Excellent for running and hiking
I was skeptical about these shorts as I usually wear shorts that are a bit longer and that are lower waisted. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are quite comfortable. The legs did not rise up and the waist never bunched up or felt awkward. I wore them on a 7 mile trail run and a 10 mile hike with a 20 pound pack. Both experiences were positive. Even with the pack, the shorts stayed in place and never rubbed or felt awkward. My favorite clothes are those that I don't notice I'm wearing and these shorts are now one of my favorites.
Summer Favorite
I usually have a hard time finding shorts that I actually like and fit well and these have rapidly become my new favorite summer staple. I’ve used them for running, hiking, kayaking, and I’m pretty sure they would even work pretty well as swim bottoms. First, about sizing: I’ve found that Arc'teryx usually run a bit small so I recommend ordering according to the size chart. At 5’10”, 155-160 pounds, waist 29”, hips 42”, I went with a 10 and they fit great. Pros: I love the higher waist and the wide waistband is lightweight and breathable. I don’t usually like the built in liners in athletic shorts, but these are comfortable and fit my booty surprisingly well. The material is very lightweight and dries quickly. I went for a 12 mile river kayak in them and got pretty wet, but these dried out way faster than typical swimsuit bottoms. As someone with a decent waist-to-hip difference, I hate dealing with the dreaded waist gap, but these manage a perfect balance of tight enough so I’m not always having to pull them up and also being body skimming and comfortable. I’ve worn these on sweaty, 10+mile hikes and I was so happy to not deal with thigh creep either. There are little pockets in the back waistband that work for your keys or energy snacks. These shorts are super stylish AND practical. Cons: I am wearing them non stop and they might not last me through the summer. Order multiple pairs.
So comfortable!
Immediate thought is how comfortable they are. "Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all!" I've never had shorts with the built-in underwear, which I didn't even notice the first time I put them on. The second time I put them on, I went sans-underwear and they were just as comfortable. I wear them running, hiking, biking, teaching/practicing yoga, around the house, during a move, whatever - they move with me, so I never feel restricted. They are very short, which helps with the unrestricted wide range of movements, so if you prefer modesty over movement, these might not be for you. There have been a few times I felt like my butt was hanging out, but would look in the mirror and it was fine - they are just *that* lightweight...and very short. The color in the photo makes them appear more grey, but they are definitely black. It's just that the band material is not as thin, making the shade of black a bit darker. I wear a size small in Columbia, Beyond Yoga, Mountain Hardwear, REI, and the size 6 fit great. Hips are 38" and waist is 29", I'm 5'7.
Runs small, but good product
I found these ran a little small- I ordered based on my measurements, but should have sized up at least one size. I think they ran a little short for my personal taste, but they were very comfortable. They have nice slip pockets in back that are just big enough for a credit card or keys (too small for my iPhone). Even though they are too snug, I plan to keep them as under-dress shorts for bike commutes and for doing yoga at home. If you get them in the right size, they'd be great workout shorts!
Functional! And cute!
I would usually never have purchased these shorts- I typically prefer bike short style bottoms to hike in. However, I LOVE these. They wick moisture, they don't ride up, and I love the high waist. As a fun bonus, if you put them on backwards, they become booty shorts. I found this out accidentally when trying them on for the first time.
Perfectly light sporty shorts
These shorts are so light, comfy and most of all sporty! The material allows for easy breathability. It also is quite comfortable because of the stretchy waist band. These are great to wear around the house or when doing errands. They are great before or after doing an activity like walking, running, or jogging!
Nice pair of running shorts
Just went on my first run in these and they’re very comfortable. I like how they’re high-waisted but loose around the legs. In case you’re wondering about sizing, which I was unsure about when buying online - for me with 27” waist, 35” hip, size 4 fit comfortably with a little space to be non-constrictive.
Very Comfortable
Ran with these shorts twice now. Very comfortable and light weight. Great for running especially during hot weather. The reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is bec my iPhone Pro won’t fit in the back waistband pocket. I use it to carry my dr lic & credit card.
A perfect pair of shorts for all-round use!
This is one of my go to shorts for trail running, a day in the climbing gym or a walk around town in the summers. They are light, comfortable and stay up no problem, featuring a roomy back pocket to stash a snack or your phone for longer days on the trails!
Most comfortable running short!
I love these shorts! The waistband is so comfortable and the fabric so light, they feel weightless while running. I feel like I live in these shorts, they are perfect for everyday life and so comfortable for running/walking/hiking.
