I took this Gregory Women's Maya 20 Pack on a day hike to Hoosier National Forest in Brown County Indiana. I first made the mistake of not realizing this product mentioned *Plus Size*. I'm 5'2 and 132lbs. Upon adjusting the hip belt I noticed it was a little oversized, but as I began walking it was actually comfortable! It had plenty of room for adjustment, if you have a larger frame and might be taller. I was most excited about the hip pockets on the waist belt since it provided enough room for a large phone and other items I needed on hand during my hike. I kept a little medication cap for emergencies. It was large enough to carry my Ursack inside the large compartment and a convenient location for my wallet and keys. The outside could hold my hiking poles. I loved that it could hold a hydration pack, but it unfortunately it only holds a Gregory brand, so mine didn't fit and I tied it with a rope I had on hand (a carabiner would work also). For day hiking, I prefer smaller packs. I can personally pack a lot of gear in this. Overall, it was comfortable even on a humid day.
This bag is very sturdy, well made, and comfortable. It feels heavy than I thought it should for a bag this size, but I see why, it has a lot of high density foam that gives it more structure—it can almost stand up on its own. It has a pretty serious hip belt that may be slightly over designed for a bag of this size (like one for a full size internal frame), but worth it for the comfort. However that means you can’t tuck the belt in. I like the it had double water bottle holders, a front stuff pouch, and room for a hydration pack—all the features I’d need. Overall really happy with this bag!
I love this pack! I was looking for one of a moderate siE with a hip belt (pockets big enough for my phone), some organization but not an overwhelming number of pockets, and a comfortable fit. I love how the adjustable sizing works, and the hip belt keeps all the weight off my shoulders- especially with the load lifters. Couldn’t be happier with this pack!
This pack is the perfect pack for a day hike and is thoughtfully constructed. The hip belt is extra supportive and the pockets on the hip belt easily fit an iphone and a snack. I like how the hydration pack pocket is separate from the rest of the backpack compartments, which makes it easy to slide in and out. There is also small pocket on the inside which is nice for holding little things like keys. The back panel is also nicely vented. Love the cranberry red color!
I'm so glad that companies are finally making bags for plus size. Before gaining weight, I used a Gregory Sula 16. The Sula no longer fits. I wear size 20 bottoms and a 1x or 2x in tops. The hip belt fits amazing and I can get the appropriate torso length. My main issue are the straps. For me personally, they are too wide. If they were a half inch narrower or more flexible, they would work. Also, the load lifters have to be pulled in all the way. The upper part of the pack is just slightly too large for me. The qualty of the pack is amazing. Lots of space and pockets. I'll be returning this pack and trying something else.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gregory has made a great day hike size plus size backpack. It has great features, it is comfortable, lots of pockets, and is functional. There are not a lot of brands out there making backpacking accessible and comfortable for plus size folks and Gregory is doing it right. I have a few of their other plus backpacks and would not recommend this pack if I didn’t like it. It carriers the exact amount you’d need for a day hike plus a little bit extra. The only thing I wish is that it came in at least one more colour option. Imagine a burnt yellow or forest green!
Beautiful and functional daypack! First of all, I am a neutrals kinda gal but the first thing I loved about this pack is the beautiful, eye catching red. Now onto the functionality. The shoulder straps and back panel make this pack super comfortable. I opted for the 20 liter bag and while its nice and compact there is a lot of room. One thing i have not tested is the water reservoir.
I'm very happy with my backpack. I'm a female, size 18-20 so it can be tough to find straps that are long enough for my waist. This is perfect and there is plenty of additional strap length for outerwear. The quality is very good. I haven't used the pack yet, but I'm very much looking forward to ti.
Love this pack so much. Fat people like color too! I was so happy to see this collab happen and the pack is so nice and really fits great. Highly reccomend!
Excellent pack. Fits perfectly. More than enough waist length for a plus size 65 year old woman. Love the color and love the functionality.
