filter title is misleading

I bought a 1L bottle a year ago and went I store to purchase this filter. It does not fit, when looking at the Lifestraw webpage I realized my bottle needs a filter by a similar name but it also has “2 stage membrane” in the title. It also isn’t helpful that lifestraw webpage only shows new bottles and doesn’t give you an easy way to link which filter is for your bottle. Basically if your 1L bottle is a “Go” series it doesn’t mean this filter fits. It’s really bad branding on the part of Lifestraw and a huge miss on their part.

Great filter

Like the lifestraw filter. Using in my Go series water bottle. Use it everyday. Makes water taste much better!

Quality product, stupid business choice

I have the previous version of the lifestraw go bottle. I loved it. However they have redesigned the bottle and do not sell replacement filters that fit the older style. The really messed up part is that all the stores are still selling the older version of the bottle. That means you can go out today to your local sporting goods store and buy a bottle that has no option for replacement filters which essentially makes the bottle worthless because as soon as the filter jams, your bottle is no longer usable. Honestly Lifestraw… What are you doing?! Quality products with stupid business ideas. Thanks for selling me an unusable product.

Unfriendly Redesign

LifeStraw redesigned the bottle and straw in the past year and the new straws are not compatible with the old bottles. They want to be a carbon-neutral company but now every bottle they've sold needs to be replaced.

Not compatible with older "Go" bottles

Not compatible with older "Go" bottles for no reason other than money grab. Found it out the hard way, at 4:30 in the morning, heading to remote destination. Ended up treating and boiling water the whole trip.

Water Bottle Review

This review is more about the actual bottle and not the microfilters. I originally bought this water bottle at the thought of how I could fill my bottle from anywhere and the water would be cleaned through the filter. I think this is a great option for those that are out hiking or traveling but not for everyday use. The amount of work to suck the water out of the straw is excessive, and makes me feel as if I am drinking out of a baby bottle. The sound it makes is a bit embarrasing in public, as well. I keep it because I've already personalized it with stickers and it was expensive but I wouldn't buy another one or recommend it to anyone unless they were using it out in the wilderness.

Doesn’t work with all Go bottles

I have a LifeStraw Go bottle and this filter doesn’t work with it. Ridiculous they didn’t name is 2.0 or differentiate it because now I have to return this. Life Straw I will no longer be your customer because I have to replace this filter every year when it stops moving any water through it.

DONT BUY if you care about overconsumption

I have been a long time LifeStraw customer. I have the original LifeStraw bottle, I got it in 2021 or 2022 before I went on a trip. Since then, I bring it with me any time I travel or go hiking. I also have the LifeStraw pitcher for my home. Been a big fan of their mission! I had a stock of replacement filters for the bottle saved up but I used the last one recently. The filter will last a year if you use it regularly! I’m about to go on a trip to Costa Rica so I was going to buy a new filter… Come to find out they’ve discontinued the older version of their water bottle and no longer sell replacement filters for the bottle I own. I can’t find them anywhere. Now, I effectively own garbage that I’ll have to hang on to until it eventually ends up in a landfill after only about 4-5 years of usefulness. I’m angry and disappointed. As an environmentalist, I avoid overconsumption and water bottle “trends” break my heart. Now i own useless garbage and will have to buy a completely new bottle to use this product. I thought this company had dignity and actually stood for something. I’m sure most of their customer base feels the same. I really am tempted to buy another one because it’s a great product, but will I just be in the same position in a couple of years? Will my home pitcher filter be useless soon too? Do better LifeStraw! Here’s my old bottle for reference. RIP.

Haven’t had water this fresh in almost 20 years

I recently moved to a new town and the water here tastes off. I bought the stainless go series water bottle for when I’m out and about, and the home dispenser for home. I haven’t had water this good in 20 years, since I filtered it myself from pristine watersheds along the Appalachian Trail. I see other reviewers had issues with labeling. I can see how it would be frustrating to have the new product not fit your old perfectly good bottle. However I found the labeling to be very clear and I’m super happy with this filter. Recommend.
