horrible - falls apart on first wash!
horrible - these were ok the few times i used them but they totally fell apart the first time they were washed in cold water on a gentle cycle i'm adding a picture with a tissue inside so you can see the holes it came out of the wash with - a total waste of money! i would give a negative star rating if possible...
Good gloves-but not warm enough
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for gloves like the pair I had for years that were both warm and light and very lovely. They were a blend of cashmere, nylon and lambs wool-embroidered at the cuff-and a perfect fit for my small hands. The merino gloves I purchased were close choice however they were not a good fit, as warm or as lovely. The glove I lost was extremely well made and the cost was around $25.00 about 15 years ago. They were made in the Philippines. I am wearing the Merino gloves I purchased for now and they fit quite well inside my wool mittens from LLBean. With our recent coldsnap this worked quite well for the frigid weather we had in Colorado.
Nice light weight glove or glove liner as needed
I use these gloves almost daily after getting them for a Christmas present. I usually walk 3.5 - 4 miles a day in our community forests and in rain or snow or shine. These gloves have done the job well. When we had a cold spell that was about 20F with snow I used these as glove liners in my mid-weight SealSkins gloves and I was good to go. The only potential problem I can see is there is a "run" in the fabric at the bast of the right index finger. I hope it does not get longer or larger.
Tragically, not a good product from Smartwool
One season (90 days) using it to drive in the winter, and it has worn through. I started seeing it lose the grippy strips, then, it started getting holes. This is basic use for a winter glove, opening a door handle, using your phone, carrying around a hot coffee. Shouldn't have worn this fast. But at least I can use the fingerprint to open my phone now. LOL Very warm for how light it is though. Wind does cut through it.
I would buy these again
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are a great lightweight winter glove. They are not waterproof or even water repellent, which means they aren't the best glove for cleaning up or playing in the snow (but that is not what I was looking for and I knew that before I purchased them). They are perfect for getting to and from the car and office and driving around before the car warms up. And they are not bulky, which is great. Also, SmartWool customer service was great--the first pair I ordered was delivered to my side porch and they blew away before I could get them. They sent out a new pair right away at no cost.
Fine but not great
I bought these for winter running and glove liners. The little touchscreen features on both thumbs and pointer fingers rubbed off within an hour of putting them on; they hadn't even gone in my gloves yet. Wouldn't buy them again...
Good, other than the "touchscreen" texture
Mostly I'm happy with these - they fit snugly enough that they make good liner gloves under a bulkier, warmer pair. They also do pretty well at activating a touchscreen. However, the little texture stripes on the index fingers and thumbs start falling off almost immediately and now I'm finding little tiny bits of rubber here and there.
I LOVE these gloves!
I hike the Utah mountains year round and I've tried many lightweight gloves and they were always uncomfortable, or too tight, or too hot. These are perfect! I use them as liners in the winter, but sometimes I get warm enough while working out, I take off the outer mitton and keep these on. It's nice to have use of my hands while also keeping them warm. I wear them spring and fall alone. Just bought another pair for when these wear out. I don't find that the gloves allow the use of a smartphone with the gloves on, but this is a minor issue to me.
Not the quality I expected
I have worn these gloves for about 2 weeks just while I am driving to work - not heavy use at all. The first day I wore them, one of the rubbery lines across the index finger ripped off from touching my steering wheel. Within 2 weeks, many of the rubbery lines have ripped off. Then then colorful tab on the right glove ripped halfway off because that is the natural place to grab when I pull the glove on. Needless to say, I thought that for this company, the glove would be more durable! I am generally very gentle on things and usually keep items like gloves for years and years! Otherwise, these gloves are very thin, but are a good weight for driving, even when cold. They would also be good as a liner. I would remove the rubber strips and the colorful tag and then they would be fine.
Not what I expected!
I have a pair of Smart wool glove liners from years ago, and these are not the same. These are VERY light-weight, and seem to contain no wool at all, although the label says 88% wool and 12% nylon. They seem to be all nylon to me. Very thin. Returning them.
