Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great mid-layer
I bought this after having last year's model. I like the material and the fit. It's consistent with last year's. It's a great layer over a t-shirt. I wear this for evening walks and disc golf. However 2 changes with this version are a draw back. First, there is no longer a reflective strip in the back just under the collar. I wear this when I go walking and I liked the reflective strip as a safety measure. Second, the pocket is smaller and moved feom the left side to the right side. As a lefty I dislike the change. But these things are minor and I'm going to probably get another one.

Decent outdoor layering shirt, a few reservations
Received free product
I've worn this shirt several times over a few weeks in a Virginia autumn that has varied from warm (mid-70s) to chilly (mid-40s). The material is comfortable and stretchy, and doesn't seem to bunch up or rub even when I'm warmed up from activity. Note: I'm 5'9" and 200 lbs wearing an XL, which seems to give plenty of space for movement with an undershirt beneath this one and a jacket on top. Pros: Love the thumb holes. Very glad men's athletic gear has figured out how to put those in on the regular. The material is soft, and after I got it VERY smelly with outdoor work and play it washed clean and didn't retain smell. It helped dissipate heat and moisture, and helped keep me both warm and cool without too much of either on autumn days. Cons: Unfortunately, men's athletic gear has also learned some bad lessons from women's athleisure wear. Namely: pointless pockets. This shirt has exactly one pocket (low on the right side) with a zipper. The pocket is mesh on the inside, and isn't really noticeable when not in use. But would you like to put your hand in there to reach something? Good luck--the zipper entry is tiny even for my not-very-huge hands. You won't be fishing anything out of there without really trying--especially if you're on the move. They could have made the pocket entry just 1" bigger and solved the problem. Also, I personally found the collar quite annoying. I'm not a turtleneck guy--if you are, this might be the shirt for you. But for me, the folded-over collar material (especially at the front near the zipper) is too stiff and I can feel it ALL. THE. TIME. when it's zipped up more than 75%. So I ended up leaving it mostly unzipped. I don't think I'd like running in the cold wearing this with the collar up. Overall a good shirt that will totally work for layering and general activity. But just a couple of traits that keep me from wanting more than one.

Functional piece of equipment

Received free product

The Active Pursuits Long Sleeve 1/4 zip is exactly what you'd expect out of a lightweight longsleeve. It can be used as a base layer for colder weather trips or as an outer layer for milder weather. I've used the Actice Pursuits around the bay area and specifically in San Francisco. The pullover excels for the low to mid-50's foggy morning SF runs and up to the mid-60’s for hikes and walks. What I like most are how REI designed the thumb loops. The cuffs look great and the thin loops seamlessly blend into the overall design, yet are fully functional if/when desired. I thought the size medium was a great fit. For reference I am 6', 185lbs, 43" chest and 33" waist. The medium fit fine as a base layer and over a t-shirt.

This is a cool & comfy pullover.

Received free product

This is a cool & comfy pullover. The material is quality stuff, the color hold pretty good after machine wash. the zipper is smooth. The small pocket on the side is useful. The thumb hole is good for maximum coverage of arms & hands. The pullover is breathable - I wore it in partly cloudy & sunny day. It was just perfect for a day when temps are hovering in 60s. The pullover folds pretty compact!

decent material but i think REI can do better

Received free product

it is a bit hot. i think this needs to be less soft and more sweat wicking or quick drying. weight feels a little heavy. nice for walking around as outer layer. zipper is nice with chin protector and i like the thumbholes too. i think the material just needs to be different

a solid layer

Received free product

I could tell right away that this layer would join the rotation. It is super light and breathable, but provides medium weight warmth. The slightly longer sleeves and thumb holes add to the snug fit...so that it doesn't get in the way when running or scrambling or doing other alpine activities. For a large it feels a hint big, it hangs a bit through the torso rather than fits tightly. Overall a comfortable layer (the material is soft) and will continue to wear during active outings.

Would make a great base layer for camp

Received free product

I am 5’10” 180 and this shirt length was just right. Hands over my head and only a sliver of of the shirt went over my waist. The sleeves have built in thumbs holes which every long sleeve product should have. The material is soft, I washed mine before taking it out and the size was comparable. I took it out paddle boarding on an 85 degree day for sun protection, while the shirt feels heavy I didn’t find myself sweating because of it. I got it wet to see how long it would take to dry and after an initial ringing out within 30 minutes it was comfortable and not sticking to me. The small waist pocket would be the right size for keys and maybe a small wallet it your phone will not fit in there. As I usually run hot I probably wouldn’t hike in it but will take it as a base layer for camping. Overall it accomplished the job of keeping the sun off of me and dried fairly quickly.

Great all around long sleeve shirt.

I really like this shirt, the fit is is correct and feels comfortable and light. I do like the pockets because I think you may need them at some point and I usually do find a need for them eventually. I think this shirt feels as comfortable as any of the other more expensive name brands out there making it a good cost effective alternative.
