Well designed lightweight comfortable fleece hoody

The Kyanite is a comfortable and lightweight fleece hoody that performed well. There is a pattern designed into the cut of the arm that helps prevents it from the uncomfortably overlap of material that I have encountered on other fleeces. Size wise I would say that it fits similar to other Arc'teryx products as I wear a Medium and the Large is a little too big for me at 6ft and 175lbs.

I bought two kyanite lt each in white and forage, and they are both in Medium size. HOWEVER, forage one is way more baggy than the white one, especially in chest and length. It’s really confusing and annoying. Arc’teryx should pay more attention to the quality control!

Lightweight yet amazingly warm

This lightweight fleece hoddie delivers in nearly every facet. Disclaimer, I hate wearing jackets and layers and would rather be a little bit cold than put on another layer and I am not one to wear a jack/sweatshirt inside. That being said this hoddie was SUPER comfortable from the first time I put it on. It is super lightweight, only weighing 10 oz total but it cozy and warm. It is surprising how warm it is for how thin it is. The inside of it is fleece like no other (see picture) to make it super soft on the skin. The cut of the jacket and the size of the jacket fits me perfectly. I have a size medium and I am 6’1” 160lbs, 33 inch waist and wear a 34/35 length sleeve. It fits me well enough I wound not put more than a long sleeve shirt underneath. The pockets are large and they also have a inside pocket. I trialed it multiple times in 50-65⁰ weather and it was perfect for me especially while hiking or being active. On the days it was windy it did a great job at blocking the wind and keeping me warm. When coming inside from activities I have found myself not taking it off immediately but wearing it around for a while which for me is a true testament of how lightweight and comfortable it is to wear. It didn’t cause me to overheat in warmer conditions. The whole product is very well sewed and built. It is not waterproof nor designed to be, but is slim enough to serve as a base layer under my waterproof jacket. In cold wet conditions I would wear this and then my waterproof jacket over the top for a perfect combination rather than a shell jacket or the like. I did end up spilling some grease-based liquid on it, but it cleaned really well with spot cleaner and a run through the wash. Glad to see that I can keep it clean. Cons: The hood works well but feels a little bit big in comparison to the rest of the jacket. My head size is 7 3/8, so fairly average, but for a small head size this would engulf you, it also hangs right at the edge of the hood of my waterproof jacket so in the rain I would be worried about it getting wet. There is a little bulge in the jack in the center near the zipper where the inside pocket is sewn in, this is due to thinness of the jacket but not really a big deal. Overall, a great product and I will have to keep my wife from stealing if from me due to how amazing it is.

Excellent everyday lightweight jacket.

Great transitional weather jacket. I was able to use the jacket, while birdwatching, as an inner layer on a cold rainy day and as an outer jacket on a cool day. Good for spring and fall. Excellent seams and stitching. The XL sizing was right on for my 5’ 11’ 205 lbs frame. The material was soft and I was able to clean two dirt sports with relative ease. The hoodie was soft enough to be covered by the outer jacket when I used it as an inner layer. Also good to use indoors when the ac is too low on hot days. Excellent everyday lightweight jacket.

A hoodie you can take to and over the mountains

Is the NEW Arc'teryx Kyanite hoodie groundbreaking? Naw. Is it even state-of-the-art? Not exactly, but neither is my skin, but I really appreciate it and take it everywhere with me. I don't really make it to the great outdoors as much as I want to, but for my profession, I travel above and beyond all the mountains I would ever want to climb in my off time. Considering my limited capacity to carry necessities, the Arc'teryx Kyanite is one of my most treasured items to travel with. Let me explain more. My life is full of surprises, and it's just as important to be light and flexible as your clothing can be. Layering is an art; with tops like this, I can accomplish anything I want to do, inside and out. Let's start with the good stuff, shall we? The Fleece hoodie is made from an ultra-light, tech fleece that keeps you warm but not too hot, which is good. This top is designed to form fit but not be tight. It wears like a second skin. It moves with you and never feels constricting, which is excellent when doing active activities such as running, skiing, or mountain climbing. The hoodie has been updated from its previous version. The collar of the hoodie has been raised to keep your neck warm but not your entire face. This feature raises the neck of the hoodie without making it so that you don't have to wear the hoodie while increasing your personal neck comfort. This takes us to the next great feature I love, the zipper. Many other active tops tend to have larger or thicker zippers. This hoodie has a thinner zipper that is very robust but not overdone. When you wear a top like this, you want it to fit more like skin, be practical, flexible, and out of the way. The last thing you want is a thick zipper that you feel on your body, making that jingling noise while you are in the thick of your activity; yuck! The Arc'teryx Kyanite hoodie is a versatile layering piece, suitable for all seasons and most temperatures. Its lightweight fleece is perfect for cooler morning walks or quick runs to the store when wearing a coat is excessive. If the weather doesn't warm up, it fits perfectly under a thick or thin vest. And if things heat up, it breathes and vents just enough to keep you comfortable in almost any temperature. Now, let's talk about some minor areas for improvement. As great as this top is, I would love for it to fit into a packable pocket. Since I travel for a living, packing small is next to godliness. The ultra-thin fleece makes managing this hoodie in a suitcase less difficult; however, many jackets and vests have packable pockets. Packable pockets make placing these items in suitcases or backpacks predictable and straightforward. Lastly, it doesn't have interior pockets; I'm unsure why. When you want to use this hoodie for active activities, you need an inside pocket to help protect your valuables. One will always need to guard against losing essential items like keys, a few dollars, and perhaps some precious jewelry you don't want to damage while trying your hand at mountain climbing or cutting down trees in the forest (if you're into that kind of stuff). In the end, we could talk all day about the technical attributes of these types of clothing, but if you're reading this, you're like I am and would rather be outside enjoying this top instead of reading about it. Go get the new Arc'teryx Men's Kyanite Fleece Hoodie. When you get it, you can be proud of owning a simple piece of clothing that will make your indoor and outdoor adventures more comfortable and enjoyable than you could have imagined. Have Fun!

Excellent Performance Garment

Excellent, light-weight hoodie for exertion and high output activities, perfect for layering or as a standalone top. Stylish enough to wear out socially or to a casual work environment, with sleek design and fetching colors that bely the performance fabric and technical structure of the garment. And the performance really is flawless - superior breathability, wicking, mobility, and comfort. For what this hoodie was designed, it truly excels. The Stonewash Blue color is particularly eye catching - definitely a lot louder than the typically muted colors I wear - but I've been using as a cool-weather top on hikes near game lands, and bike commutes in the city... even when it's not hunting season, or no cars on the road, it still feels a *LOT* safer to do these things in an unmissable color. Also my wife tells me I wear hoodies too often, but she adores the color, so I count that as a massive win. The material is soft and comfortable. Not as cozy, and with more of a "gym clothes" look than some other synthetic or cotton blend athletic hoodies that I own, but for me, that's more than offset by the very light weight and compact size. I have an 18L everyday bag that I basically live with, and the thing is small and fully loaded, yet this hoodie still has no trouble tucking inside. This godly stash ability is also going to be a level up for my summer backpacking loads. I find a top layer is essential on mountain nights, but every inch and ounce saved in my bag means other comfort. One thing I can't say is durability. I've worn this hoodie at least a dozen times, mostly biking and walking around the city, but with two nice long mountain hikes mixed in. I haven't caught any abrasions or snags yet, so can't speak to how well it holds up in bad situations, so I'll update this review in the fall after a couple seasons of hard use. I'm also going to be super careful around campfires with this, but I think that's like one of the first rules of being a boy scout anyway. I didn't make it that far. DISCLAIMER I received this product as part of a promotion.

Ultra soft fleece that's perfect for layering

I've used this hoody for the past two months for a range of activities from multi-day mountain trips in BC to camping with my family in California. Whilst scrambling in the mountains at 2,500m it was perfect when layered with a base layer then as the evenings got colder I wore a down jacket over the top. It was also great when sat around the camp fire on the beach and the Jungle colour means I can't be missed! The Kyanite Hoody is really low profile so there was no bunching of the material and the zippers lay totally flat so there are no pressure points. It also packs down really small into the hood for easy storage in a day sack. The hood fits under a mountaineering helmet if you need to shut out the cold from your head.

Kyanite Lightweight

The Arc'teryx Men's Kyanite Lightweight Fleece Hoodie is an excellent addition to any outdoor enthusiast's wardrobe. Designed for casual, everyday activities, this fleece jacket is perfect for mild weather conditions, such as brisk fall or spring days. Here's my review of this versatile and comfortable piece of gear. The fleece itself is incredibly soft against the skin, making it a joy to wear. I've been impressed with its durability, too, as the fabric has withstood repeated washing and wear without showing any signs of pilling or degradation.

Great lightweight hoodie

I received the slate color and I really like it, especially since I am partial to blues. I typically fall in between a medium and a large depending on the cut and I selected a medium in this case. The fit was form fitting but not snug and there was plenty of give in the fabric. The sleeves were a bit longer than I expected and did not have thumb holes. Overall I found the sizing to be true. I found that the fit was well suited to layering; when I wore a down jacket on top of it I didn't feel constricted or too bulky. Colorado weather is highly variable with sudden changes in wind and temperature. I was pleasantly surprised how well this hoodie broke the wind. I really like this hoodie and I will be wearing any time the weather is a bit iffy.

Heat hoody but fabric smells wierd

Love all my Arc stuff - I also have a kyanite AR and the tech wool hoody. This fits and looks good BUT it has a really wierd smell that just doesn’t wash out. Kinda plasticky - a bit damp maybe - not nice. None of my other Arcteryx (or other) clothes smell like this. Have washed it several times and always comes out still smelling eeurgh. Very strange.
