My immediate first impression was that these hiking boots are really light in weight. My second impression was that they really didn't need to be broken in. These boots were comfortable from the get go. I used a more summer weight hiking sock for my first few hikes. I was able to adjust the boots to fit snuggly without discomfort. I used a heavier sock in subsequent hikes and still felt that the boots were very comfortable. They lace up well and have a comfortable feel around my higher ankle area. The arch support was excellent. I normally wear a size 9 1/2 shoe or boot, but can often fit well with the size 10 that I tested. I was on both smooth terrain and some rocky terrain, and still, the boot maintained its comfort and apparent durability. I was unable to hike in wet weather, so I cannot predict how well the boots would keep my feet from getting wet. But the construction of the boot informs me that my feet would still be comfortable in wet weather. I really liked the fact that the boots were not heavy. This allowed me to keep a really good pace and truly enjoy the outdoor walk or hike. I am very pleased with these boots and look forward to wearing them on additional hikes.
These stylish boots arrived last week. They are light in weight and have a true to size fit. I have two pairs of older Asolo’s for comparison. I found the toe box on these to be just a bit wider. Also, these come with a removable insole that provides just enough cushion. Given the fit, I saw no need for break-in before taking these out on the trail. My first use was a four mile off-trail hike that included multiple stream crossings and steep climbs. These boots are stable, comfortable, and waterproof. The soles are stiff enough to keep surface contact and the lugs are grippy. Ascending and descending the steep grades was easy. The boots provided ample stability and support. My feet had zero issues with these boots. I had no abrasions, blisters, or hot spots. The boot features a full heel cut that will accommodate a bottom strap to secure gaiters. This will prevent unnecessary wear and tear on that strap. I can’t speak to the long-term durability, but the boot is well made. I noted no defects. If you are looking for a good pair of lightweight, waterproof hikers that require no break-in I highly recommend these.
I have primarily used these for hiking. I live in the PNW, so these boots have been exposed to all kinds of trails to include steep, rocky, wet, loose, and/or dry trails. I generally try to wear my hiking boots around the neighborhood a couple of times to adjust to the feet before taking on a long hike. However, these bad boys held up well straight out of the box and onto a fairly difficult hike. I noticed right away that they formed to my foot and went straight to work. Fairly lightweight and breathable for being a waterproof boot. The one downside is the insole was a little too firm for me. I’d recommend a different insert if you are like me and like a softer insole. However, I was very impressed with how sturdy the bottom sole was. It held form and I felt no discomfort when hiking over sharp and jagged rocks. It was also one of the grippier boots I’ve worn. I tracked through some creek and low water areas, and I found the boot sticks to the terrain without slipping. The boot is a little warm on those hot days, but it breathes fairly well. The waterproof ability appears to work fairly well. That’s something that would need to be tested over multiple seasons to see how it holds up. I did notice the construction throughout the boot seemed strong. I didn’t notice any portions of the boots that seemed to be of poor construction. I expect these will last a long time, and I am excited to make them my primary mode of transportation on the mountain. They fit more or less true to size. I wear size 12 and I found these fairly close to what a 12.25 would be. Plenty of space in the toe box, which I like. Overall, great hiking boot for wherever you hike.
When I first received the Asolo Men's Falcon EVO Jacquard GV Hiking Boots I was struck with how light they are and to this day I still am impressed with there lightness that makes these my go to boot, in place of my older nubuck and leather hiking boots. In regards to there lightness I was concerned there would be compromises on stability or overall foot support but I am really impressed that there is no compromise at all in these areas. These are well balanced, supportive and comfortable hiking boots I would use on all occasions, seasons and terrains. No complaints but a request for next version would be to take the sides of the tongue up a little higher to give fuller height to the waterproof protection.
This is a solid shoe. The first thing that attracted me was the color scheme. Candidly, I liked the color scheme so much that I didn't want to get the shoes dirty by going for a hike or walk on something other than pavement. Upon slipping them on, I felt a sense of comfort that is not present in all comparable shoes. The toe box in particular was an element thatr stood out. It was large enough to not squish my feet. Also, the padding in the heel was sufficient. The laces are good. I worry about how often it will come untied. Certain brands have laces that seems to come untied easy while other remain intact. these Asolos appear to be one of the better laces. I did struggle to find the right sock thickness to give me the best fit. I like cushion, but also breathable, so I had to cycle through a few options. Overall a solid shoe worth trying out.
Used Lowa Renegades for years and ended up wanting to try a new style/brand. Decided to try out these Asolo's as I expected it was a reputable brand. Overall they seemed constructed well and the waterproofing was good. Upon first fit they were right on the money with my typical shoe size. Yet, after their first hike (about 18 miles) the area right under my forefoot and big toe(s) were feeling a ton of discomfort, and almost to the point of a numbing sensation. Nothing seemed to be able to change this, nor did trying to hike with them again with less weight. Also, the treads kicked up an exorbitant amount of dirt and debris into the shoe itself. No matter how tight I may have tied the tongue.. Overall, something about the fit just didnt work for my feet. I think otherwise they would be a decent shoe. But for now, im going back to the trusted Renegades.
Bought these before a hiking trip to Pinnacles NP. Didn't get a chance to break them in and I was hesitant to take these. They are, by far, the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever purchased. in the past i have purchased numerous Solomons and swore by them until I got these. Very comfortable toe box and they feel very supportive and have an amazing grip. When they wear out I would buy again!
