Sizing Notes

Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.

Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:

Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.

Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.

Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

IS THIS SHOE TRUE TO SIZE? The product Features above will provide a suggestion if Altra advises you to size up or down in this particular shoe. If no such note exists, please order your regular size.

Altra ADD and changing your mind like your shoes

Altra and REI folks, long time wearer for 15 years. Your shoes have been up and down, different styles tried out. One thing remains and even in your widest shoe. Widest does not mean that you make the top of the shoe higher; wider means the sides get wider especially where it curves in. The sides of my feet hang over the rubber. I am between an original and standard. I haven’t seen a Lone peak or all weather one since 2014. Even between the originals, the shoe has been changed and it is not just about making the sole wider. The Material on top either needs to have some give or have structure to hold the flesh in. I am on the Torin Leather right now and it is a standard that is not wide other wise my feet shifts around in the front. You mess with the tongue, the laces, the sole, etc on the different models. Cinderellas are not happy with the Altra world. Look at the majority of your reviews and make a stance over the life of the shoe and what sold. ‘It is all about making money right and happy customer, happy buyer. D

Comfy with lots of toe space!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you are looking for an athletic shoe with wiggle room this is it! I personally don't have wide feet, but these were still comfy shoes for walking, cross-training, and felt great after wearing them all day on my feet at work. No squished toes!

I would not buy this product again

I ordered the Black-- These are more dark green. These are also way bigger than the same size Paradigm 6. I've worn the Paradigm 6 for several years.

So comfortable and good looking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wearing this pair of Women's Paradigm 7 for work as I need to be on my feet all day with a lot of walking and moderately fast paced running back and forth. They feel comfortable and my feet were not tired out by the end of the workday. I also used it to go for a few runs through the last 2 weeks and they are great to run in. I like the easy to wear feeling and how lightweight they are. Great design too!

Comfortable support, good for wide feet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received these shoes for free in exchange for writing this review. I run moderate distances often, as well as daily walks with my dog so I was excited to try these shoes. I used to like a minimalist shoe but have found that I've needed more support to prevent pain during and after a run. I've found other high support shoes to feel clunky and heavy; these Altra shoes provide great support yet feel overall lightweight. They are cushiony and comfortable for both walking and running. I feel the aspects of the design of this shoe, such as the Balanced Cushioning, help to promote better form when running. I have put about 50 miles on these shoes so far and haven't found that I've had much of any of my typical pain after a run. I have ran in them on concrete, road, trail, and on a treadmill. They perform great all around. Sizing - I am typically an 8-8.5 in running shoes and the 8.5 in these overall fit well so I would say they are true to size, with a wider fit. The wide toe box was great for me as that is where I struggle the most with needing extra width in shoes. The design is attractive, I love the color options offered in this shoe. Overall a wonderful shoe with great support and a fit accommodating to wide feet!

Cozy and Supportive

Love these shoes! I use them primarily for walking/jogging with my dogs on concrete. They are very comfortable. This is my 4th pair (prior 3 pairs were the Paradigm 6). The blue was out of stock so I got the peach ones. They are very cute and I'm glad I was forced to get the new color. I have bunions and generally need to wear shoes with lots of cushion. My podiatrist recommended this brand and model and I find that I don't need to put my orthotics in them and don't experience pain in my feet. However, the footbeds are removable so orthotics will easily fit in them.

toe box smaller than expected

This looks and feels like a wonderfully shock absorbent shoe, but Altra has made the toe box on this design a little smaller than its signature practice. Altra does note this in their product description and I took a chance. However, I liked the roomier shoe better and so will order a different model

Paradigm 7 redesign made it worse!

Altra broke it! I've loved every version of Paradigms since version 3 when they helped me recover from plantar fasciiatis. I currently have three pairs of version 6 that I rotate. This version rubbed too much at the back and the fit seemed more narrow and long. I returned these and am searching for another brand. Bring back the fit of version 6 for version 8 please!!

Amazing shoes!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this shoe as a free sample and let me tell you I was skeptical at first but I love this shoe! It is so light but very comfortable. It conforms to your foot so we'll giving you support and cushion where you need it! It breathes very well too. My feet Don. Or feel hot or sweaty (especially in this heat). So no smelly feet. The wide toe design gives my toes enough room to move around. I thought it looked weird at first, the design that is but it's grown on me. I ca appreciate it now, it helps my feet feel not so confined.

Bit small but great fit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I buy my running shoes half a size to a fully size larger than my regular foot size (8.5). I requested half a size larger (9) with these running shoes and they were too tight for a running or walking. I feel the width was a bit tight too. I tried them on a few times and walked around my house. It was a bit disappointing that I requested the wrong size but I loved how they hugged my heel. I felt the paradigm 7 was a good shoe over all. It had a strong cushion to form to my arch, it hugged my heal nicely (usually my heal slides), and it was super light. I am going to see where it is sold so I can check out a different size.
