This is an awesome jacket. I have one in the black color from a few years ago and with this new Alpine Rose color and some other updates to the jacket, I decided to order this. I am 5 feet 2 inches tall and 113 pounds and ordered the Size Small. It is a great coat as is with the Coreloft insulation but on really cold days, it layers well with my Cerium SV underneath as a midlayer and the Sentinel is not bulky at all with this underneath. The two side pockets are large and the zippers are very smooth. The hood is generous and can be cinched up tightly. The material is slightly thicker than my other Sentinel. All in all, it's a wonderful jacket that can be worn from fall to early spring. Here is my YouTube review of this amazing jacket. https://youtu.be/e1frylemhKk?si=sSMqDPvWfKZbPqJZ
Great coat! Love the length of it. It’s a very relaxed fit making it easy to move in. I use it when I’m snowboard and found it very comfortable. It’s warm enough although you’ll definitely need a mid layer jacket on extremely cold days. My only complaint would be that there is no “inner cuff”/“storm cuff” to help keep the snow out. I ordered it online and was a bit disappointed that it didn’t have one. All and all it’s a great coat
This jacket is marketed as their big mountain ski resort jacket and it is the 3rd Sentinel I've owned. I own the shell jacket (love it!) and have an old insulated Sentinel that I wanted to upgrade. Unfortunately this new model is overly generous in cut, both width and length. I'm 5'10", bought the medium and it hits me mid-thigh, way too long for skiing. I have an older version of the Patera city jacket and they are the same length! It's also very roomy and I'd worry that I would get drafts on a cold day and it wouldn't be warm. Sadly I will be returning this and shopping for another brand.
Bought this for my daughter for Christmas because she loved the color. Compared to her gear from higher comparably priced brands, there is almost no insulation - certainly there is not enough in this jacket to differentiate it as the "insulated sentinel." She is a size small; the sleeves are strangely too long. We tried an XS and had the same problem with the sleeves. At this price point I might've expected some thoughtful design features too but this is just a nicely colored but shapeless parka. Wish we could return it but she removed the tags assuming she'd love it.
I was so disappointed when I received this jacket. It is significantly oversized in comparison to the regular Sentinel shell. The jacket comes more than halfway down my thigh, rather than the expected just below my butt of the regular Sentinel, and overall looks like a sack. Unfortunately I am having to return this jacket, and in turn the matching pants, which is a little sad because I am a huge Arc’teryx fan, and have loved all the other garments we have purchased in the past.
Unlike other reviews, I do not feel this jacket is horribly oversized nor fits like a bag. It fits just as shown in the photos. It is generous/not tight fitting, but not overly so. I purchased my regular size (small) and it fits well. I was worried based on the other reviews, but am happy that I took them with a grain of salt. As expected from Arc'teryx, this insulated jacket is high quality and very functional. I'm happy with my purchase.
Love it. It's an insulated shell, not a down parka. Once I accepted that fact, it's really great. Does run a bit large- I often buy L in Arcteryx for layering, and I can layer up in this M no problem. Zip hand pockets are huge, and 2 more pockets make it a better pocket situation than I expect from Arc. Great color. I'm 5'9" so appreciate the length, and powder skirt, for skiing.
New, out of the box and totally in love. Fabric feels good. Insulation, I’m more worried I may be too hot! But I’ll need it for the PNW when my liners just can’t cut it. Definitely gives off “flying purple people eater vibes”. Have to get on the slopes before I can give it a true 5/5 rating.
I just love my new jacket. Could not ask for a better one
