Lightweight wallet but questionable durability

After spending some time with the Thread Wallet Elastic Wallet, I have come to the conclusion that the product is...ok. Below I will list some pros and cons for myself. Keep in mind you may have different needs / expectations. I should also mention my daily wallet is of similar design, only it’s metal. It’s actually the original designer of this wallet type, won’t mention the brand. With that said though, I have very high standards when it comes to this type of wallet design. PROS: I really like the ability to select different designs. It gives you the ability to show your personality in your selection. I also think the key chain is a nice touch, even though I didn't have a use for it. (I have all smart home locks) It's also very lightweight, so with the cards and cash in there, it’s a perfect weight. It’s still pretty light but reminds you that it’s there. CONS: Unfortunately, at least for me, I think the cons outweigh the pros here. After I filled the wallet with the max recommended (10) cards and some cash, it appears to really stretch the seams to the point where I don't really trust it. To be fair, I used the wallet as a daily for several weeks and it held up, but I would not be surprised if it wore out within a month or two. I also found it relatively hard to take cards in and out. I am used to a little slot to help you get a hold of a certain card, and that is nowhere to be found here. I found myself taking all of the cards out to find the one I need, then having to put them all back in...which is another downfall, it’s pretty tricky putting 10 cards in here. The fabric wants to fold in on itself. All in all, I like the piece, especially if you want to save some money over a competing brand of hard wallet (same design). I just think the reason they make these style wallets with a hard metal is that these things are getting thrown, dropped, forgotten, in and out of pockets, etc and they need to be tough to hold up to the abuse they go through.

Simplicity for the minimalist

The Thread Wallet is a fresh take on the money clip for those who like a minimalist, secure wallet. The design is lightweight & the elastic is durable. The wallet's capacity can be a potential limitation if you like to carry a lot of cards. It comfortably holds a few cards and an ID, but a larger number of items can make it challenging to take them in & out due to the tightness of the elastic. This wallet seems best suited for specific applications -- for e.g., a backpacking trip where you only need the essentials (e.g., an ID, 2-3 cards, & some cash) or for international travel. The addition of the external band is a nice feature, considering many small wallets don't have separate compartments. It allows for some organization, like separating out business cards, receipts, or cash. The attached keyring is secure & convenient for carrying a key or two, but isn't the most practical for a full set of keys (makes the wallet bulky). Overall, this elastic wallet offers a simple, reliable design for light travel but may not satisfy all the needs of the everyday user.

A compression sock for credit cards

Basically a tube sock that keeps credit cards in place using tension. I can confirm that they won’t slip out- tested it by letting it dangle from my backpack on a long hike and I didn’t lose my drivers license! Can hold a stack of cards but the more cards, the harder it is to pull one out. The bottom is open so any cash or anything that is smaller than the width of the wallet will fall through. Overall, a fine way to keep things light and compact on the trail.

Great lightweight wallet

I wasn't so sure about this wallet when I first got it, but after using it for few weeks. I don't think I wanna carry traditional wallet around anymore. I use 3 credit cards, Driver License and Costco card and it's perfect. Elasticity allows the cards to stay in place. We will have to see about durability but so far so good.

Handy wallet

The elastic wallet is a new concept wallet for me. I was initially worried about the cards and money falling out of the wallet, but with use I am confident they are not going anywhere. The apparatus is sturdy and convenient. The only issue is getting to some of the interior cards if you have more than 4 in there at a time.

Exactly what I wanted

It is very tight, which is mostly great as I don't worry about losing anything. I'm getting used to pushing the cards up from the bottom so it is easier to grab one from the top. That trick is well worth it to have such a small wallet. I used to carry a very flat money clip but the addition of a fourth card made that obsolete. I use this daily and love it. I don't expect it to last as long as a regular wallet, but it's exactly what I want and is a great price. Hopefully REI will add more design options by the time this wears out. If you want minimal bulk, this is it!

super but I want thinner.

Have had this a month and it looks good as new. Super snug. No chance of stuff coming out. A little tight but with a little work you get used to sliding one item. I like the two layers of elastic so money goes between the layers. Unfortunately because of two layers and the way it is sewn, the area by the seam it is kinda thick. I’ll keep looking for a thinner one.

Good travel wallet

This wallet is a good alternative to either a big bulky wallet or to no wallet at all. I usually just use a magnetic wallet on the back of my phone to carry around a transit pass, my ID, and a credit card, but sometimes I need cash or a different credit card, especially when traveling. This is where I appreciate having this wallet. I like the color and the construction seems fine so far, but the stitching does seem like it might lose integrity over time. Overall, a pretty decent product and my go-to travel wallet

Great for Day Trips

Good mini wallet for day trips or other short term events (day hike, bike ride, amusement park, gym, etc). Good for anywhere don't want to take your full wallet (due to size considerations). It will carry ID, a few cards, and cash. The key ring attachment is good as can attach a key or just use a carabiner to attach it to something else. More stylish than just throwing wallet in a zip lock and tossing in your bag. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is I don't think I'll use it all that often.

A credit card compression sock

It’s a compression sock for credit cards. It will hold several cards and I can confirm they won’t slip out. I let it dangle from my backpack for a long hike and didn’t lose my drivers license! The bottom is open (like a tube) so anything that is smaller than the width of the wallet will slip out. Overall, a fine way to keep things light and contained.
