🇵🇱 Absolutnie niepraktyczny. 🇬🇧 Absolutely impractical. In the photos it looks really cool, and that’s what guided me when buying this daily backpack. The material is great, waterproof, which makes it safe to carry a laptop (for which there is a dedicated compartment). Another advantage is the Arc'teryx logo on the flap – unfortunately only a visual one. That’s about it for the positives :) The flap closure system – not with a clip but with an adjustable strap. Big minus. The drawstring compression uses a not-very-intuitive system: anti-design :( Thin shoulder straps with an uncomfortable chest strap adjustment system – another big minus. At such a high price – I expected something at least decent, but this backpack is simply impractical.
This backpack is very sturdy and feels like it will last many years without issue. I have been using it for my work commute, and it easily holds a 15” laptop, charger, over-ear headphones, and 3+ textbook size books. It has a strap for across the chest and the fabric against your back is helps to keep you cool. I have seen some comments about discoloration of the material when it creases, which is true, but nothing dramatic to my eye. The flap over the main compartment is a bit cumbersome for quick access while on the go - it is more of a hook to a bungee than a more typical zippered pocket, so if you try to open it while still on your arm, you will have a flap in your face. Overall I would say it is sleek and sturdy, and I would recommend it.
I was looking for a backpack with simple design and functionable! Granville 25L exceeded my expectations and helps me to organize wherever I go!
Been using the Granville for a couple months now and I really love it! It's extremely durable - totally waterproof with some really sturdy construction. I don't mind thrashing the backpack around because it's built like a tank. Design-wise, I initially thought it was a bit ugly, but after using it for a while it fits in really well at the climbing gym and the office. Another review expressed disappointment about some loops that could be used for a hip belt. I personally like them a lot because they're positioned perfectly for attaching climbing shoes with a carabiner. Storage capacity is also great. I'm used to backpacks with a lot of pockets and initially feared the lack of such would make this pack annoying to use. Fortunately, there's enough pockets for sorting small things alongside a cavernous main compartment I use for climbing gear, a laptop, clothes, bottle, etc. The closure system can be inconvenient sometimes, but I really like how everything gets neatly contained. The pack retains its shape and form no matter what you store inside, which helps it aesthetically. Only cons would be that it's expensive, and the shoulder straps are thin and unsupportive. Avoid overpacking - it doesn't handle heavy loads well. Overall, great purchase!
This pack is really something I've been waiting to have for a long time. I find the interior to be the perfect size to stash all the necessities for a solid days journey with a few additional interior compartments. The compartment directly against the back I've found doubles as a laptop sleeve and a bladder holder depending what kind of day is planned. A couple smaller sewn in pockets into the interior in the main compartment are nice to stash things, but leaves majority of the main compartment open for a top down load in. There is one thinner but long zippable compartment on the backside for quick stash but beyond that, no side mesh pockets or anything for a water bottle(s) on the sides, which is one of the only drawbacks to this pack. It's water resistant though so it's easy to understand why there's not more compartments sewn into the water resistant material on the outside otherwise it could compromise the water resistantness. The mesh against the outer back area is so comfortable, breathable and top quality & also lines the shoulder straps. On the straps in the front is a pretty standard chest cinch to help distribute pack weight, but what is cool that I've never seen is instead of sliding up and down for an adjustment depending on chest size, they full on disconnect to be able to move up or down in specifically stitched zones. The benefit in this is unwanted movement up and down. Pretty neat new take on that. Overall, a "waterproof" day bag ready for anything that might come at you, that is comfortable and spacious - it's solid.
The new Grenville is a very nice minimal bag that's thankfully waterproof. The main pocket is rather large with a few small pockets on the back of the bag. The bag flap clasp is fairly good and it clicks onto the small rope loop well. The drawstring to close the top of the bag pulls tight well but it's slow to release unlike other arcteryx bags. The drawstring also does not make a perfect seal so the liner does not form a dry bag inside. The padding is comfortable and I did not feel any pain in my back or shoulder with the bag fully loaded with climbing gear after a full day. The bag does show scuffs fairly easily as well due to the textured finish.
This review is of the Arc'teryx Granville 25 Pack which I received in compensation for a fair and honest review of the product. First thing to know is that this is not a backpack that is intended for actual backpacking. It is a commuter type of bag. Also, as shown in my photos this pack is not optimal for a small person. At 5'0" and 100 lbs the pack is much too large for me. The positives: it has a light colored interior that makes finding things easy, it also has a segmented interior with a padded laptop section and an additional segmented compartment as well as the main body of the bag which is a stuff sack style with drawcord closure. There is also a small linear zippered storage pocket on the front which is hidden by the flap closure. The negatives: the exterior flap closure has only a small plastic hook which attaches to a loop on the inside of the flap. This is not a secure closure system and seems that it could easily open accidentally. Also, this pack does not have waist strap.
So I have the last season version of this bag which came in the Yukon (gold) colourway. I wanted a new bag that I could take to the office with my laptop and also as a carry-on for travel. I do love this bag and these are the reasons: The colour is fab Super durable and water resistant I LOVE the space! Although I struggled at first figuring out the pocket configuration to my needs, this thing can fit a lot into it! It's like a Mary Poppins bag - you can just keep adding. My most recent flight I had 2 laptops and cables as well as a Wacom tablet, 2 medium sized books, 1.5l water bottle, change of clothes, 2 pairs of glasses and a wash bag.
Bag material ripped within a few weeks of ownership, drastically reducing water protection for a bag I bought to commute with in PacNW where rainy weather is super common. Back was fine otherwise, keyhook in external pocket is a bit short.
I bought it 2 months ago but I used for the first time this last weekend. I did not like it at all. Luck of pocket Closure system is a pain The grey top is showing on one side The straps are uncomfortable and small for the size of the backpack and sometimes are unbalanced. I started thr return of this product after the first use. Color, material and quality are great.
