Snug and versatile
This hat is just what Ive been looking for. Adjustable size buckle in back, air vent, waterproof, AND lightly insulated with ear flaps AND a nice size bill. Perfect for a cool rainy day, or a cold morning with low sun in the sky. Super versatile for a bald guy or anyone with hair. Great cap for cool/cold temps and/or rainy weather

Does not fit my head and ears
Does not fit my large head. (My head is on the large size, but not extraordinary. For a typical adjustable baseball-style hat, I use the next-to-largest snap position.) Also, the flaps do not cover my ears.

Great for Florida Winters.

Add "comfort rated down to 60degF, on a sunny day with no wind". This cap not only has zero insulation, but I swear my head feels colder with it on. It has wind stopping on par with a screen door, which does mean it is breathable, thus the one star. The "brushed" interior does not stop wind or cold, but will soak up sweat and make it feel cooler. The vent on the back-top seems pointless, just adding to the lack of warmth, but it lets plenty of ventilation through the fabric without that vent. The brim is nice. The DWR coating does bead up a light sprinkle for a couple minutes, as long as you do not touch the surface. On the plus side it expands enough to wear a Buff under it or you can put a beanie over it to add some warmth, although not as much as using those separately. Good use would be for keeping a warm summer rain out of your eyes with the nice brim, or maybe for sun protection for your ears on a sunny warm day. The $40 cost is way too high for this non-functional item that might work as a Winter cap in Florida or Southern California. .

A "Must Have"

I love this cap so much that I bought extras (as backup)! I use this cap with (and without) the ear flaps. It's wonderful for those days when the temps are dropping and you just want a little extra warmth and coverage from the chilling winds on your ears.

Love this versatile hat!

I've had this hat for 10 days and have worn it almost daily in various conditions - sunny, light rain, snowing, windy and calm - and in temperatures between 25° and 40° F. It repels water and has kept my head and ears dry and warm under all conditions. The brim is large enough to shade your eyes from the sun and protect eyeglasses from rain or snow. It's comfortable with the flaps up for indoors or warmer weather and is nice looking - the ear flaps are not noticeable when neatly tucked under the cap. In cold or windy conditions the ear flaps are surprisingly warm. The fit changes slightly with the ear flaps up or down but not enough where I've needed to adjust the size of the hat. The reflective trim on the REI logo, brim and rear of the hat is an added bonus when out at night.

If It Don't Fit, Don't Go with It!

The idea is great here, but the execution is lacking. Will there be another iteration? Hope so. The lid is just a little odd. The brim is a bit too curved, when the earflaps are down, the hat tends to pull back, and the open slit in the back -- why!?! The slit lets in a cold breeze on the back of the head. It is great that it is water resistant and warm, but not quite there. You can do it with the next version!

Nice cap!

I am very happy with this cap. I bought it with my REI dividend. It was 50% off. The cap has a thin layer of fleece insulation. Nicer than a baseball cap. The earflaps seem a bit floppy and will take getting used to but the added bit of insulation makes this a nice cap for when my wool beanie is overkill. The original price was too high but at half-off this was a good purchase.

nice hat

Hat is warm and the ear flaps are great. My only issue is that it is a little tight for a hat size 7.5 head. It is starting to loosen up though. I would purchase it again.

Warm and versatile

Got this as a gift and he loves it! Super convenient to drop the flaps over your ears to keep them warm outside, then you can easily tuck them up into the cap when indoors. Very warm and it has been his go to hat this winter.
