This vest is great for long distance running and day hikes. I really like having the flasks on the chest rather than a bigger bladder on the back. The weight stays put and doesn't sway side to side. The soft flasks collapse as you drink from them so the water doesn't slosh around like it does in a hard flask. Cleaning is easy too. Since they don't have a tube leading to the mouthpiece, most times I only have to drain the flasks, and wash the bite valves. The stretch materials keeps the vest super snug so it doesn't move around or bounce. The vest seems to weigh less than others that I've used and it dries quickly. There is a lot of storage for taking fuel gels, granola bars, a phone, map, and other essentials. I'm now using this instead of my daypack on most hikes. The only downside that I've found is that the loops for strapping gear down, can be a little annoying when they aren't being used. I've been trying to hook them to other loops or tuck them into pockets but they seem to find their way loose again. The ones at the bottom sides give me the most trouble. Still it's a very minor nuisance. I still love the vest.
One of the other reviews says there is no zips, this is untrue as mine has a small zipped compartment on the left side located inside the pocket. really great well made product I can fit my phone, keys, headphones and some other small personal items in the two front pockets with more room to spare, there is also a open space on the back to fit a light running jacket but I haven't tried this feature yet. I picked the small size and I really like how fitted this vest. no rubbing or chafing and the stretchy material used for the vest is pleasant and breathable. the included water bottles are good and feel well made.
I have tested a lot of vests for running and trailrunning, and this is by far the BEST! It fits so snug and nicely, nothing jumps or bounces around. The pockets are exactly where they should be and every item is easily accessible. I’m taking this out on pretty much every single run.
The Norvan running vest was delightful. It was lightweight and breathable. The clasps were a little tricky to get the hang of as far as putting on and taking off, I found a hook and twist motion worked for me, but they did their job well. The water bottle bladders worked well, too. The elastic strap kept them in place during my trail runs. The only issue I have with the water bottles is getting the to dry properly. I used a kids bottle drying rack to get them dry. I also thoroughly enjoyed the bounty of pockets to store things such as keys and snacks. What I found thoroughly surprising was how well it performed in the canopy of trees as I was performing tree work. It was nice to have two water bottles secured to my person and not need to rely on a groundie to send a water bottle up on my climb line. The high vis color was also nice as it provided a clear indication as to where I was in the work zone. All in all, a fine product from Arc’teryx.
Extremely lightweight & durable product. It barely feels like you're wearing anything and it is the perfect snugness for active adventures. The lacing/closure mechanism for the chest straps is rather confusing though with no apparent guide or indication which loops the strings are meant to go through for closure. All in all recommended and hopefully someone else can provide some guidance on the locking and tightening mechanism.
Product is great - refined and streamlined, with everything I need from a running vest of this volume, and nothing I don't. If you're looking for a simpler, cleaner running vest design, this is the one for you. Materials and build quality are great. It's my new daily driver. Some sizing beta, for folks who are interested: I am a consistent size Medium across every brand of outdoor gear that I use; I bought this vest in size Medium, and the fit is good. Per the Arc'teryx size chart for this product, 38.5" was the max recommended chest measurement for size Medium (I confirmed that with them), but I have a ~40+" chest and wouldn't want the vest to be any bigger/looser. FYI for folks who are curious about sizing. My advice is NOT to size up - go with the 'regular' size you usually buy.
As soon as I saw it, I appreciated the high visibility coloring and the reflective logo. I feel this is necessary for both in town near traffic and on the trail running while sharing the trail. Once I put it on, I knew it was a winner. It fit great with lots of pockets to hold everything I needed for the top of the mountain or a loop around the neighborhood. The hydration bladders it comes with distributed the weight well without all the sloshing around. It was great not having to bring a pack, it even held my summit sandwich without squishing it! Overall I'd say this was a big win!
Read an online review here about it not being a versatile piece of gear. It’s honestly perfect for the ultralight setup on a run or a mountain bike. I used it for the first time on a 80 mile bike ride where I didn’t want a hydration pack on my back since it’s rather uncomfortable. I didn’t even notice the weight of the vest even with the two bottles filled to the brim. Tons of storage space to hide your belongings such as snacks trash and your layers. I carried 3 gels and two larger carb mixes and it still felt like I could bring more. It fits perfectly with a bike jersey because you still have access with your jersey pockets and it doesn’t obstruct your reach. It’s a great piece of gear honestly.
I’ve used this on various runs and I can hands down say it’s well worth it. It’s big enough to fit your essentials for a day on the trails; while still being, comfortable, easy-to-use, and light. My favourite feature on this pack is how adjustable it is and how easy it is to clip on a pair of poles, lights, and an extra water or two.
I rang head office, because I did not understand the sizes , I took their advice and the product was a bit small, but i think it’s a bit pricey
