Great Grip on Shoes!
I recommend the PNW Range composite pedals for mountain bikes. I ride with much more confidence out on the mountain bike trails with these new pedals. The metal pins are well-placed to grip the bottom of my shoes. The pedals are wide which provide excellent contact surface with my shoes. The slimmer profile also allows for slightly more ground clearance and reduces the chance of rock strikes. I haven't experienced any rock strikes yet, but the Range composite pedals are solid and just as durable as the PNW Loam alloy version of these pedals. Besides, these PNW Range composite pedals are lighter in weight than the Loam alloy version if you're the type who is conscious about adding weight to your bike.
Get the Loam alloys instead
I love the PNW Loam alloy pedals so though I'd give these a try for a bit less $. Disappointed because the bearings on these pedals are quite stiff and they don't spin very easily. The platform shape and pins are great, just like the Loam. Pass on these and get the Loam instead - they spin like a dream.
Nice
I like them on my enduro and I run competitive downhill on a different bike. These hold on my shoes pretty well and haven't failed on me and I crash a fair bit.
