The airspace design is too intrusive into your pack space;can barely pack anything in if you have a full water bladder. Would have returned after first use except that the bladder leaked, leaving a water stain ☹️
Backpack is not water-sealed, zippers are not water-sealed, you will need to buy a rain cover for it. The worst part of this pack is the metal wired frame digs into your hips. This will only fit a person 5 feet or shorter or else it would be uncomfortable.
I am short(5"3") and this sit too high on my back. It was not comfortable.
I wore this backpack once, and within the first 1/4 mile, the metal frame was poking through the fabric and poking me in the back of the neck. I was on a trip hiking so I couldn't attempt to return it until I got home. I contacted support and they said they would not give a refund because it was used and instead sent me a replacement which has no use to me. I now have a new bag and cant sell it as well as a defective one. $140 wasted.
Love the pockets and space in this pack, awesome for day hikes. Tried it on a 17mile hike and had to constantly adjust the straps as the back frame on the hips digs in. The padding on the lower back doesn’t cover where the pack digs in. I think it was a design issue, as we showed it to the rei person and they could feel it before I could even describe it. Either the padding needs to go farther down or the wire structuring needs to be slightly shorter. Otherwise the pack was great! Sad it dug in, as it was everything else I wanted. Definitely yet it in with weight before purchasing.
This one is a real boob masher. The shoulder straps are inset so narrowly at the top, and then on top of that they curve inwards in front. Neither of these particular elements are adjustable, only the overall length of the shoulder straps. With or without the chest strap in use, if you are not flat chested, it is going to be uncomfortable. It makes no sense to me that this is a women's pack, with this problem. Also, it said torso length up to 20", I am 19.5", but the "hip" belt was around my rib cage. I really wanted to like this pack, but it's a total no go.
Excellent hiking backpack, great for trails and camping ! It was extremely lightweight and sturdy. Has a vent in the back to maximize airflow. Lots of pockets! Love the drinking pack as well! Overall one of the best and long lasting backpacks on the market.
The Fourteener 24 Hydration Pack is a large pack fitted for the female form with a 3L bladder. I tested it out on a two-mile hike around Itasca State Park over Memorial Day weekend. With 2L of water, the pack was comfortable with plenty of room to stow several items for a short outing, like a sweatshirt, small lunch, full size tubs of sunscreen and bug spray, a large wallet, and phone. And there was definitely room for more! The pack is well-made and sturdy with lots of storage options, like a small zippered top pocket, two webbed side pockets, as well as a bungee systemd. I really like that the hydration tubing is secured into a small clasp at the chest so it's within easy reach and isn't bobbing around. This is a larger pack, but lightweight with a mesh frame and very comfortable. My only minor complaint was not being able to get the weight of the pack to rest more on my hips than my shoulders. I probably just need to play around with the strap lengths. Speaking of, there's a lot of extra strap dangling from the shoulder straps. Not an uncommon issue with backpacks. This pack a great option as a daypack if you're out on a long hike where you need plenty of fluids and want decent storage that won't get too heavy.
I took this pack on a couple of day hikes through the woods. I was hoping for a warm day to test out the breathability of the mesh, but it didn't quite get hot enough. I was able to take it out in the rain and I love the waterproofness of the pack! I am most impressed by how lightweight the pack is with the harness/suspension panel. But the tradeoff is that the pack doesn't have a lot of room. If you're only packing your own lunch and water it works, but you might not be able to carry snacks for others. The color combo of the pack is great and I love the front bungee system for attaching layers. I thought that the phone pocket on the straps would be too small, but it actually fits my smart phone for easy access, and seems secure.
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. This is an amazing backpack for hiking! I've had Camekbak water backpacks for years, and this is by far the best one I've had. It's highly modifiable for a great and comfortable fit. The best thing about this specific one is the structure and space that makes it so the backpack doesn't rest directly on the back and get hot. This is something my former backpack did. While I loved it, it would get hot/heavy with the water weighing it down. The other amazing thing about this backpack is all of the outside storage. The bungy cords at the very front can hold walking sticks, a water bottle, anything really. Very adjustable. The side pockets are great for other things you might need. Inside capacity of this bag is substantial. I am going on a long road trip that will include lots of hiking, and I am ONLY taking this bag. The lightweight material and strong structure that keeps it off of my back is a HUGE plus for comfort while walking or hiking. I'm VERY happy with this backpack, and would highly recommend it.
