Falls apart, not reliable

The compass capsule slipped out of the azimuth ring when I adjusted the declination. I had purchased the compass six months before and it had been stored in my gear closet during that time. The azimuth ring appears to have no mechanical method of securing the capsule. The capsule is only held in place with some non-hardening adhesive. It works fine unless pressure is applied from the top. Then the capsule can pop out and be lost on the trail. This problem has been reported in reviews of the similar Brunton TruArc 3 compass, which I found only now, while wondering if the failure I experienced was an isolated incident or due to my misuse. It appears instead that this is a design flaw. While I appreciate Brunton for creating a simple, inexpensive compass with a declination adjustment, I must rate this product as worse than worthless because it can fall apart while hiking and you won't know until the next time you reach for it.

This one is a little smaller than I would like. All the type is hard to read.
