Two way zipper (which no one wants) DOES NOT WORK

The zipper isn't so bad, you'll be fine

I lamented over a few jackets. The Nuuk, the Skogso, and this one. For reference, I am in the PNW where it rains a good amount, and use this jacket around 30°F with no issue. It's quite warm, flattering, and nice. Cons, the zipper *is* a pain. But you'll be thankful to have a two-way zipper when you need to sit down and can open it up from the bottom. Second con, the pockets sit really low? It's not a deal breaker, but I do wonder why they put them where they did. This jacket looks smart, wears well, and can handle what you throw at it. It's warm, waterproof, and ready to go. Definitely give it an A++

Great for NYC commuting!

After getting through a NYC December/January where conditions ranged from 40F with heavy rain to nearly 10F with strong wind and snow, I can officially say I love this jacket. It’s very stylish and the warm adjustable hood is a highlight. I prefer the flexibility of having a versatile “lighter” jacket that can get through three seasons but this jacket isn’t super light. When it got down into the 20s, I just layered with a light insulated vest and the jacket remained effective. I don’t understand some of the complaints in other reviews… two-way zippers are always a little more difficult to zip up but with the longer length of the jacket, it’s well worth it. And no, my arms didn’t get cold in the jacket either.

Well-loved Winter Parka

I am a 6'-4" 225 pound man and bought the XL size. It's roomy but not to much; just enough to add a layer if needed. First use was a trip to Yellowstone NP at the very end of September - weather was windy, rainy (occasional snow flurries) and somewhat cold with daytime temps in the low 30's (F),nights below freezing. Went on extensive back country hikes. Used this parka over a base layer and wool shirt and was quite comfortable. It's now my go-to parka in N. California with snow, and night-time temps down to 10-11 degrees F. Again very comfortable. I've removed the fur attachment to the hood. Other reviewers have mentioned the number of useful pockets. Regarding the zipper: I too struggled with it at first but after a few tries I now know how to work it easily. The trick is don't fight it, just relax into it, kind of like fly fishing, and you will get the hang of it. Also, it's like a women's zipper -backwards for what us men are used to so it doesn't come natural, hence the tendency to fight it - at least for me. Ask a female acquaintance or partner to try it and you will see that they have no trouble with it. Very encouraging. A little patience, gentlemen, and you will have a welled-loved and useful parka.

Size bigger than standard sizes

Currently returning it. I'm so so bummed. The quality is amazing, it feels warm, and it looks so good. Sigh, unfortunately, even the XS doesn't fit. How?! Small fits me everywhere, but I had a feeling it might not fit me at a small. I thought the small would be too big, but I would naver had thought that the Extra Small! would still not fit! Whats even crummier, that the shoulder fit was perfect, jackets never get that right. But the lengths were so long. Arms and bottom. Completely covered my hand, and bottom to my knees. Sigh. dang it.

Zipper Design Flaw

I am a big fan of Fjallraven, and bought this NUUK parka from REI . . . unfortunately, there is a big problem and I am highly disappointed !!! The Fjallraven NUUK parka was rated number 1 by Gear Lab, with a dozen or more positive aspects, the only fault being a “pesky” zipper. So, I basically thought the NUUK could only be the best . . . thus ignoring the “pesky” zipper comment. My NUUK arrived today and I unpacked it, noting the excellence and quality of the product. Then I tried it on . . . and could not get the zipper to zip, no matter how hard I tried. Then, for no apparent reason, it zipped up. So, I unzipped and tried it again . . . problem. I tried every possible technique, with success about one time out of 10. I rested several times; still the same result. Then I realized that when it takes 10 tries to get the zipper to work, there is a basic design flaw. Fjallraven needs to replace the current zipper with one that is better suited to a top-quality parka. A few years ago, I replaced the zipper on my old parka with a YKK, which is big, strong, and very easy to use.

Worst zipper I've encountered in 45 years.

This would be the perfect jacket for me except for 2 things - all the vecro, and the main zipper. It is simply astounding how poorly designed the zipper is on this thing. It's a 2-way zipper that allows you to unzip from the bottom and I realize these things have their uses, but on this jacket it's made in such a way that aligning the 2 zippers together in order to thread the other side into place and get it zipped works one of 2 ways - 10% of the time it goes right in... 90% of the time it will not align no matter what. If you're trying to do with gloves on, forget about it. I may go so far as to just have the zipper replaced it is so frustrating. Just when I think I have it figured out, the next time I put it on it takes another 5 minutes to get it zipped. Just terrible. That brings me to the velcro. I just hate velcro. If you wear knitted gloves or mittens they get caught on the hook side of the velcro constantly and there's maybe no worse feeling in the world than getting material caught on velcro that you dont want caught on velcro. It feels cheap and lazy and doesn't give you that much more adjustability than just put a couple snaps on the sleeves and a little adjuster on the hood. Lose the velcro. I'll probably go at it with a seam ripper and do it myself.

Almost great!

Have had about a year and only have 2 gripes but they’re significant. I hate the velcro especially on the sleeves. Put a couple snaps there. The velcro takes too long to adjust especially with fleece or wool gloves. The other issue is the zipper is awful. Just awful. It’s difficult to manage under ideal circumstances and nearly impossible with gloves, It is VERY comfortable and warm. I’m gonna stick with it but am gonna be making some modifications.

Very happy with mine!

I’m very pleased with the Nuuk Lite. I live in Seattle, and it’s been the perfect waterproof, not-too-bulky and not-too-heavy jacket. Love the durable fabric that resists my commute on public transport and the bumps and scrapes that go with it. It’s plenty warm, and if I go somewhere colder, it has plenty of room for layers underneath. It’s good looking and should be a classic mainstay in my winter wardrobe for years.

Awesome jacket. Napoleon pocket for hands awesome!

The jacket is great! Reviews regarding double zipper, not true. You just need to learn how to zip it :) (or do you still wear shoes with Velcro? :) Zipper is great if you need to unzip jacket from the bottom. Very warm, length is great, hood is adjustable so you can actually see something when walk. Highly recommended! Great product, runs a big larger than other brands.
