I purchased a pair of Oboz Ousel Low Waterproof Hiking Shoes in May 2024. I normally wear a size 8.5 medium shoe and purchased a size 9 Oboz hiking shoe, and with medium thick socks, my feet had enough wiggle room. For the first time, I wore them about once a week, and of course they still felt stiff. As I increased the frequency of wearing them, my feet adjusted to them, and I enjoyed wearing the hiking shoes just as much as I enjoyed wearing my stability running sneakers. And I love the color-- Cinder Stone. I highly recommend these hiking shoes for people who need extra support when walking.
I was seduced by the style and color (port). Both are beautiful. However, these shoes are snug. I bought my regular shoe size, 10.5, and it is a close fit. I have narrow heels so if you have wider heels, these shoes may not be for you. I think most people would prefer to go up a half size. Two issues: 1) The tongue goes up too high and digs into the soft part of my front ankle. Solution: I tie the laces under the tongue raising it so it doesn't touch my ankles. Since the fit is so snug, the shoe remains in place without any wobbling. 2) The inner soles are a little hard. The arch and toe area supports are excellent for my low arches, but there is no cushioning on the inner soles at all. This may be a problem after wearing a few hours. These are nice shoes, but I wouldn't buy a second pair. I prefer my old Sawtooths and Sapphires.
I like the look of these shoes, it's nice to have a shoe that can blend from trail to town without screaming that you're in a hiking shoe. Sadly, these shoes were a poor fit for me. The W size was a true wide, yay! But, I have a high volume foot and these shoes aren't quite 'tall' enough for me. In addition, the heel area was too loose, it was gaping slightly.
Two issues, the quality of the shoe and the 'used' shoes that was shipped. I have a narrow size 12 foot. These shoes fit my heel great with wiggle room in the toe. I would be pleased except the shoes delivered were worn - slightly but still showed signs of wear on sole (dirt in treads and slight fold at toe line). I almost thought I had purchased used gear. Very disappointed. Only 4 stars for used shoe.
Good shoe but has tight shoe box across ball of foot. Wanted to keep them but too much risk of blisters.
I tried 6 pair of hiking shoes/boots and this one was the winner, along with the Hoka goat GTX. This shoe fit well, nice size toe box, easy on/off, width was perfect. Light weight with out being bulky so solid hiking book.
These shoes fit like a glove the first time I wore them. I purposely took a fast paced 6 mile hike the first time I wore them, knowing that would be a good test since I hike the trails 5+ times per week. No blisters and the arch support is amazing. I found my new favorite brand of hiking shoes! I can tell these are going to be sturdy and long lasting. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!
I am giving these shoes a 5 because they look good, well made, and feel super supportive. Unfortunately, they were snug in the toes for me, and since I wear a size 12, there is no sizing up. I had to return them.
These are the worst hiking shoes I've ever had. There is no support for even hiking, let alone backpacking with a heavy pack on your back. My arches and ball of my foot were in so much pain on just a regular hike, I felt agonizing pain with every rock I stepped on. What a waste of money! I will go back to Vasque or Merrell that have Vibram soles to support and protect my feet.
This is the perfect hiking shoe for my trip to the Galapagos Islands
