Carpal Tunnel symptoms are gone
I just bought a used bottom end mountain bike. My main route has smooth trails with inclines ranging from 3%-20%, no jumps or drops. Rides are about 1.5 hours. I was experiencing Carpal Tunnel symptoms: numb fingers, wrist and forearm pain, tingling in the hands. I just installed the Ergon GA3 grips today and went for a ride. My Carpal Tunnel symptoms did not emerge with these grips. It is night and day compared to my bike's stock grips. These grips are great. It looks like you are expected to experiment for awhile to adjust and find the perfect angle orientation for your grips. But even on my first try, these grips are amazing.
Best grips for hand issues!
I had carpel tunnel surgery last year, using normal grips (ergon ga2 and pnw loams) I would have pain and fatigue even a couple days after riding (mtb riding trails). I needed something else so I decided to try these after reading so many positive reviews. These things are a game changer all the issues I was having are gone no pain, no fatigue, no days off after a long ride. It will take a couple rides to get used to the shape but worth it! Highly recommend to anyone with wrist issues.
Relieved My Hand Numbness
I have been a big fan of Ergon's grips and saddles for a while. I had been riding with the GE1 grips on my hardtail and swapped them over to my full suspension bike to replace the stock grips there after I started going on longer and more difficult trail rides. They were great, but with years of keyboarding and video game mileage on my hands I was starting to get some numbness on long downhills. So I decided to try the GA3s to see if they helped. (Extra bonus, they complemented the paint on the full sus better than the others, too). Much better. Hand pain was much alleviated and numbness is much less frequent. I grip the bars a little differently - outboard fingers don't quite wrap as completely on the wings - but my grip is still strong enough to handle a rock garden and the extra support for the heel of my hand actually leaves me with a bit less arm pump. I'm very happy with the switch, and happy to have the GE1s back on my hardtail where they work just fine for shorter fun rides.
