual description, however, I was surprised to find something quite different from that, albeit one that still sounded intriguing enough to try out. Well, when it came time to do so, and I added the hot water and stirred it up, I was hit with an unpleasantly pungent odor that I figured would surely mellow and become more appetizing as the various ingredients and flavors blended and cooked; however, when I opened the pouch after the directed amount of time, stirred the contents up again, and took a bite...boy howdy, was it ever awful! It was bitter and nasty, and I pretty quickly resolved myself to just having a couple of extra breakfast bars and dried fruit that morning instead of eating this vile sludge. Based on this experience, I think that I'll be "good to go" right on past this brand in the future and leave it on the shelf in favor of other, far better options.

Delicious and plenty for two.

Great flavor, will definitely buy again. some of the chunks were a little finicky and didn't soften, but 99% majority were a good texture. Serving says for 1, but I split this into two meals. If it had an egg too, it would be perfect.

Great Flavor

This was a refreshing change in flavor. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Make sure you cook it correctly and give it a good stir to evenly distribute the flavor throughout the package.
