Great product. People are stupid.

The other reviews are ridiculous. The price is not even close to the full trailer price. No one should be confused.

Love the stroller, not the conversion kit

First, I love my Thule stroller, which I use to help my 80lb senior dog get around. The dog conversion kit, however, is not worth it. The original cover comes with a velcro closure at the back (one triangle on each corner) and two elastic tabs at the front, which makes it fairly easy to open and close the flaps. The conversion, however, comes with 3 velcro loops at the back (which attach to the underneath of the stroller rather than the back panel- you're gonna be crouching and feeling around for the tabs). The front, which I find easier to load the dog into because the opening is closer to the ground, now also has a velcro tab that attaches under the stroller in addition to the same elastic tabs from the original kit. Essentially, it's a little bit more effort to get the dog in and out. As a trade off, the kit gives you a double mesh screen at the back (a mesh screen covered with a mesh pocket) instead of the plastic window from the original cover- but putting anything in the pocket would block the airflow which is kind of the point of the mesh. It also gives you the ability to open the top half of the mesh panel at the front, and get more air at the top half of the stroller while having a half-height front panel. The 'bed' that comes with the kit seems to be the same < 1cm thick material as the floor of the original stroller, and doesn't provide any extra cushioning for my dog's arthritic joints (although its removable and presumably easier to clean). The d-rings to attach the leash are built into the original stroller and are not part of the conversion kit. I gave the dog kit two stars because, like the courier trailer itself, it is very well made, but unfortunately it provides little value for the price and ultimately makes loading and unloading your dog more cumbersome. The trailer itself is awesome, and you don't need the conversion kit to get the best experience with your dog.

Beware - this is only a conversion kit

This is not a full trailer only the conversion kit. Beware. The description needs to be updated. Even the employees at the store were confused about this product when we purchased it online and only a small box was sent to the store.

BEWARE! This is NOT the whole dog trailer!

This is JUST the canopy and seat…that’s it! Not very good advertising for REI. Extremely disappointed.

BEWARE!

This is ONLY the kit for the actual trailer, NOT the trailer. It includes the cover and cushion, but nothing else. The pictures and description are extremely deceiving and I'm not in the market for an $800 trailer, so I'll be returning it.

Same situation as the other reviews...

The marketing of this item is absolutely terrible. This is unfortunate to take away from the quality of the items. I actually figured out what was going on the day before I received the item and really cut into REI over this since this was not a cheap error. I used the 20% off promotion and then complained enough to get another 20% off coupon to purchase the actual trailer. Like others, I really wasn't in the market for something that expensive, but I needed to get one of these for our dog and I searched around long enough to know the bike attachment/stroller combo, done right, it's practically impossible to find. A quality higher end regular dog stroller is $300+ which wasn't what we were looking for and I didn't want any 3 wheel version as everyone we've spoken too that has some version of the 3 wheel had a complaint. We also weren't looking for the 2 wheel bike trailer only. I basically had to bite the bullet and bought the trailer anyway, despite thinking I bought it for only $125, which the discount a few days earlier. It was $700 with the discount and shipping. $800+ for the entire set up seems like a lot.. I received the trailer today. It's worth it. Putting this dog kit on the trailer was a bit maddening, but again, the quality of the materials are top notch, so thanks for that at least.
