Disappointed by a poor design. Had to return them. Being absolutely happy with my Terrex Swift R2 for more than two years I did not expect these to be such a failure. After first 10miles of hiking I got terribly painful pressure points where the corners of the shoe tongue touching the ankle. Had to unhook the top eyelets to keep the tongue untucked. Plus, the horizontal stitch in the back of left shoe, touching the Achilles’ tendon, somehow was too thick so it gave another very painful pressure point even through thick hiking socks.
New style and comfortable to my feet. But it would be perfect if the tongue of the shoes has embbeded the name of ADIDAS with ORANGE COLOR. Also at the back of holding strap would be nice if it is ORANGE COLOR.
So I really wanted to like these, for the price point I was expecting something along the lines of a higher end boot that would last me years, when I put it through some light use scenarios of hikes through soft terrain like mud or dirt it did fantastic, the gore-tex kept my feet dry and normally for adidas shoes I go up half a size since I have some wide feet (the measurement machine at Red Wings said I was a 9.5 4E, so I normally buy a 10.5 or 11 from most places). I never had any fear of losing my grip like I did in my previous trail runners and the shoe fit was excellent and quick to break in with just wearing them a few days at the office. However I did a good 10 miles of hiking in The Badlands (dry, very abrasive terrain) and these shoes look BEAT compared to my friend's boots. The treads on the sole have notable chunks missing, the sides of the boot are visibly scraped; I'm not too worried about the aesthetic damage but the tread damage is concerning that these boots are going to last years like my friend's. I'd avoid using this besides light hikes given the damage after this trip.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] great for casual walk, better for trekking. waterproof surely keeps feet dry. perfect comfort allows long walks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a little upset with the quality of the shoe, I have only wore the shoes ones for a disc golf tournament and the inside of the left shoe is already starting to come unglued. I would really like to talk to some one about what can be done about this
Not a replacement for the older R2 verison of these. Looks are similar, but they are not when you compare the shoes side by side. Build and materials are vastly different. I am a hardcore R2 swift goretex user, I use these all day for work (delivery services), motorcycle riding, working out/training and play (disc golf). After ordering the R3, I returned almost immediately. I now have stock piled a few pairs of new R2s for future use. Disappointed, but I understand manufacturing changes at the corporate level which Adidas is at. I have friends who like the R3, they are not as hard on them as I am and use them for occasional disc golf
Took these on a rocky hike with streams and some light climbs. Has great grip and stability. Crossing small streams is a breeze and water resistance of the goretex is very effective. Can submerge for short periods of time and the water beads off. Anything above the ankle you will obviously wet your socks. Overall comfort was decent. No fatigue after wearing for a few hours on the drive and the hike. Love the look and would like to see how it lasts over the next few adventures.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I mean it’s just a beautiful show, if you’re bored of the generic hiking boot and like your fancy gear then go with this. Lightweight, comfortable, no need to break-in, well sized. But… Once again another shoe advertised as waterproof that isn’t. I now need waterproof shoes when I hoped these would suit all terrain. Costly disappointment. Without question bringing the shoe to a three star which otherwise would be a 5.
For the last several years i have been wearing all of the various styles of Terrex because i love how they perform...i am 6 feet tall 200 pounds and ive done alot of walking in these ..the old soles will grind down to nothing in everyday use after a long time so i figure just replace them...goretex during the winter...so i saw these being a totally new shoe and figured id try...at 180 is alot and i wasnt sure to wait or not but i live in maine and winter is coming...i love that these are more of a hiking stance with ankle support...the fronts seem like i could tear them one way or another but i guess im gonna find out in the upcoming months and ventures...i also think im going to grab another pair of swiftr2 mids while they exist ! I guess ill see if these hold up and dont bother my feet. The grip is larger than the older models as well. I think keep this platform and make them indestructible! Thanks
This tennis/boot hiker has become my go to work shoe!! This is my 5th pair. I wear 4 pairs for work and the 5th pair for casual wear. They are very comfortable and supportive. I wear them year round because they are Gortex and breathable. As a Mail Carrier, I don’t have to worry about pop up storms during the summer and potential snow during the winter. I wear the 1st pair day #1 and day #2, then 2nd pair day #3 and day #4 and so on. This rotation will help then last longer and Continental sole is a LONG WEARING sole!!
