Needed shoe for multi-day bikepacking trips. Ample toebox, which is great for using wool socks in cold/wet weather conditions. Boa fastening system locks foot to shoe bed for efficient pedaling. Ankle sleeve provides comfortable snug feel and keeps trail debris (rocks, sticks, stickers) out of shoe bed. Forward Velcro strap could be beefier but does hold in place. Mesh uppers shed water quickly after creek crossings. 510 rubber and Adidas lasting seems like a good marriage. Very happy after several back country rides and 4-day bikepacking trip in cold weather.
Hike a bikes were destroying my xc shoes and i wanted trail shoes that had boa or ratcheting adjustments. These check all the boxes. Not only are they comfortable walking, but i couldn't feel any flexing when pedaling out of the saddle! The toe box is roomier than most shoes, but the retention system snugs everything down comfortably! surprisingly light for a trail shoe! very happy with these shoes so far
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice shoe. Stiff enough to give good power transfer, flexes enough for reasonable hike-a-bike. Plenty of grip from the sole for stomping on the pedal when you're still fumbling around trying to cleat-up. Light enough with decent toe protection. Like the extended cleat mounting range. Like the boa system; good pressure distribution so the upper wraps around your foot without pressure points. Liked these enough to get a second pair while they were on sale.
Shoes fit great right out of the box, seem quite comfortable and well constructed, fairly lightweight for being a trail shoe. I like the neoprene mini gater, although it does make it a bit tougher to put them on. Since i bought them in early winter, and I live in Northern MN, I've only tried them on one ride and they worked great considering it was just below freezing that day. I think they will work great for bikepacking and cooler weather rides.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shoe has Boa which the fit can be dialed in. No complaints there. The liner sock feels good and makes my foot feel very secure. I use this with spd cleats, and it slides right into place perfectly. I really like the craftmanship and build of this shoe. I can't do velcro only shoes anymore as I feel about 1 hour into rides the velcro loosens up. Which can be an annoyance when climbing. The Boa strings are not metal but a nylon or thread.
Been smashing feet and toes while riding in rocks and felt foot protection on most mtb shoes lacking…purchased some 5 ten shoes this shoe has great foot protection, amazing comfort good grip and can walk in without sounding like I’m wearing heels Sad I’ve gone this long without owning shoes like this. It’s a fantastic product Make the goretex version for spds and I’ll buy them immediately as well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect for my riding style; gravel bike on fire roads and pavement. Easy, SPD engagement and release. Super comfortable with a true-to-size fit. For reference, I wear a US 11 shoe; EU 45.5 in Shimano and 45 in Specialized. Only issue I’ve had are the heel tabs being a little short to get a grip to pull the shoes on. Added pull-tabs to the heel tabs to lengthen them and they work fine now.
Great aesthetic design, fabric / materials have seem to hold /last. Good quality. Unfortunately ankle support seems to have been overlooked. The material that surrounds the ankle is soft and the BOA system does not extend up into the ankle area really well unless the shoe is over tightened. I recommend this shoe for light trail ridding. Not enduro or gravity of any kind
The Order was cancelled because the item was no longer available in REI. No charge was made. The good news is I found the same from another website several dollars cheaper. Even with REI's dividend factored in the REI retail, the other vendor was still cheaper incl. tax, free shipping and fast delivery. And the shoes fit well by the way.
These are good shoes, but the BOA itself come loose too easily and the sizing is way off - I wear a size 11 in all shoes, but the size 11 of these that I bought are really 11.75's.
