This product failed within 5 months due to corrosion. This is my third Black Diamond headlamp that has failed for the same reason, most within a year of purchase. This product is rated “Submersible IPX” but it was never submersed nor exposed to rain. In fact, the previous one lived in my car, a completely dry environment. After carefully cleaning with vinegar and replacing the batteries, each headlamp failed again, rather inconveniently on camping trips. Meanwhile, my old Petzl headlamp still works as it has for years.
This isn't my first headlamp, but it is my first not bought from some big box hardware store. I'm seriously impressed. The spot mode is great, but I was surprised at how good the flood mode is, night to day as wide a field of view as I could ever ask. Also appreciate that it runs on AAA batteries instead of being rechargeable.
Got this for backing/car camping. Pretty good light. It has three modes; bright focused light, a dimmer open light and a small red light im guessing is for emergencies. If you double click the on button it activates a stone effect. The battery compartment is also simple. This is my second headlamp I’ve owned and it’s definitely an upgrade from my first. I haven’t taken it on a trip yet but from the quality I can tell it will hold up. If your looking for a standard headlamp that’s durable, this is it.
It’s a good headlamp but it has taken me a little time to get used to the settings
A must have around the campsite! Comfortable fit, nice and bright.
I bought this for camping. It is dark starting at 7:00pm, By 10:30 the batteries are dying and the light is super dim. It should work for more than 4 hours. I will be returning.
Lasted half a season then wouldn't take new batteries. Light got really, really dim mid use, then fully died-out the next time I tried to turn it on. The kicker - never actually used outdoors, was only used for indoor house-reno projects!! Needless to say, not confident in the weather-durability of the product... Giving 2/5 stars because it did work, and when it did the brightness wasn't bad for the price.
The worst headlamp I have ever owned bar none. My Coleman I bought at Walmart operates better, brighter and much less battery usage than this junk unit. Had to rig the battery terminal connections in the field because the unit kept turning off and not getting proper connectivity to the lamp. Black Diamond should be ashamed to put out products as bad as this lamp.
Has been an excellent headlamp through a few trips now and different conditions. Lots of water and rough use, doesn't easily turn on in your pack or require delicate treatment to make it through the trip. Easy to get on when you need it and intuitive options, as well as a battery life monitor make it not just good, but excellent.
Was a nice headlamp but it stopped working on me a year later with minimum use and I’m 2 months past the return window for rei. Used it on a few night hikes and it was good but doesn’t turn on at all now and I’ve tried different batteries and everything
