Almost Great
Much to like about this jacket for climbing, but it isn't quite perfect. I'm 6'2"/180 and as with most jackets for me, size M is too tight on the shoulders/chest and size L is a bit too big everywhere else. Between the jacket length, arm length, and stretch, this jacket stays put under a harness better than others I've tried. Hood fits over a helmet too, which is a plus. But the neck is cut a little low and loose, which can let cold air in. And the wind resistance leaves something to be desired -- maybe this is an inherent trade-off given the stretch material.
Nice puffy
I have had this puffy for a few weeks and so far so good. I have lots of compliments on the look and the fit is pretty good. The fabric is soft and packs down great in the pack. I have not put it through any durability test crawling through scrub oak or skinning through trees so no insight on that aspect. I'm 6'2" and 230 lb and the XL is great. The arms are finally long enough that when you reach for an item or tighten gear the sleeve doesn't pull up to your forearms.
Super comfortable and versatile hoody
This hoody is so comfortable and breathable that it can be used as both a top layer in cool or more strenuous activities and as a mid layer under your shell when it’s cold. I use this for winter biking as a top layer when it’s cold and as a mid layer for alpine skiing. I like it more than baffled jackets as it washes well and seems more durable. There aren’t many competitors out there that can accomplish what this can do.
Great all weather
I only wear this and my northface version doing everything. The jacket keeps you mostly dry in a light rain/heavy rain expect to feel it after a while. But impressed that the jacket doesn't overheat me if the weather starts warming up while I'm out. Super comfy, if I ride my motorcycle its a great under jacket. A little cautious around the arms for short-term wear and tear.
Comfortable and warm. Low key for everyday wear.
Don't get me wrong I love rocking a puffer from time to time but if you're looking for a more low key hoodie this is the one. Lightweight, warm, comfortable. Doesn't pack as well as the puffer but it's a different tool for a different job. Fit is great. I'm 6ft 3in 180lbs I always order a large for BD and this one fits just like the rest.
Warm and Fits Well
This hoody fits well. I'm 6'2", 173 lbs, and wear a medium. There is room for layering. The hoody fits well at the neck line to keep out cold air. I purchased the hoody for ice climbing and have yet to take it on a climb but I think it will perform well. I wish it had better wind breaking qualities.
Fantastic hoodie
Took this for a spin at Tahquitz Rock this weekend. 40 degrees, 30 mph winds, this was the only layer I used all day. Warm and windproof, highly recommend for any long, burly activity. This is also one of the only in-class jackets with appropriate arm lengths. I'm 6'1" 190lbs and wear a medium.
Quality degraded
I have earlier version of this jacket ( there is no front chest pocket) for about 7 years - it was perfect, light, warm, breathable. I bought this past season latest model and material is crap. After very light use there are pills or lint balls on the back of the jacket. Very disappointed
Fits Large
I wear medium in Black Diamond T shirts and the Belay Parka, but this hoody fits too large. The hood without a helmet is large and falls down into my eyes. I wish the face opening with the hood up was a little smaller/tighter so less wind can enter. Soft and comfortable material though.
If your wondering whether or not to buy it, you will love it!
Seriously one of the warmest comfiest puff jackets I own. I wear this as a mid layer on winter summits and as a jacket over a t shirt in day to day life. Seriously versatile and comfortable. This jacket is one of the reasons I’m such a BD fan.
