Awesome Puffy Jacket
We received our puffy jacket right before hitting the Appalachian Trail. It did fit to size for my son. The side pockets we great for fitting gloves or any snacks in. The only quality was excellent. It kept him warm when the temperature was down in the 20’s. He also loved the colors of the jacket. It fit just big enough for him to wear his upper base layers under the jacket. I would recommend this jacket to anyone with kids when they are out on the trail.
My Kid's Favorite Jacket!
We're in Southern California, so you probably are wondering why my kid has a favorite jacket. Well, this winter has been cold for us. Her morning walks to school have been in the low 40s and she needs a jacket. Now this kid of mine is a skinny, tall, and very opinionated 9 year old. She loves shorts and weather in the 90s. She hates what would be considered "warm clothing" as having her arms and legs covered is "annoying". Enter the Cotopaxi Teca Calido Insulated Jacket for kids. When this jacket arrived, you could hear her eyes roll. Then she opened it up and immediately LOVED the mix of colors - orange, green, and blue. "Wow! This jacket is cool! I'll try it," were her exact words. A few minutes later, she said it was comfortable, not annoying, and warm. She was open to wearing it outside the next day. It has been 2 weeks and she has been wearing it non-stop. She LOVES it so much. She hasn't been cold (with our unusually chilly weather) and it is comfortable to wear doing everyday activities as well as when she is living her best outdoor life. It has been to school, the park, hiking, the beach, errands, and has even become her go-to in the morning over her pajamas while she wakes up. From the mom perspective: With the abundance of use, this jacket has been through the wash a lot during the past 2 weeks as well. I am happy to say that it still looks new and continues to be soft and comfortable for my daughter. Although we sized up, even with the added room, it is still very functional in my daughter's active world. The sleeves push up and stay up easily when needed. I also love the interior label area; should the jacket be left behind, my name and phone number are on it so that it can easily find its way back home. Cotopaxi is a certified carbon neutral company that promises to make durable gear as ethically and sustainably as possible while supporting communities in need. I love that this company is doing right while producing amazing adventure gear for the entire family. I hope you enjoy your Cotopaxi Teca Calido Insulated Jacket as much as we love ours. For reference: wearing the Kids XL. My daughter is 4ft 9in and 70lbs. She has room to grow with the XL.
Light weight, warm and a packable jacket!
Southern California has been hit with unusual rain and wind this February 2023. This jacket is wonderful for these conditions with temperatures in the mid 50s, low 60s. This jacket is not too thick but my 5 year old was warm and comfortable. This jacket is a bit loose for him (size small) but perfect for layering and this jacket is packable so it can be easily be stored in his backpack. Forgot to mention, it's reversible with a red interior but I prefer this color combo. There are two front pockets and one interior pocket which you can use to stuff/pack.
Love the reversible design
The ability to flip the jacket inside out with the color options was the biggest thing my kid likes. Light rain didn’t get their clothes wet or seep thru the seams. The jacket acted like a wind breaker and a few breezy days. Size wise, the jacket runs a hair bigger than the chart but it wasn’t anything that stopped my kids from running around and playing. The nice thing about the jacket is that you squeeze it down small enough to fit in a purse or small cross body bag when it’s get warmer. It al sways puffed back up to its normal size for the time we used. Long term, I feel like my kid will grow in size before the jacket gives up the manic. We used the jacket in weather around 50-60 degrees F, and my kid wasn’t cold. I have a smaller kid that I am hoping to use this jacket with once the bigger kids grows out of the jacket. That will be the real test in durability. I added a pic of the jacket colors. The jacket does a name tag on it and it has 2 spots for names. This is a nice thing to have since my kid tends to forget things in school and I can get it back.
A 12 year olds perspective
The Cotopaxi jacket was overall great, a little too small, but enjoyable. I like how its cloth is really soft and keeps you warm when cold. The ability to flip it inside out is amazing because you can flip it any time you want to change up the style for you satisfaction. The unique colors on the jacket really make it bolder than other jackets I have seen. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anybody that travels to cold places, or gets cold easily and wants to keep warm. -Rain, Age 12
Zipper totally broke after just a month
This jacket looks nice enough, but the zipper broke after only a month. The zipper "slider" pulled passed the bottom stop when our son took the jacket off at school, and of course the slider was lost. Again, the jacket looks good, but we're switching to another tried and true brand for the replacment.
Great kids jacket
This jacket is well made and looks great on my daughter. She hasn't taken it off yet!
Great lightweight jacket
Got this jacket for my daughter. The first day we had it she wore it to dinner, didn’t want to take it off. She likes the light green color. It’s not a super warm jacket, it’s more a windbreaker in weight but being so lightweight this works well for a warmer day. The pockets in front are large. The construction looks like it’s well done. It has a YKK water resistant zipper which if you know zippers means they put foot materials into it.
Family Favorite
I have two of these for myself so when I saw them for kids it was an easy decision. The same exact quality as the adult version but mini. Love all the pockets and reversible feature. My son loves to match with me. Runs a bit but perhaps true to size if you layer. Will definitely use year round- winter either under a heavier jacket or over a fleece, rain (will repel a light rain but not torrential), or a light jacket for fall/spring.
“Best jacket ever”
“Best jacket ever” was how my 9 year old described this piece of clothing. The fit is a little oversized but I personally love that she will be able to wear this for a few seasons before growing out of it, and she’s warm enough with a short sleeve shirt underneath on a 40 degree morning. Not to mention the color is beautiful. I will definitely be ordering a few more seasonal staples to add to her wardrobe!
