How to Get Rid of On Running Shoe Squeak
Nich
I've had several pairs of On Running shoes that started developing an annoying squeak after several months. I've found a trick to eliminating the squeak and wanted to share it with you all! The squeak seems to be coming from the 'holes' or 'spaces' in th sole, especially in the heal and mid-foot areas. The rubber/foam in those spaces will start to rub against itself with each step, which causes the squeak. The fix I found is to use skinny strips sand paper (I used 100grit, but 80 should also work): 1. Cut a skinny strip of sand paper that's 2x the width F the shoe. 2. fold sandpaper in half, lengthwise. 3. stick the sandpaper in each hole, from heal mid-foot so it sticks through to the other side. (Some of the holes may ot go all the way through the width of the shoe, but stick it in as far as it will go) 4. Rub (or floss) the sandpaper back and forth to scuff up the inside of each pod. I did it about 10 times for each hole. This works by roughing up the inside of each hole so that when it rubs together, not smooth enough to squeak. I've done this with my Cloud5 and CloudVista. It's been several weeks with no squeak. Hopefully it helps your squeaks

Amazingly comfortable. Probably the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. BUT the SQUEEK is unbearably embarrassing. I haven’t even run in them yet, I wear them as my daily shoe. I was thinking the squeak would go away but it’s gotten worse. How could on running not notice this in testing? They should recall all of them. I know that sounds dramatic but you spend over $150 on a shoe and now I sound like a clown while I walk. Will probably never buy on running shoes again. If they could just get rid of the sound it would be perfect. I got these for my back to teaching this school year shoe and my kids would just make fun of me lol.

Aptly named shoes!

I really like these shoes so far! To begin with, I have pretty bad plantar fasciitis in my left foot and pain in my heel/arch is pretty much standard. When I look for shoes I mostly look for something comfortable that doesn’t cause any additional pain in my foot and these do that really well. They are lightweight, the sizing is accurate, reasonably breathable, and well cushioned. I initially avoided the bulky looking, thick soled shoes because I thought they looked goofy, but wearing them I think they look pretty sharp.

Looks and feels great!

Design: the color of the shoe is super pleasing. It's a nice ombre with a center patch down the laces that is prominent Comfort: SO comfortable. Very lightweight design with a plush sole Laces: I had this issue with my other On shoes so I want to specifically mention it here. The lacing system is a lot more simple and therefore provides tightness without being "odd." The laces are also easier to use as they grip when you form a normal knot Performance: it won't be your fastest shoe, but it provides for a very comfortable ride on longer runs

Almost feels like you're really surfing on clouds

These running shoes are a little more intricately designed than other running shoes that I've worn in the past. They feature some cut outs in the foam padding on the bottom which took a little getting used to but it helped provide a softer cushion for when my feet came back down to the ground. The mesh material made them super breathable so that my feet don't sweat in them like others have. Structure is a little more rigid as well but I might just need to run in them some more to break them in fully, however they're still very comfortable!

Light & comfy run shoes for diverse terrains

Loved these shoes! They are super comfortable right out of the box; no need to break in! Though they look a bit bulky at first glance they are pretty light overall. I enjoy the extra bounce they give when running, especially on harder terrains. I tried them on sidewalk, asphalt, park trails and even on the beach, and I had no issues. Though I wish the peach/coral color was a bit darker or less faded looking, I would still highly recommend trying these shoes if you enjoy running on diverse terrains.

Want to increase your trash? buy from this brand.

This company is not making it easy to write reviews on its website. Great shoes to walk on. Worst longevity ever. Bought them 9 months ago and they are already falling apart. Funny how the sellers are now saying things like "the algorithm determined that those shoes will last X number of miles." for years i owned only three pairs of shoes, all Nike. Bought from the companies that claim to recycle cooking all and all other trash to make shoes and other products, but what is the point of being enviromentally conscious when I have to go through several pairs per year. Funny how on a CNBC short video this company is currently "valued" at 6B USD.

Great cushy shoes - especially for hard surfaces

These are very comfortable shoes for running, walking, and everyday use. They're very cushy with great arch support, which is helpful for people with flat feet or fallen arches. While not as sturdy as I would prefer, they're still an excellent option, especially if you are running on concrete or asphalt. They're my new favorite for long walks and long runs on asphalt. Compared to Brooks Ghost running shoes, they have less firm support, but are more cushy overall - it's mostly a matter of personal preference.

Wow! These Cloudsurfer's Work for Me

Wow! These On Cloudsurfer's are incredibly comfortable. I currently have a pair of Hoka Bondi's, two different Salomon RA Sonic Max's, Nike Pegasus, and two other walking shoes I have in regular rotation that are all comfortable; I wouldn't have bought them and kept them if they were not. I've tried on three or four other On's over the past year because several friends love them and have multiple pairs, but not one worked for my feet even for the one minute test. These Cloudsurfer's, however, work wonderfully for my feet. I'll be buying another pair in black in the coming days. Everyone's feet and knees are different. Every shoe model is different, but for me, right now, these Cloudsurfer's are perfect. I generally walk 2-4 miles a day of fitness walking, in addition to normal walking.

Beautiful shoes that may be almost TOO soft

Out of the box, these shoes are beautiful. They're the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, but at a price - they may be too soft and cushy. They're super lightweight and feel like you're running on clouds (as the name suggests), but sometimes I would hope for something a little more rigid and less like a pillow. They work great for a neutral foot.

Great for flat feet, fix squeak with some oil

I have two pairs of these and I’m buying a third pair. they helped me to recover from plantar fasciitis wearing other running shoes, since I have flat feet. To fix the squeaky problem, I spray some oil (bike chain lube) in the holes and they work till they get wet again. So it’s not an issue at all.
