perfect late fall and winter hiking socks
these socks are great all around socks, have light cushions for all day adventures and still dont stink being the smartwool brand ( i will never buy another pair of socks) have used these for hiking in mild temperatures as well as running in colder temperatures.

Only 53% wool.
Was disappointed that smartwool Sox are only 53% wool. These are costly sox to be nearly half synthetic.

Good cushion, fits the foot fine - but the fit through the ankle is very tight, making my ankles sore after wearing for several hours. Not what I expect from Smartwool.

Are you kidding me ?
I bought these Smart Wool Socks on sale . I have probably 7 pairs of Smart Wools socks and this is the first time I had an issue with them. I wore them probably 3 or 4 times and two holes developed on the top of the sock in the toe area. I brought them back to REI and I told them I wanted another pair . They didn't have the same exact pair in stock and would only give me the sale price off a new pair of socks. I feel they should have given the regular price off of a new pair since I was exchanging a defective pair . I was told I could ship them at my own expense to Smart Wool to try and get a replacement. I guess that the REI guarantee only works when they want it to . The socks were purchased about two months ago and were defective. WARNING - do NOT buy something on sale from REI if you want them to stand behind it and get a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee . I am very disappointed in their handling of this transaction. I would not recommend this store.
