A fantastic chain tool!

This chain tool made it very easy to push the pin out of the chain and it even catches the pin so you’re not hunting for it on the garage or shop floor. I’m impressed by the material and build quality! It’s made of high quality material. The dial on the end lets you adjust it to different chain widths, so it works with my road and mountain bike. There is even an extra pin pusher piece in the bottom of the handle. In the process of replacing my chain, my hands got grease all over the tool but it was very easy to clean. Overall, I highly recommend this product. It’s well made and reasonably priced.

Feedback sports chain tool 3.0

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. It is ergonomic, well designed and the product was very easy to use. I was able to easily remove chain pins easily from an old rusty chain from my sons old bike (Shimano chain). It also appears to fit my road bike chain which is Campagnolo. Nice product and well built it should last a long while.

Stubby Chain Tool Just Works!

I’ve used my share of chain tools as a bicyclist. Now with E-Bikes and family bikes in the stable I am finding chain tools to be more of a necessity than a luxury. For full disclosure, I was given this chain tool as a tester so that I could review it. Here’s how it stacked up among the following categories that I find important: Portability, Weight, Materials, Ease of Use/Functionality. Portability and Weight: If you are a minimalist biker looking for a super lightweight, portable chain tool then there are smaller and lighter ones on the market. This is NOT the one for you. Materials: the materials are confidence inspiring and I have zero doubts this will last for many years to come. The handle that turns for disconnecting the chain pin is made of steel along with the other parts of the chain tool with one exception. The other grab handle is made of rubber and is definitely not going to wear down any time soon. Ease of Use/Functionality: THIS TOOL SHINES FOR WHAT IT IS DESIGNED TO DO - replace the links on chains. Bottom line, the tool is easy to manipulate given its rubber grab handle making it easy to properly and quickly line up the plate along the chain. There’s an adjustable small screw that makes it even easier to manipulate this tool. This is my new go-to chain tool for garage use. There is a storage compartment that can easily store chain links making it easy to find them or to have them on hand. The only reason why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the storage compartment has a plastic plug that will become easy to fall out of the rubber handle, especially if you put it to use a few times. If it were some sort of screw on, it would have been a hand down 5 star review. I would recommend this for anyone that works on their own bikes.

Sturdy and versatile chain tool gets the job done

This chain tool gets the job done and has a large handle for added strength in getting locked chain links. I've had many chain tools over the years and have not seen one like this. The materials seem sturdy and probably meant to last a lifetime. The handle and grip are fairly large so you are not likely to misplace it, which I'll admit to losing previous chain tools due to their compact nature. I will say that the large nature of this tool was the only drawback in that you really have to think about where to place it to remove the links since derailer and other bike components could potentially get in the way. I like the extra replacement pin hidden in the handle for that odd situation that make come up when you drop break the pin. I would recommend this in any bike riders maintenance and service bag especially at this price.

Works pretty well

This works just fine. The other person who reviewed it clearly used the tool incorrectly. You have to twist the knob opposite the part that pushes on the pin so the chain is supported. The teeth are not designed to support the chain on their own. The instructions are very, very clear about this. It's not amazing for putting pins back in but how often do you have to do that?

Broke on first use

Opened this up, set the chain on the teeth, and turned the crank. Teeth immediately broke off and the fixed pin which pushes the chain pin out bent to an angle making the tool unusable.

Good and easy to use.

I received this product the REI Trailblazer program. Here is my honest review; First impression for this product is that it feels good and sturdy in the hand. The handle provide plenty of grip and the turn handle is oversized for easy grip even when wearing gloves. It was very easy to break the chain and easy to realign for installation of new links. It’s also fairly lightweight and made of steel and aluminum for durability. Overall this product is an essential on long rides just in case something goes wrong on the trail and you need a quick fix.

Worth the upgrade!

I've been wrenching on my own bikes for over 50 years, and this tool was a delight. The adjustable anvil does two things: It makes it easy to adapt to differing chain thicknesses, and it really helps with the final tweaking on reassembly. In addition, it's amazing ergonomically. The large handle and T bolt make for very precise work. I bought it because I had a chain that was too thick for my old tool. I'm super happy that I had to solve that problem, because why would I otherwise replace I tool I've used for decades?
