Merino wool sock blend in a new design. These are at a price point comparable to other similar brands on market. What I noticed first is that they appeared small in the packaging. They are true to size. I wear an 11 womens and the Large womens is perfect. The materials are a Wool, Nylon, Lycra blend with stitching that I call a 'gentle hug.' I wore these for a week, hiking and running. I didn't get especially sweaty since it was winter and high 20's-low 30's, so not sure how the backcountry smell factor will compare to others. They come up to mid calves and stay put all day. After a week, I washed and they dried similarly to my other hiking socks and retained their shape. The color is vibrant. The toe and heel are maybe a medium weight as far as padding. The toe padding area goes down enough to fully cover the balls of the feet. The 'gentle hug' I mentioned was welcome as I believe it MAY reduce friction causing blisters on long hikes since it is so form fitting. Made in USA. Woman owned business. Recyclable packaging. I would definitely add more of these to my sock drawer. REI Product Advisor. Honest opinion for free product.
Pros: I highly value that the company if founded by a black woman. The socks are soft and a good, medium thickness. I love the color options (I purchased the lavender color, and it is gorgeous.) Cons: After washing, the fabric seemed to pile and shed a little bit, and I can't comment as to the durability of the socks over time. However, the main issue with these socks that became a deal-breaker is the narrow toe box. The toe box area is considerably tight and constricting, and I found that the socks would not stay in place because my feet were trying to spread. Even for narrow feet, these are way too restrictive.
Last summer I bought two pairs of these socks and in the drawer they went. Within a week I found myself always choosing one of these 2 pairs every time I went into the sock drawer to grab a pair. So comfortable and I wore the heck out of them. They are still going strong as we move into my second season with these babies.
I am SO stoked with my Tough Cutie socks! They are the perfect fit; snug in all the right spots and cushioned just right. Softness is really important to me and these are scrumptious. They made my rain boots during the Cali storms warm and cozy. They were perfect for hikes, and après hikes chilling around the camp. They have been washed at least 6 times and come out of the dryer looking and feeling great. The only issue I’ve had is with pilling around the toe. I’d definitely purchase these socks again.
love the design, colors, and fabric. they’re just a tiny bit tight for me, which is not a big deal. i tend to like tighter fitting socks. the toe seam is indistinguishable which is very important to me! they’re prob my 2nd favorite hiking sock at the moment, right after bombas. for comparison- i tried and returned a pair darn tough socks because i thought they were huge and fit weirdly in the toe area. these are definitely much snugger. so if you like darn tough socks/have wider feet/feet that tend to swell, these may not be for you!
I am an REI Advisor and was able to give Tough Cutie Eve Light Weight Hiker Crew Socks a try. The socks are wool and cushioned nicely on the balls and heels of the feet. The arch is nicely supported, almost feels like gentle compression. My feet were very comfortable wearing these sock for my winter hikes. And since they are wool, I know that I will be able to wear them comfortably in the summer as well.
Tough Cutie’s Eve socks are a solid choice for a form-fitting lightweight hiking sock. They are not at all bulky, and I definitely appreciated that they did not slouch or bunch in my low-cut hiking shoe even as the miles wore on. While they have less padding than I typically want in a hiking sock, they worked superbly in my trail running shoes. I would also wear them as an everyday super-comfortable sock. My feet were warm on cool days and the socks efficiently moved moisture so the socks were a bit damp on the outside but my feet remained dry. I would not consider these a cold-weather sock, though, in part because they don’t come farther up the calf and they are fairly lightweight. At first, they looked like they may be small compared to my other socks, but the stretch is such that they fit well and are not tight or restrictive, even above the ankle. The toe is well-constructed and looks as though it will last longer than many of my other socks. I am a solid M sock (women’s shoe size 8-8.5) with a low-volume instep and average width. The Medium was spot-on for me, but if I were a women’s size 9 or above, I’d probably give the Large size a try. They wash really well. After numerous washings according to both the instructions and more harshly (i.e., not inside out and dried on high), they still look new. They do tighten up in the wash but as noted above, the ample stretch remains, making them snug and comfortable without being tight. Notably there is minimal pilling. They enter a crowded premium sock market, but that cost is offset when you consider that they are American-made by a mission-driven company. The socks also wash and wear like they will last a long time. We should strive to put our dollars behind companies we believe in that make high-quality, durable products such as these socks.
The Tough Cutie "Eve" lightweight sock is a wonder product. When compared against other competing brands, it takes the cake! Warmth: my feet were significantly warmer on a consistent basis (a huge plus for someone with cold feet). Comfort: the heel cushioning is just enough padding too. Durability: wore these socks nearly 4 days straight with no lasting odor whatsoever and the shape remained intact. Overall impression: will be sticking with Tough Cutie for socks from here on out! (W 7-9 size)
I wore these walking the dogs in 20 degree weather while wearing cheap, basic rain boots. They kept my feet plenty warm. I also have constant cold feet in the winter so they were great to lounge around inside. They do have a slight compressive feel to them but they're not tight like normal compression socks. I think they feel really nice while not feeling restrictive.
Love these socks! Just the right amount of tight to support. Perfect amount of padding. Great color. Women owned business!
