Great stiff boots for advanced skiers
Bought them locally (not REI store) and had them fitted properly. The heat molding took care of all my usual hotspots. I downsized them despite having high arches. My last super old Salomon were 28.5. This time I was fitted into 27.5 despite my boot fitter worrying about my insteps. My foot length is 27, but my measurement around my arch is 29. Still felt fairly easy to get into. Love the stiffness for my style of skiing, fast aggressive GS carving on mostly groomed trails in resorts. 5'11" 185 lbs, advanced skier. Highly recommend to try them and have them properly fitted, with heat molding the shell and inner boots separately.
They work as advertised
I’ve only skied these Salomon S/Pro Supra BOA GW 120 boots three days so far and obviously only on made-made ice here in Denver so my review is pretty basic at this time. I usually ski on anything but groomed runs when conditions allow. My previous boots are Full Tilt / Tom Wallisch. When boot fitters see my feet they usually say I’m a low volume candidate. What I like most about these boots is the general snug fit around my ankle/leg and heel hold. The extra last in my forefoot as compared to my Full Tilts is a nice addition. I also like the adjustment in the back that allows me to adjust the stiffness. This will be useful in the bumps. I previously tried the K2 BOA boots at another retailer and I felt like my ankle and leg were swimming with no heel hold. The BOA system is a positive both in how it tightens the lower boot but also the ease of not having to deal with two additional buckles. I very much dislike the buckles on my Full Tilts. I did have the boots bumped out for my navicular bones and REI did it while I waited. Ski boots are all about fit / feel / comfort and for me I’m very happy so far.
Great boots for women too
These boots are great. Women's size 9.5/10, and I got a 26.5. I wanted a super stiff boot and women's ski boots aren't made with the same stiffness, alas. I have to tighten them quite a bit because my foot is on the narrow side, but now that I've figured out the right settings, they've been great in a range of conditions. I've been really happy with how responsive they feel. Definitely recommend!
