My prior gravel tires were Schwalbe Marathon Almotion OneStar. I bought them due to low rolling resistance according to bicyclerollingresistance.com. The Washburns beat them on pavement for even lower rolling resistance. Yet also are noticeably more secure cornering in gravel. These tires have excellent vertical and lateral runout. So many tires wibble wobble due to poor quality control. But of the two Washburns I've mounted both were very precise and spun true. I mounted these tubeless to a Campagnolo Levante wheelset and they seated with just a floor pump (YMMV, this wheelset has no need for rim tape so generally seats tubeless tires easily). No weird bubbling from the sidewalls (blackwall). Tire measured 37mm on a 25mm internal width rim. Made in Taiwan. Was kind of gambling with the purchase as I wasn't familiar with the Teravail brand but I was pleasantly surprised. Kudos to Teravail.
Fast, enough grip around corners…If you ride mix surfaces these are great tires.
I like the tire, it is on the lighter side and was easy to mount. It seems a little narrow for 700x38 but I'm not complaining. It is great for my gravel rides, which are a mix of gravel roads and dirt paths. I would not recommend these for single track, the minimum PSI is too high for that (50). I did not install them tubeless, I also haven't had a flat in 300 miles.
These tires are fast and responsive. Great grip and speed. 60/40 pavement to gravel riding.
Great for a mix of pavement and gravel in Nebraska, where all the bike-accessible inter-city roads are gravel. I used to have a similar pattern tire from Bontrager, but its 32mm width was way too bumpy on those gravel roads made for cars. These are much better, but if my bicycle's frame allowed it, I would've gotten a 45-50mm wide pair of these. I worried cornering on pavement would be slippery with these tires, since the fringes have less contact with the ground, but that hasn't been an issue for me.
Bought two of these to go tubeless. One worked great. The other wouldn't hold air. I finally found small leaks all over the tread.
