For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

I received this product to test in exchange for an honest review. I ordered my usual hiking boot size, 6.5 (37.5). My street shoe size is usually 6-6.5 depending on the style. These boots have a generous toe box and a snug ankle, which I personally prefer. My ankles are skinny and my feet narrow; often boots don’t fit tight enough and cause my foot to slide when walking. This leads to blisters—not fun. That wasn’t an issue with these. I tested them at home for a few days then decided to risk breaking them in on a rocky, wet, muddy hike in WV. They held up like a dream! No blisters, no soreness, no wet feet despite days of rain leading up to our hike. It was about 40 degrees throughout and my feet remained comfortable, not hot, and not cold. The Vibram bottom gripped well on the muddy, leaf laden trail and performed equally as well on slick rocks during some light scrambling, even as my new-to-hiking puppy pulled on her waist leash. The only concern I would have for these boots would be the arch support for those that require it, as it’s certainly not the most supportive boot I’ve tried on. If you have narrow feet and small ankles, I’d recommend your usual boot size; all others I’d recommend trying on before purchase. These will be in my rotation going forward!
I have worn these boots out a few times in late winter/early spring and have been very impressed with how easy it has been to break them in. I would not consider them a winter hiking boot but they have performed well on both snowy trails and icy paved surfaces in temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Paired with a good pair of wool socks they have kept my feet warm and dry in snowy and slushy March Minnesota conditions. One of the photos shows a water line on the outside of the boots from the snow but no moisture got inside. I have had no trouble with blisters or foot pain from the boots and am excited to try them out on longer and more rugged hikes in the coming months. I don’t normally care much about the coloring of my footwear but I love the colors of these boots too.
These eco-friendly boots are great for the rainy wet climate of the Pacific Northwest and do not disappoint! I have hiked in the same hiking shoes for the last 15 years and did not realize how heavy they were until trying these boots. I am new to an ankle boot and am happy to have the extra support without the sacrifice of comfort. I have not gotten any blisters thus far. With a Gore-Tex lining, my feet stayed dry and I did not experience any leakage although I did not fully submerge them in water. I did find that in the cold weather, even with thick wool socks, my feet did get cold. I suspect this may be due to the thinner materials used to make the boot lighter. In regards to the fit of the shoe, I found the toe box to be a bit lofty with a thinner wool sock, but once laced tightly, it was no problem. There was plenty of room to put in my custom orthotics without sacrificing comfort or the boot feeling too tight. These shoes fit true to size and it is recommended to go up half a size, which is accurate in my opinion. The lacing system is great and I love the lacing harness at the top of the boot as it keeps the laces contained and makes the boot quick and easy to tighten. Thank you La Sportiva for putting a Vibram sole on this boot! It never disappoints! It is grippy and great for scrambling up rocks. It helps me remain surefooted on steep ascents and descents. An overall great boot! I look forward to many long hikes in these boots!
I really love these boots! I'm normally a 7 and got a 7.5 (38.5) per the recommendation. I've had La Sportiva's in the past and they gave me the worst blisters, but these are a dream. I broke them in on a 5 mile moderate hike and they squeaked the whole time but no issues. Then I took them to Olympic National Park and the biggest day hike was 19 miles and 5k elevation and I didn't have a single blister :) I love the wide base of the shoe - they stay tight, and the light weight was perfect! Highly highly recommend!
These boots are fantastic! They are comfortable out of the box with ample padding, orthopedic insoles that felt good to me, but if you have high arches you may need specific insoles for that. No surprise from la sportive, traction on these boots in wet and snowy conditions was fantastic, no slipping around. I felt the fit was roomy - I typically wear a 9.5, but size up to 10 in running shoes and boots. These had ample room for thick socks. If I bought them again I may buy the 9.5. I brought them to the mountains for casual walking around after skiing, and snow hiking. My feet stayed dry and warm - they may replace my snow boots! I really liked the suede look - with a few bright pops if turquoise. I definitely recommend these boots!!
Got them in April 2024. Boots needed very little broken in and were very comfortable with excellent traction but the loop/eye that anchored the lace toward the front of the right boot detached from the leather while I was tightening the laces in October and now water, snow and mud etc can get inside the small opening from the tear. Did not expect the material to not last longer than 6 months. I bought two pairs, with one pair half a size bigger than the other for use on hikes during rapid descent. I have never had that issue with any hiking boots and I have gone through a lot of them. For that reason, I would not recommend them.
Every time I put them on it felt like my feet were wrapped in clouds. I try not to wear a lot so I don’t ruin them. However I fell and twisted my ankle and toes and for 5 days whatever shoes I wore I was in severe pain until I put it on. I was shocked that I can walk in it without using a cane.
Love these boots! The treads give incredible grip, and the boots provide a support and sturdiness that surprised me for how light they are. There isn't a lot of arch support, but I added in my own inserts (I have very high arches). The turquoise and gray look great too. These run small. I am usually an 8.5 and ordered up to a size 9, but my toes are still touching the front of the boot. I probably need closer to a 9.5 or even a 10. I definitely recommend ordering up at least a full size.
I am returning the 38.5 and I purchased 39.5, which is the next size up, 39 is sold out. I hope to keep 39.5, color is not what I love but I may fall in love. Price is great. and feels comfortable. In LaSportiva, I have 37, that feels bigger than 38.5 for this model. it runs really small. I have a narrow feet so I did not order the 39.5 wide. I use a broken stock insert but with or without the insert, it is small. like other reviewers said. I was very worried if 38.5 would be too big but it turns out with a mid thickness hiking socks, is very small.
This is not the first hiking boot I’ve purchased but it’s definitely my favorite. Grip is great in rocky and Sandy terrains, the ankle support is wonderful and the laces stay laced without loosening to maintain that support. My feet are so much more comfortable and I’m able to do 10 miles easy without pain. This will be the only brand I buy from now on!
