Band at the bottom is unflattering
This shirt has great color, feels nice and the fit was true to size, but it has a band around the bottom that causes it to have a very unflattering fit. On the sides, just above the band there is excess material that gaps out on each side. At first I thought it was because there is a big tag on the inside left seam, but then I noticed it sticks out on both sides equally, like there is something sticking out from your hips or just above. I'll be sending it back. Was desperately looking for a shirt as great as the Sol Searcher, that had no hood and had snaps down the sides. My mom and myself were each looking to buy another of that type.
very happy with this lovely garment!
this pullover is very comfortable and soft, and at a weight of 2.4 oz for the XS, is a great addition to my packable lightweight layers for hiking. i read as many reviews as i could, to try and determine the correct size to order. typically, i buy size SM most of the time for a garment like this, but i went with the XS, and i’m glad i did, because the fabric is light, drapes nicely, but i’d be swimming in this if i’d ordered my usual size. i’m 5’6”, 113 lbs, light-framed body. even the XS is a bit generous in the fit, but at most i’d wear it over a tank or a slim-fitting tee. looking forward to the SPF 50 protection.
A good boating shirt
Great look, color, and fabric but a bit shorter than expected.
Mostly good
I would give this five stars, but for the expense of the shirt, the tag and the back of the neck should not be scratchy and it is and it’s not easily removed without tearing the shirt. I have had other Prana products that have the same problem. I think they need to do better.
Color just pops!
Super comfortable and subtle style. Color is warm and cheerful.
Like a sweat tent
The description specifically says you should think about it for a hike. Well, I got this to wear on a backpacking trip, and I can't believe it's advertised as being meant for exercise. If you like hot yoga, this might be the top for you. I wore it through a cool, dark forest, and I felt like I was being roasted to death. Compared to the Mountain Hardware one I brought on the trip, this was very disappointing. Anytime I was remotely sweaty, I struggled to get it on or off. It's a fashion top that happens to protect you from the sun.
Solid “average”
This shirt is okay. Nothing really wrong with it but nothing to get excited about either. I do love the thumb holes and the ample (but not bulky) hood. I do not love that just above the band at the bottom there is a bit of excess material that looks like two fins that stick out. It’s hard to explain but it looks weird. I do love the mustard color. Very similar in person t the picture. Agree w other reviewers about the “white” one…it’s definitely way more grey and kind’ve dingy looking.
Almost perfect
Love this lightweight, soft layer. Only giving it 4 stars because it would be so much more functional as a sun shirt /high altitude sun protection layer if Prana got rid of the snaps, had the collar extend up the neck like the men's version does, and included drawstrings so the hood could be cinched in times of extreme sun exposure. I would love it if Prana could make highly functional clothes that are designed to flatter a female body type. This comes close, hoping they iterate it.
The fabric is so comfortable and light.
I have the Sol Searcher L/S shirt from an earlier purchase so decided to try the Hoodie version. I purchased the light green color in Medium. I am 5’9” and the length is plenty long for me. As others have mentioned, there are strange puckers on both sides right above the waistband. I was prepared to send back after washing if they didn’t “settle down”. Luckily, it became a non-issue. I like the Hoodie version better then L/S pullover- mostly because it is open at the neckline.
My new favorite shirt!
I want all of my shirts to be the Sol Searcher line, have bought 3 of them now. The material is so soft and comfy, it's my favorite for lounging around the house and is a perfect base layer for fall. Relaxed fit but not frumpy. The one improvement that could be made (applies to all of Prana's shirts) is getting rid of the scratchy tags that are sewn into the shirt and go tagless. After doing minor surgery to remove the tag, it's perfect.
