A solid alternative to the women’s model
A size small is a good alternative to women’s size medium for women wanting straight profile jacket. The front zip doesn’t have a “baffle” to block stiff winds or give a cozier neck feel, but the fleece itself is cozy. Most people know not to opt for a fleece jacket if going out into wind or colder weather; fleece is a mid layer and a lighter alternative to a sweatshirt, which performs better if it gets wet. Mainly chose this over the women’s model because it has zip pockets and the women’s model had open pockets. Why do designers think only men want zip pockets?
The excellence you would expect from Patagonia
This hooded garment is a bit warmer than you might think. It has a nice short fleece that is soft on the skin. It behaves a bit like wool in that it will insulate well even when you get caught in rain. The sleeves don’t have thumb holes but the simple elastic cuff can easily cover some, or all, of your hand if needed. The hood is large enough to fit over a beanie. I typically wear a ball cap so the opening around the face is slightly looser than I would prefer. In a strong head wind, you will be using one hand at your throat to pull the hood tight around your ears. This is a very well made garment that I fully expect to last 5 years or more. Excellent seams and zippers.
Everyday thin yet warm sweater
I gifted this and my son really liked the light gray color, the satin like inside that glides off his shirts, the pockets, and the warmth yet thin & pliable to wear under his train jacket. It's sort of form fitting on a comfy way. Nice if you want to sort of show off muscle. So I sized up as my son likes loose fitting and it fit perfect. He's been wearing it every chance.
